Absolutely breathtaking! Completely worth the drive! My family and I almost didn't make the drive here and we are SO glad that we did. The water is so blue and calm. We made the drive around the entire lake and there were so many spots to pull off and enjoy the view.

One of the most beautiful lakes and National Parks we've ever seen! The water is a pristine blue and with the surrounding trees, makes for incredible photos! There are trolleys for touring in, a guest lodge, shops and restaurants. One of those places pictures just don't do justice to.

This is a place you really must try to see. Yes it can be a little out of the way to get to depending on where you are. But it is so worth it. The lake itself is crystal clear and looks like a mirror when you look upon it. It is quite the experience. There was snow still around when we visited in mid June 2023. As such Rim Drive was closed for a good portion. But what we did see was worth the trip. There is a visitors center and also a lodge up at the lake itself. There is a gift shop and restaurant with rest rooms down at the park entrance off of route 62. The pizza we had wasn't all that good. But we were hungry, so it fit the bill. There was a wait at the park entrance and patience was needed. All in all I can't stress enough how nice this place was. You really should try to see it if at all possible.

Only the South Entrance is open during the winter. Itโ€™s a long road in so make sure to fill up with gas before you make your way to the park. Quite busy near the car park but if you venture left from the first viewpoint youโ€™ll have the area to yourself and some incredible views too.

Definitely breathtaking. I highly recommend adding this place to your bucket list. The drive was pretty long but worth it. We took hwy 62, which is the South entrance. Its 20 bucks per car to enter the park. We took our 2 small dogs and they loved the snow. I highly encourage snow boots because you will be sinking into it. There isn't much to do right now because of how much snow there is, but I still recommend going. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป They do have a gift shop that is open and offer some food and beverages. Crater lake is one of the most magnificent lakes I've ever been too.

a magnificent place, everything that I saw here is difficult to describe, you just have to see it for yourself. purpose of the day can be spent here. You can also go by bike or on foot. such beauty is very rare on earth and must be seen. every year I come to court for one day, I donโ€™t get tired and Iโ€™m very pleased, despite the fact that I drive 450 mil per day. Be sure to go, you will be very pleased. only choose good weather, clear not overcast without fog.

Crater Lake National Park is an awe-inspiring natural wonder that leaves an indelible impression on anyone fortunate enough to visit. From the moment you catch your first glimpse of the lake's deep blue waters, you'll understand why this place is often described as a slice of heaven on Earth. The beauty of Crater Lake is almost surreal. The lake's pristine waters are set against a backdrop of rugged cliffs and evergreen forests, creating a landscape that looks like it's been lifted straight out of a fairy tale. It's truly the most amazing and beautiful place I've ever seen in my life. But the park offers more than just stunning vistas. There are numerous hiking trails that allow you to explore the surrounding wilderness, each offering its own unique perspective of this natural marvel. Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a leisurely walk, there's something here for everyone. The facilities are well-maintained, and the park staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, enhancing the overall visitor experience. Whether you're here for the day or planning an extended stay, Crater Lake National Park offers a range of activities and amenities to make your visit unforgettable. In summary, Crater Lake National Park is not just a destination; it's an experience that will touch your soul and leave you yearning for more. If you have the opportunity to visit, don't pass it up. This is a must-see that deserves every one of its five stars.

Wow!!!! Way cooler and bigger in real life than a picture will ever show. So epic. Go lake June to September for best road conditions. Place is totally worth it. Not pet friendly however. Dogs are not allowed on most trails. However itโ€™s just simply breathtaking. Go if you get the chance.

Honestly, its better than I ever could have imagined. The views are top notch! So many turnouts and stops to take photos and enjoy the different angles of the lake. I loved every second I got to spend on the roads and on the trails.

Amazing! Get here early for the best parking spots and views of the crater, plus you beat the crowds at the ranger station. There were 10 feet of snow here still, so West entrance was only open. Trails closed by snow, but you can still walk right up to the rim for awesome views! Dogs allowed only in the parking lot and paved areas. Gorgeous!

