The bat poop smells like weed, good times. Nice bats 10/10 they all seem very good at doing bat things and I wish them all the best.

I had a great time at the Hunter Valley Wildlife Park! The animal exhibits were well-maintained and the animals looked healthy and well-cared for, so many babies. There was a good variety of species, including some that I was really interested in seeing. I also appreciated the educational value of the visit. The friendly staff were knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions I had. There were also some extra features like a petting zoo, highly recommend the Meerkat experience and interactive exhibits that were really fun. The Wildlife Park was clean and well-maintained, which really added to the overall experience. I also thought the cost of admission was reasonable given the quality of the visit. Shout out to the wonderful cafe staff and the ladies maintaining the BBQ area Overall, I would highly recommend this Wildlife Park to others. It was a fun and educational experience that I'm sure anyone would enjoy.

Highly recommended if you want to see kangaroos and kuala. You can buy food for the animals and even interact with them. Loved the kangaroos, they are so calm and loved to be pet!

My first time was back in 2016 in winter. This time in summer 2023. All were great experience. Price is quite high especially if you go for encounter that's on top of entry fee.

The best interactive zoo experience! My daughter had a great time feeding many animals. The place isn't that big and not so many animals but the interaction with animals make it a unique and memorable experience for kiddos. There are also animal encounters which is separately paid from the general admission tickets if you are willing to pay more and for a more personal encounter with animals.

Fab zoo where the animals are active and in great shape. It is gravel/dirt so where closed toe shoes and bring hats. It does get warm!

I great little zoo where guests are encouraged to interact with the animals where possible. The zoo features lions, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, birds and farm animals as well as a large number of Australian native animals. There are great close encounters you can pay extra to be part of or just take in the enclosures at your own pace. There are free BBQ areas as well as ample undercover and outdoor tables for a picnic. There is currently limited food and drink on site so make sure to bring your own. Allow up to half a day to truly appreciate this wonderful local zoo 🐅🐆🦓🐪🦜

Very nice zoo. If you go there with realistic expectations. They do have a BBQ and picnic area. Highly recommend. And plenty of opportunity to hand feed some goats and kangaroos

Recent trip midweek with family to occupy kids home from school (industrial action). Extremely enjoyable family experience, really relaxed, no rush, hustle or queue! Truly lovely customer service (extra helpful with discovery vouchers), site easy to navigate, little map for kids to collect stamps, small outdoor cafe offering light lunch /refreshments. Lots of fabulous animals to observe and love to book an animal encounter on our next trip, can’t wait til there’s one for Giraffes. Can easily make this a half day visit.

A great local zoo and family day out. Tickets can be bought at the door or an annual pass. New changes to the venue are :- logo and name rebrand / hot and cold food + drinks served on-site / kids passport to ink stamp around the park / QR code animal talks (more flexible to a families schedule) and of course exit through the amazing gift shop.

Went in thinking it was going to be a small family owned zoo with a couple animals and ended up being hands down the best zoo I’ve been to, wiped the floor with Auckland zoo and Taronga zoo. Get to be up close and personal and feed all the animals ( even the camels ) and they have some pretty impressive animals for a small wildlife park. the giraffes and lions were my favourite. TOP NOTCH PLACE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT

If you don't want your clothes eaten, stay away from the goats 🤭 Other than that, it's the most relaxed friendly zoo I've ever visited. Very small groups/individual encounters being offered with the animals makes the experience Awesome! Quiet, and full attention. This zoo will always be my favourite 🥰

Fantastic wildlife park. It's small and intimate compared to a full sized zoo like Tarongah. You can get up close and personal with the animals. Easy access and great for small and big children.

Love this zoo! Have been many times and will keep coming back. Large animal enclosures for a large variety of animals. Perfect size to easily view all the animals without it being too overwhelming or tiring. Accessible and family friendly. Informative staff. Highly recommended.

Nice good sized basic zoo for families ( not crazy big like Taronga with hills to walk up!). Flat, easy to navigate. Bought animal feed but the kangaroos weren't interested- the goats and sheep were! And camels! Beware of the camels- they snatch the whole thing! Fast! Came on a hot day and a lot of the animals were hiding or sleeping to keep cool!

