I was very skeptical when my wife booked online as it was very expensive. Within 5 minutes of being in the monkey sanctuary I had changed my mind. It was worth every cent and more. We took the additional option to feed the monkeys and they surrounded us and were literally eating out of our hands. Our guide was fantastic and we enjoyed every minute of the hour tour. Keep up the good work and we’ll definitely be back

We loved the experience, a simply must. Although I must say it is quite expensive. The place is well taken care of with very friendly staff. Monkeys is very comfortable with people and have no problem to come up close. One even climbed on me. The only reason for giving only 4 stars is because everybody going in for feeding time pays the same price however not every person gets their own feeding bucked we were 2 and only got 1 and there was a family of 6 and they only got 4 even though all of us paid full price. There is drinks available to buy onnsite at affordable prices. Bathrooms also very clean. And safe parking with a very friendly car guard also there.

Very nice place to see monkeys and elephants. There are a lot of monkeys (mainly Kapuziner and lemurs I think) and 4 elephants in the 2 sections. The monkey tour is about 1 hour long, the elephant tour about 1.5h and you have enough time to ask any questions and take pictures. Even if you don't ask any questions the guides will tell you a lot about the animals which is very nice. Careful with the monkeys, the will try to search your pockets and backpacks so have an eye on them when they're climbing into you (what will most likely happen unless you tell them strictly not to do it, but it is also funny). In the elephant tour there are 3 parts, feeding an elephant, walking with elephants and touching elephants / taking pictures with elephants. Also in larger groups everyone will have a chance to perform the activities which is very nice. All in all I can only recommend going there. If you go with kids plan some time (maybe for a picnic) between the tours as especially the elephant tour also involves some stops where kids (especially when they don't speak English) might feel bored. There is a playground right outside with a picnic table where families can spend some time between the tours

Not cheap for an hour's tour, but a very memorable experience. The park is superbly built with raised wooden paths and bridges in an amazingly wooden setting. The monkeys are not indigenous, from South America, Madagascar etc. and many are very friendly, jump onto you or search your pockets for food. With over 150 m9nkeys and many Duikers, there is movement all the time. A really cool environment for the Monkeys.

We got free entrance as it was my husbands birthday - really a nice spoil. Charlie, our guide, was very knowledgable and really enjoyed doing the tour with him. I am almost 7 months pregnant and we went on a Sunday while it was raining and still enjoyed the tour - just be careful, wear comfortable shoes and rather take it slow while walking. The monkeys are so cute and you can see that they are loved and well looked after. Curio shop is also very nice and has a wide variety of items. Highly recommended.

We've lived here for a year and have done numerous animal experiences from safari to feeding baby rhinos. This was easily our favorite yet! The one hour tour was so fun! We immediately were "pickpocketed" by sneaky James; he went full on hands into my wife's purse and managed to grab a folded brochure out of my daughter's pocket. When you feed the monkeys they all jump around the people to get to the food. Our kids loved it, and my wife and I enjoyed it just as much. The guide was so very nice, and you could tell he really loved his job. This will be a place we come back to for sure. We really want to do the day long one with the elephants and the lions.

Visited the Monkey Sanctuary on Sunday morning 05/11/2023. Overall a good experience, but incredibly overpriced. Definitely catered more towards tourists than locals. You see most of the monkeys in the beginning of the tour and then its more of a 45 minute hike over a bunch of bridges and through a rockery where you don't see much. Guides are friendly and its great to see the monkeys up close but don't think it is worth R500 per person.

I genuinely enjoyed doing the monkey tour. I opted to be in the feeding group and I was so fun to have the monkeys be comfortable enough to climb on you. The tour was informative, very fun and the walkways, the nature and the views throughout WA breathtaking!

This was such an awesome experience! Well worth the price. The venue has all of the covid regulations in place. Friendly service. Our guide even took my phone and took pictures and videos of the entire tour. This ment that I had time te enjoy the experience and not worry about taking photos. Sam was an excellent guide!

