Beautiful game reserve where you can see the big 5 without even leaving your room. A once in a lifetime experience. Recommended.

5 Stars - Definitely a must go when you are in South Africa! This is a relatively new park, turned from farmland in 1991 occupying areas as big as around 70% of Hong Kong. It’s not the biggest in South Africa but to be honest who could finish exploring the whole park if you only stay for say a week? The park is less well known than the most famous one but it truly is a hidden gem given its animal variety and the professional rangers/workers/staff. Believe me - the experience of escaping from a huge city and staying at a safari dedicating the time to track animals and just watch them doing the same things repeatedly do provokes a lot of thinking and reflection.

One of the best game reserves is South Africa. You are almost guaranteed-to see Elephants and on most game drives you will see 4 of the big 5. Easy to fly in with Fed-Air from Johannesburg and plenty of lodges to choose from. Beautiful sunsets and that true African feeling can be felt every day you spend in the Madikwe Game reserve. 🙏If this review was helpful please smash the like button🙏

One of the most beautiful places on Earth rich with flora and fauna. An immersive experience into tranquility, nature and the treasures of our planet at risk of extinction.

A fantastic park, unfortunately a bit expensive as there are not so many hotels, but this is even better for the animals :-) If you are lucky you can see the charming wild dogs, this is a unique experience. We really enjoyed the 6 nights and we would definitely go again. Can also be visited with children as it has no malaria.

This is a very big reserve offering some amazing game viewing experiences. It is well worth visiting, even to stay for two or three nights. I saw a pack of wild dogs, cheetahs, a Leopard, and a pair of aardwolf during my short stay there, amongst many other fascinating creatures. There are many elephant there, and it was really enjoyable to watch them bathing and playing in the water, especially the young ones. We also saw plenty of lion, really up close. The Game Rangers are very knowledgeable and work together in tracking animals so they are able to make sure their visitors have an interesting experience. We stayed in Mosetlha bush camp, which was an open camp - the electric fencing only restricted elephant and giraffe. We enjoyed beautiful food cooked on an open camp fire, prepared by the camp staff. All we had to do was ready in time for the game drives, early morning and early evening, and forget about all our troubles. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Really worth visiting.

The BEST game reserve in South Africa. We stayed at Buffalo Ridge lodge on the side of the mountain. Our guide, Israel, was extremely knowledgeable and got us extremely close to the animals. The meals were awesome. The rooms were awesome. The view was awesome. 10/10

Although you are allowed to self-drive from the gate to the lodge where you will be staying, you aren't allowed to go out on game drives on your own. However this is a big positive as less vehicles mean the game sightings are less crowded. This is a Big 5 reserve and we were lucky enough to see 2 cheetahs, but unfortunately we didn't spot a leopard. The park is vast with different landscapes ensuring you will never be bored, and the lodges we stayed at (Motswiri and Royal Madikwe) were awesome. If you are driving to the lodge on your own, rest assured that the gravel roads are of good condition - the small hatchback we used was good enough to get us there and back safely. Be sure to respect the animals when driving though, as you are in their territory. While driving between the 2 lodges we came across a big elephant in the road. We kept our distance, turned off our car en enjoyed the moment - not much more you can do except be patient.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful malaria free reserve where you can spot the big 5. Very spacious and neat lodges with bath and an open-air shower, where the elephants walk along your terrace. The food was a culinary masterpiece I can say so well, so I hope they keep the cook. You can regularly see the animals when they come to the drinking place that has been laid out at the restaurant. We have had a great stay here.

Don't know where to start so all I'm going to say is simply the best . Two stays at this amazing lodge has me hooked on safari . The food is best we have had anywhere we have been on safari . The private water hole in front of main lodge is brilliant for watching animals Soo close . Lodges are stunning with private plunge pool only wish it was hotter to use the pool . Once again amazing staff and management are just so friendly I really get sad leaving them all.

Fantastic Game reserve an hour or so Outside of Gaborone, Botswana. We stayed at Tau lodge, booked last minute (week before) and paid a good price in November. Great experience overall, twice daily game drives (6a and 4p) with great and experienced staff who really care about curating your experience. Stayed for two nights, saw the big 5 and African dogs on 3 safaris- great luck. Good food and accommodations at Tau, right on a watering hole that is teeming with animals during the dry season. Would visit again.

Outstanding! Incredible Nature Reserve. The ultimate alternative to Pilanesberg NR, and KNP!! Private. And the most amazing vast, Landscapes, vegetation and close encounters with wild life. The Safari Guide "Victor" was 10/10. Controlled viewing of no more than 3 Safari vehicles at a Big 5 sighting makes the whole experience personal. An absolute must for a quiet and NOT over crowded experience!

Wow.! What a magnificent reserve. Beautiful setting and stunning vistas. Hope the rains come soon. The excess elephants are certainly making their presence felt - they are decimating the vegetation at the expense of other animals' survival.

Spectacular uninterrupted breathtaking views of nature where you get to experience the Big 5 in action. Rare sightings of leopard so if spotted is a really special moment. The evenings and early mornings are when the bush really comes to life as you get to hear the roaring lions and callings from the hyenas. Birdwatching is also big in the reserve with a variety of species to view. It is worth a visit!

Madikwe always delivers. We had amazing sightings of lions, cheetah, ellies & even a leopard, as well as rhino, buffs & general game. I just wish there were nicer places to stop for tea & sundowners other than clearings in the middle of nowhere. A road up one of the koppies would be nice, or alongside a dam. Nevertheless a beautiful place.

This game reserve is the most amazing place i have ever been to. When i was here we had a pool at our lodge nd we would go into it and look up into the nests that hang from the trees, and we would see little baby birds looking back at us. I also got to hold a Chameleon, which was undoubtedly the most amazing experience ever.

👍👍 Attentive, calm, friendly & efficient. Correct protocols followed when granting people access into and out of the reserve. This gate is the entrance to a whole new type of bushland experience that South Africs has to offer. Worth the drive.