Interactive and friendly zoo It was a pleasant surprise to see so many animals which could be easily spotted. The experience was amazing for kids and families in the mid of Hunter valley. The zoo is small but covers a lot of animals for kids to enjoy without getting tired. Also kids can touch and pet pet the friendly animals.

This is a must visit!! I am so impressed with this place and I would come here again over any of the bigger zoos in the city. Can't believe the variety of animals (from lions, monkeys and giraffe to camels, dingoes and birds) and the fact they were all out and so close, we got to see pretty much every animal. Great mix of classic Australian wildlife and exotic animals. You can buy a small bag of feed at the entry gate with your ticket and it's totally worth it, you can feed farm animals, kangaroos, camels and birds. Parking was easy, it's all wheelchair and pram friendly, and the food on sale was yummy too and didn't wait too long even at peak hours. Highly recommend!! Will be back again for sure to do one of the animal experiences.

We went here on the weekend in july. Parking wasnt to hard as people were leaving when we got there due to a very windy day. Although it was 11am when we were walking in. They have a very good erray of animals for a smaller zoo. Easy pathways around to push a pram if you have a baby. Areas to sit to have a bite to eat if you choose to pack your own lunch. They do have a van to grab a coffee or something to eat. We spent 3 hours there considering the windy weather made it not so nice day. But we did enjoy the animals. They do have a souvenir shop on your way out. They also have a petting farm section for kids to get up close to the animals to feed them.

Was a lot of fun looking at all of the various animals at the Zoo. You are also able to pay approx $6 for animal food in which you can feed them to either the goats/sheep, kangaroos, camels or birds! Was plenty of fun and a great way to spend the afternoon!

Wonderful wildlife park with a real good mix of native species but also family favourites as well. Kids will particularly love getting close to even feeding the likes of camels, emus, kangaroos and many other animals. There's also the lure of the lions, crocodiles, cheetahs as well. It's not terribly big but as a small outing it's a warm and feel good environment and really easy to get around. Take some food though as prices within the wildlife park are not exactly cheap so be prepared to shell out a little if you're travelling as a family of group and aren't prepared. Parking is literally outside. Highly recommend for families with little ones wanting an up close experience.

Absolutely wonderful wildlife park to visit. It’s obvious that the animals residing this park are stress-free and well taken care of. Such a positive, refreshing energy for both the animals and people visiting. Very cool intimate feeding experience available also.

It's a great mini zoo for the kids. Impressed how spotless all the enclosures are, staff are really friendly and there are lots of options for animal adventures, if you are so inclined. We visit lots of zoo's, but there were a few animals that we hadn't seen before, like the bintarang, and wolves. Very interactive experience....who doesn't like patting a kangaroo?

What a fantastic time we had here. You get to collect the stamps around the park and there are talks about the animals the kids loved feeding the camel. And love that he food is in a ice-cream cone made it easier for the kids to feed the ostrich. Really great day out.

Nice park. We went a bit after 12 and unlucky for us most animals were sleeping. Also unfortunately their sign at the entrance said we could hold a Koala but when purchasing our ticket we were told it’s not done in NSW. However overall I believe kids would enjoy the park.

Lovely Easter weekend spent at the wildlife park. Our 11 year old loved it (Much bigger than the Featherdale wildlife park in Sydney which is part of the annual pass). Grab feed bags to feed animals and experience lovely outdoors. For new visitors to Australia, there are wombats, kangaroos, dingos and koalas in addition to lions, cheetas, ostriches, zebra and giraffes

Change of ownership since we were last there and I loved the new improved website and experience for the kids with the stamped passports! We’ve always loved the open and free range feel of this ‘zoo’ which we’re so glad they’ve kept intact!

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is a wonderful place to visit if you are a nature lover or just looking for a fun day out. The staff at the park are amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable, and they go above and beyond to make sure that visitors have a great experience. From feeding the squirrel monkeys to seeing the majestic lion, giraffes, and meerkats, there is plenty to see and do at this park. One of the highlights of the park is the opportunity to feed kangaroos, which is an unforgettable experience that visitors of all ages will enjoy. Additionally, visitors can also see a wide variety of other animals, including Koloa, meerkats, and giraffes. The park provides an up-close and personal experience with these animals, allowing visitors to learn about their behaviors and habitats. Another great aspect of the park is that visitors can bring their own food and cook at the barbecue facilities provided or visit the onsite café for refreshments. This makes it a great place for a picnic or a day out with family and friends. Overall, Hunter Valley Wildlife Park is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for an unforgettable wildlife experience. The park's great staff, diverse range of animals, and unique opportunities to feed and interact with them make it a perfect day out for people of all ages.