We enjoyed it very much. I believe taking the feeding package is a MUST. We went with our 20months daughter and she loved it. The monkeys are not aggressive, they can steal your things so so make sure to put them well in your bag. The monkeys are free in a very very big enclosed forest so it feels good to see them. It is worth the price.

What a nice beautiful experience for the whole family, and they do such good work with these little monkeys. You walk among them and really get to see how these naughty gritters love life. A must do for anyone who loves animals.

Really enjoyed my walk through the monkey sanctuary I feel like it's a little over priced as there are not alot of monkeys anymore! Where have they all gone? It might be a good thing or bad thing but the guides are friendly the places is well kept and the monkeys are happy! Soooo good experience always!

Not cheap, but when you see how well kept the place is, the amount of careful planning that goes into keeping the monkeys healthy and happy, it is money *well* spent. Our guide, Mofolo, was a gentle soul who had a unique connection to the monkeys and other critters. Just make sure you have nothing worth stealing.... They like shiny stuff. It's an easy and relaxed walk for about an hour, mostly on wooden platforms, with two swing bridges just for fun.

I had my third visit to the monkey sanctuary yesterday, and I have never been disappointed. The staff and guides are all very friendly and knowledgeable. The guides are patient and answer all of our questions with ease. The monkeys are mischievous, funny and adorable. I will keep returning again, and again. A beautiful, fun and interactive outing for anyone that has love and respect for animals.

We had a fantastic time Our guide Wyson was great and so knowledgeable. It’s my boyfriend’s first visit to SĄ from London and we were looking for things to do near Hartbeespoort, when we came across the monkey sanctuary. Beautiful surroundings and cute monkeys 🐒 Well worth a visit!

Quite disappointed and sad about the conditions both birds and monkeys are kept in. Tiny low cages. There is more than enough room to have those animals in more humane conditions. I’m not happy to have contributed to such torture. Besides that, quite often they have the same type of animal in different cages. I don’t see the point. I wonder why they would keep alpacas in such a hot climate in which they don’t belong. I know they’re “in”, but a zoo should know better.

Rip-off ⚠ R400 per person to walk through the Sanctuary at break- neck speed.. No assistance for elderly people crossing the stream. The guide does not wait for anyone and therefore you haven't a clue what pearls of wisdom are ...needless to say we were in and out in just over 40 minutes.. Despite it being an hour tour. . . The Sanctuary itself is magnificent! The monkeys are very chilled and enjoy interacting with people as they are food driven. If Sarah, their biggest monkey, likes you she will hitch a ride. Loved the monkeys and would have been far happier playing with them than rushing after the guide.

Its very expensive . And the monkeys are mainly visible in 1/4 of the park. For me it was not worth it.

  • 4/5 Jannie K. 4 years ago on Google
Very nice place to visit. We enjoyed it walking more than 80% of the time under trees with the monkeys everywhere around. Our guide's speech was not always very clear - pronunciation of words not always clear, but all in all an enjoyable visit

For R370, it's certainly NOT worth it. Way too expensive. Only seen a few monkeys at the start. It's more of a hike.

  • 5/5 Dane C. 3 years ago on Google
Awsome experience feeding the monkeys would definitely recommend visiting

  • 3/5 Carlos C. 3 years ago on Google
Clean park but a bit on the high price end R 370 per person. Kids over 4 years of age R 205. But if its your birthday your in lucky free walk for you. They catering for foreign tourists. The coffee shop was not running on the day we were there but it may be dew to covid. So its costly to the local tourists. But its a fun place if you not afraid of having monkeys come close or on you. There is a snake park within 5 km but is more like a zoo with a few animals worth a stop. For cheaper viewing of monkeys There is other monkey parks in the east rand with cover charge of R30 per person but you don't get to walk with the monkeys.

The Monkey Sancturay was well worth a visit. Sanitation and hygiene are of utmost importance and there are strict controls. Social distancing is enforced and the groups are small. The tour guide explains the history of the orphaned and rescued monkeys. There are walkways, sway bridges, a river and little waterfalls. The sanctuary is coveted by a tree canopy to protect the monkeys from hawks. I can highly recommend this activity.
