Fantastic dinner the food was so good! I had the ribeye steak sandwich with fries and it was so tasty cooked just the way I asked. We also had the shrimp Po-boy and ham and cheese sandwiches were also big hits with my dinner party! Home made potato salad was two thumbs up! Will definitely return next time I pass through town!

I have been wanting to try the Blue heron for quite a while and finally got the chance! So happy to be in Mason City on a Saturday. I tried The fish /shrimp tacos with the Baja sauce, amazing. We also tried the hand breaded cheese balls with the in-house made barbecue sauce. Service was Very good. We will be going back!

In town from Indiana to see family. What a great place to eat! The service was great! Hope to return sometime. Loved the fried pickles and homemade chips.

In town from NW IL to visit family. This placed popped up when we searched friday fish fry, had alot of high reviews and lives up to all of the 5 stars! The Deep Fried Cod was delicious, 3 Large Fillets, (i started eating before the pic, one fillet was cut in half so kinda hid it in the middle) and the picture does not do justice to the baby red potatoes they were soo good! Meal came with Texas Toast and a side Salad. It was alot of food for the price. We always try to eat local and this was exactly that. Local owned, has a very welcoming family atmosphere. The service was great, she was attentive and very friendly. The owner seems to make her way around and stops and speaks to every table. Felt the pride in ownership and making sure everyone left full and happy. They speak to everyone like they're a local regular, even when it's your first visit.

The fried pickles are the best, not frozen and fried buy actual spears breaded and fried fresh, they also have beyond burgers that they will substitute for any patty. Good prices! Super clean!

Food was really good and service was great. Highly suggest the Hodge Podge appetizer! Owner made sure to ask about our food and tell us about upcoming specials too.

The wait staff was great, awesome service and answered all our questions and made sure to check on us periodically. The hodge podge breading had no seasoning and left our stomachs aching a little. The entrees were sub par, the chips again were not seasoned, and both sandwiches had their own problems. It was our first time there trying the food and sorry to say it will most likely be the last. Sad to say because we had heard nothing but good things about the place

We had 2 cold Grainbelts, a bloody Mary, the Hodgepodge appetizer, and two sandwiches. Everything was great, service was so nice, the owner chatted with us while washing glassware. I don't live in town, but I would plan to stop here the next time I'm in Mason City. My favorite part of our meal was the fried green peppers: YUM!

We are from out of town and came here to eat. We ordered the special, which was a full rack of ribs, beans, and coleslaw. I can't begin to tell you how amazing the ribs were here; would literally fall off the bones! Best ribs I've ever had!!! The service was immaculate and the atmosphere was great and friendly. I would definitely recommend this amazing place to all of my friends.

This place always has amazing service, such nice and friendly staff, and great quality food at great prices. They always have a great selection of drinks too for cheaper prices than anywhere in town I’ve been. Our usual choices are an appetizer and sandwiches, and they make their own chips. Definitely recommend!

Blue Heron never disappoints!! Their food is always amazing and good portions!! We had Mushroom Swiss burgers, Firecracker burger, and for apps we had breaded mushrooms, fried green pepper rings, cheeseballs, and fries!! The whole family was happy and full n we definitely had some leftovers!! Definitely a must go to spot in mason city!! Staff is always friendly and amazing as well!!

We were invited to join for lunch.....it is a small restaurant-bar establishment, Mason City, Iowa....the service was great and the waitress was super....she even took a group shot for us....Vikings decor....the entry isn't the greatest but after that it improves... My Reuben was fantastic...I substituted fries instead of kettle chips but in the mix-up I received both for no extra charge...

You're thinking bar food, this is a restaurant with a liquor license. Local high school prom was that night very busy, service was still excellent. Cheese curds were very good and served hot, the ranch dressing for them was rich and thick not runny like from a bottle I believe it might have been in house made ranch. I had the western burger American cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce on Texas toast grilled to perfection and served hot.

We mistook this restaurant for a different one we had been wanting to try. We realized it when we sat down but thought we would give it a try. We were pleased with our server Nikke and her great service. The food was delicious and we like to see that everyone helped each. We will definitely be back when we come to Mason City.

Food was amazing for a app. Got breaded mushrooms the burgers were awesome. The fish sandwich was the same and I had the heron club very delicious. Came from central mn for a hockey game. Definitely will come back again. The batter for the onion rings and breaded mushrooms was awesome. The service was awesome as well. Couldn't as for nothing better.

Burned my food. Pastrami on rye. Was a pick up order so didn't notice till home. Will never return. The fact that the cook has no pride in his job and would plate their "house chips" burnt to a crisp line that is mind blowing. 👎

Service was amazing, drinks on point! Didn't have a soup of day option though was in menu. Pickle spears were delish, fish was done perfectly. A must stop again!

We had 4 different dishes; tenderloin, classic burger, cordon blue sandwich, and chili cheese hot dog. Great food and good beer. We were welcomed quickly and had friendly service and the owner stopped to chat with us. What else can you ask for? Forgot to take a photo of the food sorry.

The service was out of this world and the food was amazing. We stopped in following a funeral and the staff was incredibly attentive and sweet. They brought colors and books for the kids and refilled drinks before we even noticed they were half gone. The food was amazing and came out hot and fresh with in 5 minutes of our order being taken. We will definitely be coming back and soon.

Amazing place! Staff was great and food is all hand batter, made from scratch delicious!! We had Green pepper rings with homemade honey mustard sauce for an appetizer and they were soooo good!! Next was 3 peice cod dinner with side salad and homemade mashed potatoes with Italian sausage gravy and Texas toast. It was All excellent . Please experience

I’m town from Denver, CO, visiting family. We read good reviews and decided to check it out on a chilly, rainy Saturday night. Arrived around 6:30, place was packed, waited about 15 min before a table opened up. They offered Wednesday, Friday and Saturday dinner specials on Saturday night - opted for Weds special. Steak was a great cut and well well prepared. Thai chili baked shrimp were tasty. The small red potatoes were the big surprise - so good - drizzling in buttery broth that reminded me the broth used for Norwegian potato dumplings (aka kumla). Friendly staff and great service. Will definitely be back.