Might be smaller compared to other zoos, however it’s local, easy to navigate and quite hands on. I enjoy coming with my daughter just for a day out of the house.

Very good selection of animals for the price. The park has three types of interactive animals that you can feed when purchasing a feed bag from the counter (we got two large bags for $13). You can feed camels, ostriches, farm animals, kangaroos, and lorikeets. I thought the park was good value and very entertaining.

Spent a great 4 hours here with 11 and 13 yr old. Fed the giraffes for $25 which was awesome. Could also feed lots of other animals with the $13 animal feed. Small, family friendly, and fun. Plenty of seating spaces and even BBQs for patrons to use.

Awesome to come during the week during school time. Need about a half day to get through the attractions and the stamped passports for the kids kept them motivated through the park to get stamps for a select amount of animals. Loved the walk through aviary to get up close with the birds and the kangaroo and camel feeding is always a hit. The lion feeding demonstration was very informative and entertaining. Wanted to stay for lunch but the august winds were a bit too chilly for a sit down meal amongst the elements. An indoor eatery would go down a treat.

There are spaces inteded for bbq and eating which is nice as well. Definitely recommended for those interested in wildlife and animals.

Great day out for the kids, particularly the petting Zoo where you can interact with kangaroos, wallabies and some other tame animals. Unfortunately, as with many zoos, there were still a few enclosures which were woefully inadequate for the animals inside them. In particular, there was a cheetah and wolf (not in the same enclosure) that looked distressed and given the kids weren't even interested in these animals, one wonders why the zoo has them there? Hopefully, there's something positive that I'm missing...

Great little zoo for the family, suits all-ages! The kids had fun feeding the goats, sheep, deer, roos, camels and birds, and although they've been 3 or 4 times before, they were so excited to go again. Even in the rain, 3 hours flew by. Will definitely go again!

Went there yesterday for the first time ever and must say it was a great experience. So many different animals. Was also great it cost me $3 as they were accepting discovery vouchers. The only negative was the food there. Had a pie which was very stale and the cheese wasn't nice in it. Next time I'll bring my own food up. None the less great day out with friends there.

A wonderful day out for my daughter's birthday. We booked a table near one of the free BBQ's and cooked our lunch surrounded by the calls of the birds and animals. What a beautiful environment! Such a variety of birds and animals, and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. This is our happy place and we visit as often as we can, so now we have purchased an annual pass. 🙂

Wow, what a great place in the regional area, you will be amazed with collection of animals, Lions show and more importantly interactive nature of the Zoo. You may feed animals and don’t have to pay to feed. Worth of your money and time. There are many Zoos in Australia mostly overrated but this Zoo is definitely underrated for its offerings

  • 5/5 Ian S. 2 years ago on Google
A really nice experience for little ones, kids and all ages. You are able to interact with some of the animals and even feed them. Feeding the cockatoos is a very new experience for the young ones. One at a time they will fly to you seeking for food. Some of the older ones may get a little competitive with the younger ones.. A must try, definitely with adult supervision. Feeding the kangaroos is a heartwarming experience, especially for those with little joeys in their pouches. You will have to ‘win’ their hearts and to gain their trust for them to hop towards you. We spent almost an hour playing with them and feeding the young ones. The whole area is wide and lots of space to roam especially those with large prams. It’s perfectly catered to that. Definitely a must try if you are in the area. It’s one of our go to when we’re in the hunter. Never gets bored for the little ones. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Very family friendly zoo. It is not very huge like Taronga zoo, so we could look around in 2 hours. It is a good place for children and even parents.

We had a really pleasant experience here. The zoo wasn’t too big so we didn’t need to walk around too much. However there was a really big variety of animals. We really enjoyed the stamp booklet around the zoo as it ensured we visited almost all the animals. We definitely enjoyed this place.