Not much of the park is open at this point but the views from the areas that are open are great. I was here 48 years ago, went Scuba Diving (no longer allowed!). I had forgotten how blue this lake is! Exceptionally well stocked gift shop if you're looking for some unique mementos!

Well worth a visit. Mostly a driving tour park unless you plan to hike or camp. Stop at all the view points and learning locations. It's a really cool place to enjoy a day. The lodge looked to be going through some renovations and should be a cool place to stay when done. Open now though I believe.

Crater Lake National park should be on your places to visit list. We visited in the month of July, so the clear sky and itโ€™s reflection in the lake is a sight not to miss! Plan a visit to the visitor center, they can guide you through a few spots to visit depending on your hiking abilities. This park has a good number of hikes with amazing views. A must-visit!

Amazing and wonderfully accessible national park! You can get amazing views with little to no effort, however there are many fun hikes to get you even better spots. I got here on a calm day, no winds to ripple the water. It was so still and reflective I felt like I was looking into a portal to a mirror dimension

What an experience! I wish we had had more time to see different vantage points of the lake or to hike even! As with most national parks, it was crowded. But that tends to be par for the course with these more popular parks. Beautiful and majestic!

Incredible views! The water is an insanely cool blue. Wish I had a full day to spend here and do a tour and boat ride. Will definitely be coming back. Donโ€™t stop at the first viewpoint thatโ€™s clogged with people, there are other viewpoints that are less crowded, each offering an amazing view as breathtaking and unique as the next. The road up to the rim is a beautiful drive with a great view of Diamond Peak out in the distance. Would love to come back when the road has been restored and the drive around the whole lake is open.

Crater Lake National Park is a true marvel! ๐ŸŒ‹โœจ My family and I had an absolutely fantastic time exploring this natural wonder. Drove two hours from Bend to get a better shot of viewing the 2023 annular solar eclipse in October. Thankfully National Parks Service opened the North Gate making the drive shorter by a good half an hour. The low wall at this Vista point was perfect for observing. Thereโ€™s a good reason to heat the warning about the steepness of the cliff. The winds were blowing very strong/high up there. Photos speak for themselves. The lake view is stunning. It was October after a hot summer, but snow was still piled up! And one clip will show you that on the plains across the road the snow covered the land. Still perhaps most amazing of all that day was the wonderful community of people that had made their way from all across the country and even Canada to be at that geographic place to observe this particular happening in the sky. Highly recommend to use restrooms whenever you come across them because they are not everywhere in the park. One week fee, which is the only option if youโ€™re coming for a day, is $30 per car. If you plan to return might be worth buying the $55 pass. And if you run out of gas, there is apparently a gas station in the park at the Rim center.

What a gorgeous place. Weโ€™ve been to Crater Lake in the summer but costing it in winter is a whole new experience! Take xc skis and plan to spend at least 1.5 hours skiing along the side of the lake (itโ€™s a paved road which is closed to traffic and is covered with snow). The views are breathtaking and the experience is a lot of fun. Itโ€™s flat so pretty easy for all levels. The visitor center rents snowshoes too.

This is the most amazing blue water! A collapsed volcano and the deepest lake in the US. There is one trail down to the water that is a must do. That hike back up from the water is steep and intense (so come prepared for it) but it is well worth it.

The deepest lake in the United States and water is so clear that you can see the cliffs off the edge. It's a picturesque lake and needs to be seen to be believed. Yet, unlike other national parks, there is nothing much to do other than driving around and taking in the views. If you are lucky, they may have the water front open so you can go up to the lake, and dive in. Yes they do allow you to swim in the lake, but sometimes they are closed. You cannot bring your own boats or paddle boards.

Perfect trip. Being wildlife season, we were lucky to enjoy the national park without a smokey environment. The hike to the waterline is 2.2 miles one way down a steep winding trail. The cold 65 degrees was rewarding but hard to get adjusted at first.

I truly believe this is the most amazing place I've ever been to. Words can't describe how it feels seeing this lake in person. The scale is unimaginable, and the beauty of it all is absolutely stunning. You should definitely visit crater lake if you can, it will be something you'll remember for the rest of your life. There are some great trails around the ridge or the crater & some cute animals too.

