We had the best of times. Stayed at Soho Sun City Hotel. Make sure you visit the Valley of the Waves, we spent the whole day there and had a blast. So many activities to check out, we only booked for two nights and wished we booked an extra night. I will definitely visit again with my family this time around. I would recommend you visit during the week, less crowded.

Beautiful to visit with the kids, we stayed at the Cabanas, check-in was no hassle however the phone was not working, reported it they came to fix it still didn't work, used my phone to request for an iron that never arrived. Advised the day of check-in that we would leave at 5am and requested for take away breakfast by 4.30am, and upon collection at 5am it was not ready. I guess that was the bummer. However the lake view from the room was beautiful as well. Kids loved the valley of whales.

A joyful experience indeed! Every staff member at the resort treats you with respect, and they're every so helpful. Services are exceptional, from cleanliness to serving an 11/10. The resort has a mind-blowing setup, nature , wildlife and fun-filled activities all wrapped within proud mountains.

Suncity is absolutely a stunning place. The views, it’s clean, & the activities are so much fun. The shuttle services take long but I loved the feature. There is genuinely a lot of fun stuff to do. We booked in the Cabana’s and the staff there is unfriendly. Almost as if they being forced to serve us & not helpful at all. On arrival the lady at reception didn’t not want to give us a porter for our luggage. We literally had to call someone who just came back from assisting another family to help us take our luggage down to our rooms. There was no hot water! We kept complaining, and all they could tell us is that they going to refer it to maintenance but nothing was ever resolved. How terrible is it to be swimming all day and not being able to take a hot shower after a full day of activities. When we went up to eat breakfast, the woman who was checking our cards was so disrespectful and failed to assist us, baring in mind that I was with my 90 year old granny. The management at the Cabana’s really need to step up their service delivery

Cabana's rooms are excellent for a family of 4. Great aircon. All amenities in close proximity. Friendly hospitable staff. Great outdoor entertainment with a live band to keep you entertained all day. Also has a baby pool for toddlers. Breakfast is wonderful. Thumbs up!

I don't have proper words to describe our stay there. We had a wonderful time and people there were friendly and respectful. We enjoyed every single day we spent there especially at the valley of waves. The breakfast was exquisite, not to mention the service which was excellent. The room was beautiful with a big screen television with lots of channels.

Unwind. Beautiful and entertaining place to visit. Lots of restaurants. There are lots of slides πŸ› both for adults and kids. Pool with waves... There are plenty of safe lockers .. Just a tip.., you'll park your car by the entrance and take a free bus to the slides, not a walkable distance..

We were staying specifically at Cabanas and shared photos of some views. Overall, we had a good time, thank you. I do think the rooms for that price is fairly standard. The view is however stunning. There are areas of maintenance like all places. The music by the pool is extremely loud. Sun City was great. We love the central part of the restaurants and grateful that Spur has a play area for little kids. The arcade is also super clean. Well done! We were very quick in by the Valley of Waves, where we enjoyed the Lazy River and child Adventure area.

Losing some appeal. Valley of waves needs maintenance upgrades. Rooms not as clean as they used to be. More concerning though is that they've opened to day visitors, even when the resort is fully booked. According to staff, 4000 people were admitted into the valley of waves on one day this weekend. According to information on site, covid regulations has capped this at 2000. The only saving grace is that some of the staff are amazing.

Stunning week spent at the vacation club chalets. I can't find fault with anything. The rooms were spacious, fresh linen, and the kitchen fully equipped. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The Gatsby spa was one of many highlights during my stay. I totally loved the vibey atmosphere at the entertainment center and absolutely loved the valley of waves. The shuttle staff were super helpful when we needed to get around. A great experience all round!

