If I could, I’d give this place a 4.7/5 to be honest. Lively, hip, fresh and cool burger joint. As for the burgers? Well I’ve been to 46 countries and have my own cheeseburger reference and I’d give their cheeseburger a solid 8.9/10. Very good indeed. The patty was perfectly cooked. The bun was awesome. That’s me comparing their burgers to one’s I’ve had around the US and Europe. So for me it’s a job very well done. They should be proud. They lose a star as I got a bit of attitude from the teller during my order but hey, can’t fault the whole joint for that. I will be sure to drop in every time I’m in town.

Second time here and it is one of the best burger places ever ! I had the fancy one. Perfectly cooked patties full of smokiness and flavour but not oily, saltiness of the brisket pastrami was a nice contrast , mushrooms added the earthiness and pickled red onions made it so balanced . Top notch and a must visit on the way to the Hunter Valley. All the staff are friendly, the shop has a relaxed vibe and very clean and spacious. The chef takes pride in their work. Good stuff !!!

Very regretful to spend money in this business. Despite good quality food and very nice staff, one of the staff was very unfriendly and lack of common sense or help. We have a new born baby and I wanted to wash the formula bottle there after having lunch. That guy was not helpful at all. Not letting to go to kitchen, not accepting to get the bottle for adding some dish washing liquid, not suggesting any sort of help just saying NO. All other staff were absolutely nice. I believe when we go to local shops one reason is to support local businesses. If the excuse was covid 19 risk, how come they accept cash money.

Hands down one of my favourite places for burgers. Always such quality and tasty food. Matt and Marlene are both so friendly and go above and beyond for their customers. Delivery is also a bonus!

This place was AMAZING! My husband and I were looking for somewhere to celebrate with a ridiculous meal, and Burgerfiend did not disappoint. We both ordered customised burgers that were so big we had to tear the bag open to get them out. The staff were absolutely lovely and the chef came out at one stage to check on us and wish us luck with our monster burgers 😂 Needless to say we both left absolutely stuffed full of delicious burger and ready for a nap. The loaded fries were also glorious.

Recently moved from their old venue to new large digs opposite Westpac which is a short walk from their original site. Matt & Marlene still offer the most amazing fresh made burgers, loaded fries, onion rings and thick shakes that have tasty and quality ingredients that no fast food chain can compete with. Absolutely worth the extra dollar 🤩

The burger was so cold the lettuce was warmer than the patty, even at its core. I only realized this when arrived home and my home is a 3min drive. I ended up recooking it on my stove because I was hungry.

Held a 18th birthday dinner here, and could not be happier! The staff are just the lovliest people, ensuring our time there was enjoyable, the food was fantastic, and everything from ordering to paying was uncomplicated. Their prices are exceptionally fair too. Highly recommend for a great night out, no matter your occasion 😊

Fantastic burgers! Frankly, Burgerfiend would be competitive for “best burgers in town” even if it was in Sydney or Melbourne. I have stayed in Cessnock rather than another town in the region specifically so I could eat here.

First time at Cessnock Burger fiend last night, loved it! We had burgers, onion rings and popcorn chicken. Food was delicious, service was excellent, friendly staff and the place was spotless! Highly recommend checking this out if you haven’t been. I’ll definitely be back

I’ve been meaning to do this review for a long time now but, I have been a customer of Burgerfiend since around 2018 onwards and could never fault them for anything. Their burgers are amazing! Even if I may get the same one every time 😂 I started off with their Fiend Burger, progressed to the double and during last year they knew who would be calling when I asked for the Triple Fiend. Their service has always been great and it always brightened my day seeing Marlene and Matt in there if I happened to be ordering as well as all the other lovely staff who couldn’t believe I could eat their Triple Fiend. I absolutely love their new location and have still yet to go into Samasama but I bet it’s great too! I have so many photos of the burgers I’ve gotten here so I’m just gonna post them along with this review 😁

Great burger we hadvthe Bellbird chicken..will be back

We came for lunch after spending a couple of days in the Hunter Valley wine region. A couple of people we met recommended we visit Burgerfiend. I had the "Bellbird" and hubby had "The Fiend" Hubby's patty was cooked all the way through (overcooked) even though it's advertised as being cooked medium with it being still slightly pink in the middle. He was disappointed, as he was really looking forward to a nice juicy burger. My chicken burger had a nice crispy coating, the slaw was good, but I could not taste the accompanying sriracha sauce. It was way too light in flavour to make an any impact or compliment the chicken. We also ordered a small side of fries to accompany our burgers. Great size portion that were crispy and fresh but unfortunately were way over salted. We constantly had to drink water the rest of the way home. The burgers are big and filling and presentation is excellent, but a little more attention to the sauce flavours and the cook time of the beef patties could make a huge improvement from being just an average burger to an amazing burger. But, overall not bad burgers for a small country town.

Had the pleasure in eating in today, ordered the Cheeseburger combo. The burger was spot on, juicy, well sort out with a great tasting bun. Chips cooked well with a hint of salt. originally thought the price was high for a burger but ordering the combo was worth it. Service was quick and friendly. Worth it.