What a dream. 1000% recommend. A good amount of trails to choose from and quite a few pull offs. If you don't have a camper/kitchen set, plan ahead for dinner, not too many restaurants to choose from in a short driving distance.

Absolutely gorgeous in summer or in winter with so much to do. The most recent trip was during winter, and there was great communication on their page about which roads would be closed and/or plowed. The rangers always seem to be in a good mood and the volunteer rangers are extra fantastic (one even came out into thr deep snow to offer to take a picture for me). In the warmer months there are plentiful visitors centers and shops to visit and tons of fun for all ages.

Pure and serene. Itโ€™s like looking at a vast ocean but better. The lake has gorgeous varying shades of blue. It matches the color of the sky. The surrounding rim features snow covered peaks. I can sit there all day and stare at the lake. Simply beautiful.

Long beautiful drive through lush green forest. Several spots to stop on the way up there food gas and break spots are available along the route. When you get there you might have to hunt for parking it took me less than 5 mins to find a place to park. There is NO BAD spots for taking a pictures. Every shot of the lake is a winner. Don't drop you camera/phone as you won't be able to get it back, sheer steep slippery cliffs if it falls.

as of 6/9 the Rim Road is still closed due to snow. you can park at Discovery Point and walk along the road (although you cannot see the lake from the road). or you can walk a small part of the Rim Trail from Discovery Point, through multiple feet of snow, just be mindful that itโ€™s slippery! a spectacular view, but if you donโ€™t have an annual/lifetime pass, they are still charging $30/car to drive into the park, even though most of the park is closed (unless youโ€™re skiing or snow shoeing). definitely recommend checking out the Crater Lake Historic Lodge!

  • 5/5 Sathish J. 9 months ago on Google
Itโ€™s as beautiful as ever. Clear blue lake and stunning views. North entrance would be closed in winter and early spring. So donโ€™t plan to drive to other end through the rim road from west/south entrance during those times (even though Google maps show the route sometimes). Check for its status in national park service website. Boat tour to the wizard island is available from July-Sep only. Check their website for availability in advance.

We drove down to see the park. Here in mid June it was surprising to find it snowing. The lake could be seen at times and was as beautiful as we saw it a decade ago. We stopped at the gift shop and the wife picked up a sweatshirt. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a short visit but worth the trip.

Serene, majestic and peaceful. The National Park rangers are always so helpful and understanding. This time we didn't go to the Rim Visitor Center because it was snowing and there was a lot of snow in the ground which required chains. However, they accommodated us and gave us an amazing experience in an area that we didn't need chains to enjoy. My kids were so happy to be able to play in the snow.

Breathtakingly beautiful. The lake is so pristine and blue. The drive to the Crater Lake itself is beautiful as we climb up the elevation. Thereโ€™s north and south entrance. North entrance is where there are boat tours that requires strenuous hike first. South entrance is closer to Annie Creek restaurant, that servers some amazing food.

Beautiful spot. The most beautiful lake, the bluest lake I have ever seen. Still, this being a National Park I can can only rate it as a 4 star. The scenery doesnโ€™t change much as you drive the rim around it. There are about 3 exceptional spots but otherwise it is kind of the same. Itโ€™s not a place that I will visit over and over again. The rim loop is super bumpy, on a motorcycle it is annoying and actually dangerous if you go above the posted speed limit. Those dips and bumps will throw your turning off. It needs more maintenance. And of course in the great coastal state of Oregon you gotta wait in endless lines to get into a building because of the current hysteria.

Park entrance is a bit pricey at $30 per car but well worth it! The fee is good for 7 days of re-entry to the park. We were in awe of the lake, and loved the information provided on the walk around! They have some learning booklets available for kids but I only saw those after we were done, it would have been nice to have those before and in a more visible place. Would have liked more information on the buildings and plants in the area too. The trees grow in a corkscrew or very bendy and i would love to know why. My guess was altitude or reaching for available light but I am still curious. Cafe and gift shop were priced like tourist spots. ;) Overall the experience was amazing.

Beautiful sight of the lake from the top. We can also do a small hike which is around 700feet steep, easy going down, a moderate level while coming back.