I have been going to Sun City for years and years. I have seen it undergo so many changes, from when you would walk through the Magic Company on the way to the Valley, to when the casino at the Entertainment Centre became the Magic Company, to when the Entertainment Centre basically became indistinguishable from a mall in Jo'burg. The thing that I have always loved about Sun City is the warmth, love and and freedom you feel when you are there: The general sense of merry-making and fun that everyone is having together. Unfortunately, my most recent trip was not like that. There was a pervasive sense of fear instead of love. I genuinely felt like I was being treated as a disease-carrier instead of a guest. I understand that we are in the middle of a pandemic, and respect the need for protocols to make people feel safe. I don't understand why it's okay for dozens of people to have their masks off indoors in the food court while eating, but not on the pavement outdoors, several metres away from others. It's okay to take your mask off while swimming, but not walking. It's all gotten a bit silly now, and having a big sign waved in your face ("Put your mask on!") even though you are outdoors is just ridiculous. Anyway, I hope one day I can go back and not feel like a leper. Also, I hope the place in general starts to cater more for their vegetarian and vegan guests. Not all restaurants had options, especially the pool bars and restaurants (although Luma Bar went out of their way to make an off-menu vegetarian dish for us).

Beautiful place! Such a wonderful resort. Well maintained and beautiful grounds and gardens. Swimming pools and surrounds so inviting and relaxing. Booking communication needs a little attention. Response to emails sent not always answered. Maybe a covid staff issue?

I stayed at one of the rooms at the Cabana. The aircon was noisy when you switched it on, it had this rattling noise. At night I had to switch it off so I could sleep, then I noticed an electronic harm and wine, I investigated and it turned out to be the refrigerator, I also had to unplug that so I could have some peaceful sleep. Not a great experience, they need to fix their electronics or not buy cheap appliances.

Rooms: 4 stars - Stayed at the Cascades. The rooms are a bit old, but still comfortable. Had a problem with the shower, but it was fixed quickly without any fuss. Service: 5 stars - The staff are brilliant, always helpful and sorted out my issue fast. Location: 5 stars - The resort is surrounded by beautiful nature. Just a heads-up, the roads leading to the resort have lots of potholes. Food and Fun: There's a great choice of places to eat and lots of fun stuff to do, but some cost extra. Overall: Sun City's a bit old and some things, like the Sky Train, don't work. But they're working on making it better all the time. It's a great place that's well worth a visit.

Sun City has been favourite destinations among many South Africans for a long time and now that it's ageing, it needs more attention to basics rather than extravagant objects around the resort. Basic like charging point plugs next to the bed to charge phones conveniently or using laptops. This place needs more forward thinking management than anything else, to understand customer basic needs in modern day South Africa, on the contrary, they are still stuck in 30 year old style of hospitality.

Wonderful place to relax and unwind. Breakfast at the Cabanas was great, there was a good variety to choose from. Service was good. The lounge and bar at the Cabanas was also good. Most kids activities are based at the Cabanas although most of it was closed due to Covid protocols. The resort needs to update their pamphlets on restaurants, activities, etc advising on what is closed and operating times for the ones that is open.

Beautiful place, very scenic and has amazing greenery. You get to enjoy the beauty of North West mountains and experience seeing baboons and monkeys on site at any time. Very blue and clean pools, big enough to to accommodate the hotel guests. The restaurants are clean and serve fresh food. If you enjoy playing slots, there's a casino square for you to hit the slots.

Sun city used to be the gem of South Africa. Alot has changed, I understand covid had an effect however Suncity as a brand has to uphold it's standard. Small details matter and as loyal guests we observe. I look forward to better improvements in my next stay. Particularly didn't enjoy breakfast at the Cabanas hotel and the many restrictions at the Valley of waves.

Sun City is out of this world..the service is excellent from the security to the house keepers. We were in the self catering unit the linen is hotel standard. Everything is 5 star ....You feel safe in the environment, we would go out for the late night swim.. security is all over should there be a need. But the vibe was excellent everyone was there to be happy and enjoy.. We're definitely going back

Sun City has always been a favorite to visit with lots of activities and great restaurants to choose from. Although they have maintained the beautiful gardens, the inside of the buildings and hotel rooms are a bit dated and needs attention. If you can look past that you will have an amazing experience and you will come back to visit the kingdom again.