INCREDIBLE burger joint!!! just finished the best burgers we've ever ordered, one cooked well, one medium (and it was PERFECT) and one customised burger with everything but the kitchen sink loaded fries were hot, saucy and delicious, the fried chicken was so tender it fell apart under its own weight, beautifully cooked, crispy and so damn tasty milkshakes were cold, full of flavour and super refreshing!! I think my favourite part of lunch would have to be the amazing staff that served and cooked for us, both were an absolute delight and have brilliant taste in music I'm so glad we made the trip, and I know we'll be back!!!!!

Man the burgers here are good. Stopped here for lunch and was a great find. Quick service, good sized burgers and so tasty. Coffee was excellent as well. Staff friendly judging from the lineup of people after us this place is popular.

General: - Friendly service. - Seems like a local neighbourhood favourite Food: - We ordered the Fiend, the Bellbird, and onion rings. - There is a vegan bun option, gluten free bun option, and the original bun, which I believe is a milk bun. - Onion rings were piping hot, fresh, and well seasoned, not too salty - the best dish we ordered. - Both burgers were on the saltier side, not our preference. - Bellbird chicken burger is very thin batter coating a large serving of thick chicken - if you prefer more protein than batter then this is a burger you will appreciate. Personally I prefer a crispier batter coating a thinner even layer of chicken. Bellbird’s sauce was great. - The BF sauce is more on the tangy mustardy end of burger sauces.

Good coffee ,burger was unreal

$28 for two burgers and a can of drink, where the female staff member could not be bothered to serve with a tiny bit of energy, despite being paid to do so. The staff attitude was reflected in the burger, really not worth the $, I'd not recommend, even if you are a true burger fiend, dissapointing.

More an American style burger, I like a good Aussie burger. Just my opinion.

Food and service always good never late always on time

Went there a few times while in the area. Wanted to try some of the other burgers but after my first cheeseburger I couldn't bring myself to order anything different. Simple and delicious with a great pattie and bun. Chips were really good too. Compared to many of the fancy burger places in Sydney this place is a winner in terms of price and quality.

Nice burger joint in convenient location. Classic cheeseburger 4/5 - meat was a little too rare. Should of asked for well done Cheeky Fiend 4/5 - Same as cheese some extra ingredients sauce was unique but not bad. Shroom 4/5 - Good burger nothing really to fault. Wong 3/5 - Sauce wasn't to my liking, had strange aftertaste. Chips 1/5 - This was a big miss, lifeless didn't taste fresh overcooked but wasn't crispy, needs improvement. Overall okay burgers, only thing I didn't like about all the burgers was the buns a little too milky and sweet.

Ive been to michelin star restaurants and the burgers here are just as good if not better the beef cooked med rare the salad fresh and the bun was perfect honestly the best burger by far, Excellent service and great customer service awesome food

Brilliant burger joint in the middle of Cessnock. Staff were awesome and the food was well thought out and tasty as hell. I wasn’t that hungry but if you can manage it, I recommend going for a double patty at least. I reckon this will have the ideal meat to bread ratio. Also, great sauce to have the perfect meat to bread to sauce ratio!! Chips were crispy and salty, as they should be. My only regret is not getting a shake!!

Worth the hype. I stayed here for the weekend and just wanted something quick and easy for dinner after a wine tour in Hunter. The burger was really good. I got the Bellbird burger. Highly recommend this place

We ordered the Cheeseburger, Cassandra wang, sweet potato fries and peanut butter shake. Oh my, it was delicious! Lovely little joint in the Hunter Valley and definitely up there with some of the best burgers we've had in Sydney. Yum!

Good burger

Not only are the burgers here incredible, but the staff are amazing too. The ingredients are excellent quality and so fresh, and the burgers are constructed to the same perfect standard every time, and I’m obsessed with the loaded chips. Marlene and Matt have a great thing going here, and they have such a warm, friendly team as well. It genuinely seems like an enjoyable workplace as the staff always have smiles on their faces and the tunes are always pumping. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through, and if you’re local this will probably become your favourite burger joint. My only suggestion would be to bottle and sell your special burger sauce — that stuff is addictive!! Thanks for all the awesome feeds and the many more to come :)

Loved the burgers. We had the chicken burger, cheeseburger and fried chicken. It was all very tasty and will be back when in the area. Definately worth a stop by for lunch when visiting the Hunter. Will be recommending to others! Look forward to seeing one open in Sydney someday?

This is THE best burger joint in the Hunter, hands down. My family and I have been ordering from the Burgerfiend crew for a long time and we're constantly impressed by the quality and deliciousness of the burgers. I've added two photos, one of my favourite Burger, the Cheeky Fiend. Two beef patties, bacon, cheese and secret sauce. Amazing. Second photo is my favourite sides dish, the loaded fries with bacon, cheese sauce and green onion. I can't recommend them highly enough. If you enjoy great burgers, you'll LOVE Burgerfiend.
