O Pescador Restaurant Knysna

Restaurant Seafood restaurant Portuguese restaurant

👍👍 This was my first time at O Pescador. The place was pretty much empty at 3:30 pm. The restaurant is large, with indoor and outdoor seating areas. I ordered sardines as a starter and they were absolutely perfect and delicious. For the main, I ordered the grilled Kinglip, which was Aldo delicious.... People often mention good, restaurant, service, great, sardines, staff, fish, delicious,

Nice views of the sunset. In a touristy part of town but the fresh catch of the day wasn’t bad.

I had the prawn curry and my friend had chicken curry... we enjoyed the flavours and the freshness of the food, the view, the atmosphere In general. If you want real flavour and good food, this is the place. You won't regret it. Try them and go back again.

It was such a good experience. Their seafood is excellent, we enjoyed every bite! The mussels were so amazing. Their spicy sauce was delicious as well, so we purchased a small jar of it. I like how they make the effort to make the food halal-friendly. Also, staff are very nice and acknowledgeable, and they make good recommendations. Thank you!

We had a superb dinner. The Mussels and Trinchado were sublime. My family and I love typical Portuguese food and O Pescador did not disappoint us. It’s a beautifully run family restaurant. Claudette made us feel at home and she accommodated all our needs. If you are looking for a sublime food experience please visit O Pescador in Knysna.

Very Friendly team and best meal, we got there almost closing time yet the team was kind enough to welcome us with smile and still gave the best service. Their Oxtail is simply the BEST and very well cooked

Visited on a quiet, cold day. Unfortunately couldn't stay long due to unforeseen circumstances, this review isn't a complete one. The fish was succulent and the chips rustic and fresh. We were warmly greeted by a lady who I assume owns the restaurant as she sat at the table next to us with friends but also was working with the other staff. Our waiter was terrific as well. Will hopefully be back to give a more comprehensive review.

Great food, and atmosphere. The Chokka was amazing, as was the Salmon salad. Crayfish small for the price, but overall excellent quality

I arrived late and they were happy to serve me which was nice. The waiter was really attentive and authentic. Nice selection on the menu and the sardines for starter and grilled king clip were very tasty. Great value for money.

I was in that area for a week, eating at different places every day. On a few occasions I ordered a steak and requested it to be done medium. The last steak of the week was at O Pescador and unlike every other restaurant I ate at, it was actually cooked to perfection. The service was great and super friendly. My hyper 18 month old daughter was a bit of a challenge so my wife and I had to take turns taking her to run outside the restaurant. Their staff interacted with her as well making my overall experience at this restaurant one of the best for this week. Keep up the great work team!

I ordered fish, calamari and prawns and they were just ok. The prawns were on the hard side with the shells not coming off easily. The fish was good quality and tasted fine. My husband had an oxtail which just had too much gravy and veggies. I asked for hot water and they charged R25 with a R10 discount. Overall, the food is just fine and there’s nothing to write home about. The service is remarkable though.

Absolutely loved loved loved our evening. There are many more popular restaurants in the area, but if you want quality over quantity then do yourself a favour and dine here. They have a simpler menu, but the quality of food is amazing. We had livers and sardines as starter. The kingklip and oxtail is very highly recommended as mains. The staff is very attentive and anticipated our needs without having to ask. We loved every minute and every morsel.

The peri-peri chicken and oxtail were very, very good! The peri-peri was HOT and the oxtail was perfectly prepared. We also had a Catemba cocktail (half Coke and half red wine).

We had a great in this restaurant. The owner are very flexible, because one of use would like to have a vegetarian meal. They served a very tasty pasta. The fish of the day, a Baby Kingklip was good and the grilled prawns as well. Thanks for the good service.

Lovely food. Great service. If you are by the coast you must have seafood because it just taste different from the city. Our waitress was very friendly. Food is so fresh. I recommend this place.

Wow, I only stopped for lunch. The soup was fabulous and the oysters were chunky. Lordette and her team are very friendly and attentive, and the kitchen staff work fast.

DELICIOUS FOOD! We stumbled across this restaurant when the one I had looked for was closed down. I am so glad we did! Friendly polite staff who were attentive. The food was delicious! Some of the best prawns and sardines we've ever had!

We arrived at the restaurant at 8 PM. They said they will close at 8.30 PM. There were ample tables available in the restaurant but when asked for table for 7, they said only way we can provide the table by making us sit on 2 different tables. When suggested to join the 2 tables at the end, her answer was - it may disturb the walk way - while the restaurant was close to getting closed. I asked for other tables and suggested that r u expecting the restaurant to be full in next 30 minutes - her answer was - it's the way it is. Clearly - either they not keen to do more business or possibly the racism factor. Whatever it is - in such a beautiful place (Knyasna Waterfront), I will be having a black dot memory for life.

Very authentic Portuguese restaurant with reasonable prices. Love the seating and the service is good. You can see that the owners are passionate about their food and customers. The grilled calamari is great with a sauce that has a hint of coconut. Really different but very tasty. The Trinchado is spectacular. The sauce is delectable. The sardines are very, very good and char grilled to perfection. The house wine is great and much better quality than what you normally get. Try them, you won't be dissapointed.

What a charming restaurant with a great location and menu. We hadn’t booked, but they went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and even readily agreed to find us an indoor table when they noticed that we were getting cold outside. The food was delicious, and served with the minimum of delay. Slightly pricey, but then cheap is seldom good, and good is not cheap. We will be back there next time we are in Knysna

An absolutely gorgeous meal. We both had fish - sardines to start. The sardines were beautifully moist and not overpowered by the peppers. The kingklip was brilliantly cooked - you could really taste the flavour of the fish. The cob was moist with a lovely flaky texture and crispy crust. The desserts were delicious. The chocolate brownie was decadently rich, the cheesecake was light and creamy. The staff were attentive and the owner/manager was extremely welcoming. The reason for the 4* for service was that our waiter didn't go through the cooking process of the fish or discuss the specials. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a lovely meal with a warm ambience.

Portuguese cuisine on the Knysna harbor. Portuguese cuisine is one of my favorite cuisines I hunt for these two authentic Portuguese dishes on my travels … We enjoyed our meal on our date night. Chicken trinchado was tasty with bread to mop up the sauce We then went for steak eggs and chips Steak cooked well A bit on the small side as our egg enveloped it .. good sauce with good chips Dessert creme brûlée was good too.. cheesecake creamy and satisfying Ambiance was nice and service really great. Overall good experience