Firstly, I must comment on the behaviour of these specific individuals. 1. Robert: the pianist from the Cascades breakfast! Really friendly, outstanding performance and really accommodating. It was the highlight of every morning listening to the music. When approached, he was phenomenal and very friendly. 2. Martin: From the reception bar at the Cascades. Exceptional service. Really good at his job. Very sociable and knows how to keep a customer happy. Felt as if we know him off ages with the way we all conversed. These 2 staff in particular did a fantastic job at making our Weekend memorable. Will definitely hope to see them on our next visit.

Great holiday spot. Sun city offers something for the whole family... Adventure sports, game drives, diverse cuisine, a casino, entertainment and relaxation. The highlight is the valley of waves. The resort does get a busy during their peak holiday, and as with other destinations you can expect queues.

Stayed at the Cabanas. VERY crowded at breakfast time! Breakfast buffet was nice although queues trended to be lengthy. Family room was Holiday Inn-type compact. Grandsons enjoyed the pool. Poolside music was terrible! DJ played HIS favourites and not what is currently trending. Bus shuttle to Valley of Waves was good. Valley if Waves was grandsons' holiday highlight! Personal opinion: rather spend the extra Rands and stay at Sun City Soho or Cascades.

We used Cabanas as our base. What a lovely surprise. The staff were fantastic. Although only breakfast is offered (05h30 to 11h30), it was comprehensive enough to last you through 24 hours. The rooms were more than adequate. Moving around the whole resort is served by a wonderful array of shuttle vehicles. We didn't want to leave.

We enjoyed our stay there. Would go back every time. A few upgrades to the Casino can be implemented as most machines are not working or there is already someone seated on the working ones. The kids enjoy all the activities. Maybe bring back some animals or more activities for toddlers as the find and seek is still closed? With just Camp Kwena left as an option. Magic Company is too busy and very very hot inside. My toddlers couldn’t enjoy it. Maybe something to look into? Further than that a very relaxing holiday- every single time! Good service!

Visited Valley of Waves with a friend for Christmas and the experience was remarkable. The whole idea of shuttles is brilliant, traffic is well controlled and minimal. The staff is friendly and helpful. Apart from everything being extremely expensive, it's all accessible, from swimsuits, floaters, umbrellas, chairs, to drinks and foods, it's all within reach for purchase and rental. The water slides are quite thrilling and well-maintained. The atmosphere gives off a tropical island. A perfect place to visit for an artificial beach breeze.

Always a great stay, safe swimming in clean water, especially now with the contaminated beaches that are a health hazard. The hotels are really expensive though. The only things that could be improved are the service at the hotels which are very slow, the family rooms which have a bed and sleeper couch whereas other hotels of this grade ( Cascades ) have two double beds that make for a far more comfortable stay.

Sun City's ability to maintain its allure over the years is impressive. Despite the passage of time, its commitment to upkeep and innovation has ensured that the infrastructure, facilities, and overall ambiance remain appealing to visitors. The dedication to maintenance has evidently contributed to Sun City's longevity as a sought-after destination.

Sun City will always be one of the best venues in SA. Multiple facilities available for the entire family. Valley of the Waves is a brilliant and exciting place to visit. Architecture of the Palace is stunning. I was however not impressed with service at front desk of the Palace and maintenance and cleanliness of the Palace.

Stay was pleasant, hard rock cafe needs to have a breakfast menu. It's a schlep to have to go up to the other restaurants at the centre. Especially the senior citizens. Rooms sanitizing good, but gaming floor the sanitizing staff was hard to find to sanitize the machines. Need a form of wet wipes to wipe the machines ourselves, same as Thyme Square Casino in Pretoria.

