Our recent visit to the Train Mountain Railroad Museum in Chiloquin, Oregon was an absolute delight! From the moment we arrived at this hidden gem of a location, we knew we were in for a memorable experience. One of the first things that struck us about the museum was the warm and inviting atmosphere. The grounds were impeccably maintained, providing a picturesque setting for our day of exploration. The staff and volunteers at Train Mountain were some of the nicest people we have ever encountered at a museum. Their passion for mountain railroads was palpable, and their dedication to preserving and sharing this history was evident in every interaction. What impressed us most was the level of knowledge possessed by the staff and volunteers. They were more than happy to answer our questions, providing fascinating insights into the history of mountain railroads and their impact on the region. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it made our visit all the more engaging and educational. We left with a newfound appreciation for the important role that trains have played in shaping the landscape and communities of Oregon. Another aspect that sets Train Mountain apart is that it is entirely free to visit. This makes it an ideal destination for families on a budget, allowing everyone to enjoy the experience. Overall, our family day at the Train Mountain Railroad Museum was nothing short of exceptional. This museum is a must-visit for anyone with an interest in trains, history, or simply a desire to spend quality time with loved ones in a beautiful setting.

The miniature train tour is such an awesome unique experience. Takes 30 minutes. Then you can easily spend an hour or more climbing in old train cars. Bring cash for a donation. Everything is free.

Such a cool place! We were able to tour tons of different trains/engines and my daughter loved it. The museum is open on weekdays but the train club right next to it offers free train rides on Saturdays in the summer. We've done both options and they're great for families.

I had an absolute blast being here, everyone was friendly and I got to have a nice ride on a mini train. The tour was really fun as you get to go on the train and learn about this amazing place. The train ride was about 45 minutes and didn’t cost me a dime to enjoy this place, not the tour. Donating is highly recommended so that this place can keep on running and hopefully keep expanding.

Amazing experience and completely unexpected! We were on a road trip with Crater Lake as one of the destinations. The Train Mountain Railroad Museum is about 45 minutes away from it. It is actually a world famous place - with two Guinness World Records! Loved every minutes we spent here - there's a train your - approximately 30 minutes - and a self guided walk tour. We did both. Staff is extremely welcoming, friendly and very knowledgeable. Fun for young and old - oh and the place is donations based, no entry fee but they appreciate every bit of support.

Pretty cool that they've built such a great place for train enthusiasts as well as those who are just curious. I've never ridden a track like that and they have some cool trains there. My kids really liked their experience and it gave them something new to think about and learn.

Please do yourself a favor and check this place out. Even if you do not like trains this place is amazing. They have small trains that you can take a 45 minute ride around their tracks that they maintain. They have models houses that have been put around the track.

What a pleasant surprise! Stopped in on a road trip and was welcomed like old friends. Offered a tour on one of the trains with a knowledgeable guide all the while never asked for a dime. Left a donation anyway of course

Heard about this place on PBS Oregon Field Guide 20 years ago and finally was in the area. All workers and train drivers are volunteers and they don’t charge you to ride the trains! People were very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed the scenery and relaxing train ride. The museum was great as well with some very cool old train cars you get to climb in and explore. Highly recommended and we will be back!

This is an incredible miniature railroad! It is well worth stopping by and seeing the 1/8 scale train and the 37 miles of track. You can even sign up to take a 30 minute ride on one of the trains.

I stopped by to see the 1/1 scale train equipment 😃. It was absolutely fantastic! To be able to go inside many of the displays was unexpected. I highly recommend stopping by here to get to get a look inside.

Lots of track to look at but no trains running. It is a club and if no members are running their trains then it is just track and some old real cars on static display. The real ones are not maintained and full of dirt. The high point was the guy who was in the office. He was very friendly and would answer any questions. Admission was free, with a donation box if you felt so inclined.

👍👍 This was a super fun experience. The guides were great too, kept us safe and entertained. Some of the ziplines took a good 30 seconds to get across and you'd reach upwards of 40MPH on them. And there were some great views from high up in the trees there. There's a few rappels too but you don't have...
