Along
with
the
other
palaces
on
this
side
of
the
present
Valdštejnská
Street,
the
Kolovrat
palace
is
situated
on
lands
that
belonged
to
the
Benedictine
Monastery
of
St.
George
at
the
Prague
Castle.
Since
the
16th
century
the
land
was
parceled
and
sold
out.
The
Kolovrat
Palace
was
built
at
the
end
of
the
18th
century.
The
construction
was
commissioned
by
the
wife
of
nobleman
Heřman
Jakub
Černín
to
the
outstanding
architect
Ignác
Palliardi.
The
palace
(already
owned
by
the
Kolovrats)
was
rebuilt
in
Neo-Baroque
style
to
its
present
form
in
the
19th
century.
The
building
has
been
the
seat
of
the
Senate
of
the
Parliament
of
the
Czech
Republic
since
1996
and
is
therefore
not
open
to
the
public.
Spolu
s
ostatními
paláci
na
této
straně
nynější
Valdštejnské
ulice
se
rozkládá
na
pozemcích,
které
ve
středověku
patřily
klášteru
benediktinek
u
sv.
Jiří
na
Hradě.
Od
16.
století
byly
pozemky
parcelovány
a
rozprodávány.
Kolovratský
palác
byl
postaven
na
konci
18.
století.
Stavbu
zadala
manželka
šlechtice
Heřmana
Jakuba
Černína
vynikajícímu
architektovi
Ignáci
Palliardimu.
V
19.
století
byl
palác
(již
v
držení
Kolovratů)
přestavěn
v
novobarokním
slohu
do
dnešní
podoby.
Od
roku
1996
budova
slouží
jako
sídlo
Senátu
Parlamentu
ČR,
není
tedy
přístupná
veřejnosti.