One of the most beautiful places to be in. Everything was on point! The staff service was exceptional from point of arrival up until departure. The accommodation was super clean, neat and tidy, and had everything one could possibly require. The buffet breakfast is heaven, there is such a wide variety one can actually eat 3 or more times (if your appetite can maintain). The scenery was beautiful, and activities were splendid, from touring the Kings Tower at the palace and having a stunning view of the Golf Course and more, trying your luck in the casino, chilling by the lake, to splashing away in the Valley of the waves and adrenaline pumping water slides. This is a perfect place for a family get away! Already planning my next trip😁

Cabanas rooms were small to accommodate a family of 2 adults and a child (2 single beds), dirty rooms (refused to take the 1st room it was horrible), stinking toilet and breakfast was horrible, food was stale ended up eating breakfast at Soho on second day but it was just as bad but at least pancakes were fresh which we thoroughly enjoyed. I must say however bus drivers, security and potters were friendly and the service deserves 5 star but guest services 1 star. Check-in bad experience. Wanted to book for a safari drive person responsible was on lunch. I left my details and requested a call back. Nobody called.

Average service, not the 5 star experience i was hoping for. Some instances of a total lack of professionalism. This establishment was probably amazing a few years ago but to be fair, the COVID-19 pandemic must have been tough on this place. I wouldn't return again and can think of better options for the same amount of money.

Always a great place to stay. My only issue is the smoke from the smoking casino filters onto the main floor. 😷😠

Enjoyed our stay at the Cabanas. Room was comfortable and clean. Service from the waiters at the pool was amazing. Only disappointment were the breakfasts, cooked meals were not enjoyable so only ate muffins and yoghurt. Coffee was good.

Amazing experience. Fascinating. Wonderful place. Lots of activities and scenic beauty. Fantastic overall experience. Some recommendations: Not all people are disabled, but some do have comorbidities. the golf carts could be made available for hire too.

We went 2 days before the public school holidays. It was not jam packed. They had mask police 😊 which I reckon was Supa cool and necessary. The SOHO was fantastic.. It never disappoints. The buffet breakfast was outa this world. See you soon SC. xx😍

Had a great stay at Casacades hotel, got to enjoy some of their activities, the one we enjoyed the most as a family was the the valley of the waves, we also went on a game drive in Pilanesburg. There are a variety of kids games.Hubby and I got to hit the casino without worrying about the little one, because you can easily book a nanny with a professional baby sitting agent, through hotel reception, it cost about R65 an hour. Very beautiful scenery. There is just so much to say, We loved everything about it

We were greated with such appreciation! luggage was carried to our room, with the friendliest porter. I do have some points that weren't so great. 1 β€’ there was grime in the grooves of the side tiles of the shower. 2 β€’ pillows without pillowcases 3 β€’faulty dim light and sadly to say (right hand side ( 4 β€’ there was grime in the grooves of the side tiles of the shower. I didn't want to mention anything, as the resort was rather busy.

It's always a pleasure to be here, it's fun as always. The place still looks πŸ‘ŒπŸΎ. I was really impressed about how strict they are when it comes to sanitizing and wearing of masks, they really are doing their best. Everywhere you go there's a guard with a whistle and "wear your mask" board. People were really compliant with the COVID 19 restrictions.

A lovely place. We stayed at Cabanas hotel, visited the Valley of waves, cultural village, Labyrinth and especially safari Quad bike, Bush walk (which was the best) and the traditional safari ride.

If you've never been to sun city, it's a must visit. Surplus amount of activities to partake in during the day. Nothing much to do at night unfortunately. A long weekend at sun city is ideal. A week is too long. You have the option of self catering apartments or differently priced hotels. Sun city has the valley of the waves, water activities, a golf course, a maze. 10/10 would recommend

  • 5/5 Phindile U. 2 years ago on Google
Oh wonderful vacation at Cabanas! Sun City is definitely a family friendly and so much to offer for the young and old. Well spent time and created lifetime memories. The children loved the bus trips πŸ˜ƒ. Breakfast, galore activities and good service in general from staff πŸ‘ Team Cabanas thank for there was value for πŸ’°, keep up the great spirit of service! A place worth revisited to recharge, laugh and unwind!

