We haven't been here a full day yet but the small drinks and sweets welcoming gift just added to our already great experience. The spa is a must do, we used the fire place as well, I've notched up 20 bird sightings so far and heard many more. Kangaroos were out at play too.. The serenity is awesome I can feel the stress leave my shoulders. The views of rock cliffs and natural bushland from the porch decking while sipping an ale is great, highly recommend you give Maya Sanctuary a crack, you won't regret it!

What a place !!! Peaceful and beautiful. We stayed in the cottage, very clean and had everything that we needed for our weekend away. Sitting on the deck watching the kangaroos jump past made our day. The spa was fantastic to relax in after our amazing bushwalk around the property, Platypus Creek was a highlight for us, and the variety of bird life was incredible. The weather was cool, the indoor fire kept the cottage nice and warm and there was plenty of extra wood available in the wood shed. Thank you for having us and we will be back. Can highly recommend Maya Sanctuary

I recently hosted a retreat at Maya & the Illowara House was the perfect blend of rustic farmhouse meets antique luxury. The grounds were stunning and well maintained. And Julian, one of the caretakers, was an absolute delight to coordinate with. They were really flexible and understanding about changes in numbers. I highly recommend it to other organisers of intimate retreats.

Beautiful place with stunning views. Communication was excellent, Julian was very responsive and accommodating. We stayed in the Sirius cabin and our stay was cosy, romantic and extremely relaxing. Would recommend for couples.

One of the most memorable and beautiful getaways in the mountains with a stunning location! The services were exceptional and some pleasant welcoming surprises! Each place is very private and peaceful. Would definitely recommend and will stay again. Thank you the Maya team!

What a delight to stay in a cottage at Maya Sanctuary last weekend. Can't beat taking a private spa on the veranda looking out over the magical bush setting that is the valley...! The earthy colour palette and textures of the interior is very soothing. My partner and I were there for a workshop event and are already planning possibilities for running future events there as it's well set up to host a small group in the Illowra House and Wombat Hall. Delightful walking trails to explore.

Such a beautiful location surrounded by wildlife, we were there such a short time yet saw kangaroos, kookaburras and glossy black cockatoos. The cabins were remarkably clean and allover lovely too.

Was such a lovely stay at Maya sanctuary. Really peaceful and relaxing. I want to go back! Hot tub was well kept and was heaven. I spent most of my time in there. Would 100% recommend. Also get your food before going in. Thank you Julian!

We stayed in one of the Spa cabins for my birthday and we didn't want to leave. Every little detail in the cabin was tastefully curated, from the lovely handmade slippers to the bathroom amenities. We really appreciated the absence of plastic and single use items, alongside the re-use of rainwater which added value to a perfect stay surrounded by nature. The private outdoor spa overlooking the mountains was the cherry on top, just amazing. The property is so big we didn't have time to explore it all, but we'll definitely go for a hike on our next stay! Thank you so much to Julian for being so helpful and making our stay perfect.

A simply breathtaking experience. This place truly is the definition of a sanctuary. We got very lucky with the weather that weekend, as all the flowers were out, and the sun was shining. It was so quiet and peaceful, and you had all the things you needed to be comfortable, including a lovely spa bath on your front deck. We will be back again and again I’m sure, we specially want to try out winter here and sit by the fire next time. Thank you for having us.

I've stayed on 3 occassions and the experience is consistent everytime. The Hosts are fantastic, the rooms at the main house and the lodge are clean and comfortable. The property is peaceful. A photo of the Artist Lodge from my most recent stay. I highly recommend it.

We loved our stay in the romantic cabins at the Maya sanctuary! We were able to de-stress and recharge fully. So easy when you are surrounded by beautiful nature, amazing views, fun hikes, peace and quiet, a clean, comfy, very homely place to stay, and chill out in your own outdoor spa at the end the day. We will be bck! Thank you!

Epic place for a weekend getaway! Cozy cottage amongst the bush with a great view, hot tub and everything you need for a stay in the mountains. With a bbq and small kitchen, I recommend taking some basic cooking things and then exploring the surrounding butchers, fruit and veg places etc for your dinner ingredients , as while it’s not super far from townships, it’s nice to enjoy a bbq in this setting. While exploring the property we saw a horse riding group in a neighbouring property , so if you’re there for a few days it could be good to do that- we will next time for sure!

This is a truly magical place where you can disconnect from civilisation and reconnect with nature without giving up the comfort of modern living standards. We stayed in one of the cottages and absolutely loved the privacy. Between the furnace and the jacuzzi you are well equipped to relax even on colder days.

If you want a private retreat where you can get away from the everyday, unwind and reconnect, I can't recommend this place highly enough. This is a beautiful and expansive property where you can go explore and be in nature, go for some bush walks, or just sit and take in the views of the gum trees. The cabins are fully equipped and very clean and cozy. It's amazing to be able to sit in your own spa and take in the views of the gum trees with a glass of wine. The hosts are welcoming and helpful. A great stay, thanks!

Maya sanctuary was the perfect place for a birthday weekend getaway. Tranquil, restorative location and the cottages were super comfortable and cosy. The front-deck spa (chemical-free) was the perfect touch! Julian and Andre were kind & helpful hosts, we'll definitely be back

My wife and I loved staying at one of the romantic cottages. The fireplace was super cozy! We enjoyed strolling around the lovely trees picking up kindling and appreciating the views. Would love to come back.

Had an amazing 2 night stay in the Amore Romantic Cottage. Leading up to the stay, Julian answered all my questions. Before the stay we popped into Centennial Glen Stables and went on an amazing two hour mountain horse ride. Highly recommended! The check in process at Maya Sanctuary was easy. The spa on the deck had a great view of the mountains. The electric BBQ on the deck was very handy and the fireplace kept us warm. I highly recommend taking all food and drinks with you for the entire stay so you can stay in the one spot and enjoy what the sanctuary has to offer. Enjoyed the walks on the property, you can find the sign posted walks by walking back down the road between Illowra house and Artists lodge. Highly recommended stay.

Amazing place to stay! The cottages were super clean and cosy. The fire place and hot tub were a big tick for us. Beautiful tracks around the property which you'll see some awesome birds and lots of Kangaroos! Service was exceptional and we loved the location. Highly recommend!!

My partner and I were planning on celebrating our engagement there but due to unforeseen circumstances (widespread flooding) for both Maya Sanctuary and our end we were unfortunately unable to make it. The level of support and how communicative and accommodating Julian and the staff were was absolutely top notch and by that alone we're rating five stars. We'll be back in a heartbeat as soon as we can to enjoy our stay there.

Easily the best accommodation I’ve stayed in to date at the Artists Lodge. Julian and Andre were only a message away to assist with anything. This place is definitely somewhere you must visit to relax and recharge- spa overlooking the valley, fire place with cut wood awaiting your arrival, fantastic kitchen appliances such as the air fryer (!!!) and a beautiful BBQ for a stunning, slow cooked meal. I genuinely can’t fault a thing, only that I should have stayed longer!