Went on Xmas day. It wasn't too over crowded. Very relaxing. Not cheap at all but definitely worth the money spent. Would like to stay overnight, preferably off peak when it's abit cheaper.

We are staying at the Vacation Club. I have a daughter with a physical challenge and I can honestly say that everybody has been so helpful and there is so much that she is able to do here. Vacation Club is amazing. I will definitely return for another stay. So many activities and eateries, I'm gonna need a holiday to recover from my holiday.

Such a great week away with the family. Staff are incredible and so accommodating, it's so peaceful and beautiful. A huge amount of things and activities to do and keep the whole family busy. Sun city is definitely the best place , its close to JHB, it's absolutely beautiful.

  • 5/5 LUKAS S. 2 years ago on Google
Went to play some golf, absolutely beautiful course with great service and value. The rest of the resort was more enjoyable in the off-peak times than in peak times. Due to the fact that Sun City is so popular it can get quite busy.

Great place to go with family. There is fun for all family members. we took children aged 5 and 3 years they had so much fun at the kids adventure section. Us adults got our adrenaline rush partaking in the adult slides . Lazy river never a fail. Grandparents sat and took nap underneath the trees. Also like that meal vouchers added to ticket price they do need to be topped up though. Perfect outing for whole family.

Valley of fun!! Had such a great time. Something of everything to do!! We spend most of our time at Valley of the Waves! Dipping your toes in the sand, all kinds of water slides and not to far from a beach!! Great vibe/atmosphere! But honestly it is just a taste of it, there is plenty more to do/see!! Check it out yourself! Please note that if planning to go to Valley of the waves. After COVID things changed need to book in advance and online.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom luxury apartment. It was modern, spacious and impressive overall. A great place for families and friends. Quick and easy access to all that that Sun City offers. Excellent value for money

Sun City always was and still is a jewel in South Africa's crown. It's a shining example of how a resort should be run. Everything is neat, efficient and orderly with a healthy dose of South African hospitality. There is loads of entertainment for visitors of all ages with everything from a casino to extreme sports and a range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. Overall a great family experience.

We stayed at the Vacation Club. The guy at reception (Lucas) was very unfriendly. It seemed as if our presence and questions bothered him quite a bit. There was zero warmth in his reception and we felt very much an inconvenience to him. The cleaning staff were lovely and friendly. The resort itself is quite nice. I love the shuttles to the various stops. We also loved the clowns and stilted man and the lady on the bicycle that captivated the kids with balloon animals and magic tricks. It's nice to also have such a wide variety of restaurants. The hair dresser there was also quite reasonable and did a great job. Lovely place for family fun!

Easily one of my favourite weekend get aways in the country. I love coming here every year and I will definitely be renewing my time share at vacation club. I can get more rest and relaxation here in 3 days than weeks in others. Grateful for this slice of paradise 2 hours from Joburg.

Went there for the day as we were booked at another venue close by. Quiet day, meant we could enjoy the amenities with no rush and queues. We loved the valley of the waves. And the view from the top once you got through the maze was amazing πŸ˜„. Will definitely make another trip there.

It is a great hotel in South Africa... The rooms are spacious and clean. Their service is also great. The location is also convenient as transportation by public vehicles such as taxis and cabs is available. I would recommend it. The prices are a bit expensive but affordable

The Cabanas need some work/maintenance whereas the Cascades are more well maintained. Overall the breakfast is not what it used to be. We enjoy the outdoors and the activities that Sun City offers. Most of the staff is quite friendly and helpful. Sun City is one of my favorite Sun International destinations to visit.

  • 5/5 Tariro M. 1 year ago on Google
This place truly is a world within a city. So many activities to do. Valley of waves, water slides, water skiing, zip lining, quad biking, etc. It all comes at a price though. Day visits quite costly though at R450 per adult and R350 for children up to 12 years of age. The music for the times l have been there has always been on point and would appeal to different generations. Awesome vibe. Great place to spend the weekend.

Where to start . The staff are all fantastic. My room is perfect with a view to die for . The whole complex has everything you need here. Love the swimming pools and the well manicured gardens are stunning. Breakfast buffet is the best I’ve ever had you have everything you need here. All together whatever you’re into you will not be disappointed here.

Staying at Cabanas.Bring lots of sunscreen. When you get in the pool you realize why some people are swimming with their sunglasses. Get to the loungers early to get a good spot with umbrella. Kids love the Chicken Mayo sandwich. Blue crane visited people lounging at the pool yesterday. It's a beautiful bird. Kids love the boat activities. Shuttles between different places every 15 mins. Chat to concierge for details of which bus to get on. Food court is busy so get bookings. The candy store will keep your dentist in business with all the imported candy. Latest movies at the cinema. If you need pool clothes there is a surf shop near the food court.

We had an absolutely delightful experience. The weather was favorable and conducive to our activities, which added to the overall enjoyment of the occasion. Additionally, we were pleased to find that the parking arrangements were secure and provided a sense of peace of mind throughout our visit.

Fabulous setting. The Palace is amazing. Opulence personified. Fine dining options are not good which is surprising in view of everything else on offer. Most are fast food orientated, ideal for families but not those adults with. a more discerning palette. Don't get me wrong it's ll edible but disappointing. Would not rush back.

The most beautiful place to visit, did not want to leave. The concierge Pascal is the most helpful man you could meet, anything you need he will arrange immediately. And Norah who does massages is the loveliest lady you could meet. The Tusk bar staff are so friendly These people made our holiday even better.

We were booked for the Christmas holiday for 3 nights at the Sun City Hotel and Casino. Horrible experience, the hotel rooms are old not serviced and maintained but they do clean linen and towels. Water was very dirty, brown frothy with an odor. I would really rate the hotel tops 3 star, it’s an old dinosaur

  • 1/5 Helen A. 3 months ago on Google New
Pool side service at all pools very slow and not good at all. Waited over an hour for a waitor to arrive and never came and then ordered from the bar area and waited over an hour for the food to arrive. Total rip off that you are expected to pay to go to the gym when most hotels anywhere in the world offer free gym access to their guests. Sun City makes enough money from its guests so not too much to ask for free gym access. Don't advertise gym as facilities available without stating guests have to pay. Don't advertise Royal Pools as a thing to do at Sun City when it is only available to guests of The Palace or if guests at other hotels book a meal at The Palace. Advertise correctly stating the process to gain access and that it isn't open to anybody.

We did a day visit to Valley of the Waves and The Maze. We had lunch at Calistos and ice-cream at Milky Lane. It was a busy day but not crowded. We enjoyed our day out to Sun City. This was my third visit.

It's a beautiful getaway destination for the whole family. My girls loved it. I loved it, too. Everything is there, from restaurants to the retail shops. It's a beautiful small world. However, the floor of the "beach" is quite dangerous, especially to younger children. If you're not careful, you'd really find yourself very hurt.

  • 5/5 Christiaan B. 5 months ago on Google
It really is an amazing place for a family vacation. At the Cabanas the cleaning staff don't anticipate the needs of kids very well. We had to ask for bedding for the kids each day. As by default there would be only be bedding for either the cot or the bed. All the staff are very friendly though and quickly sorted the bedding problems on a few days.

It was beautiful and quiet. The rooms were cleaned every day, which was great. The shuttles moved around often and efficiently. This made it easier to move around the resort with children.
