    Coming from UK everyone said make sure you have a meal at ocean basket. Whilst in Knysna the capital of oysters we thought it right to go. What an absolute nightmare They took 20min to take our order which was written out on our phone so they just had to copy it, they took the phone and that was it.....several minutes later my daughter had to go to the waiter and ask for it back. They then came back for the phone to take the order again as they hadn't done anything with it in the first place! Anyway 56min later we received 4 tiny bread rolls And thereafter the food platters and starters arrived The sushi was fine but the platters were not great...your probably wondering about the oysters as we still are. They missed them off the order along with a few more items. We really wanted to try the oysters but were so disappointed with the standard of the food and terribly slow service that we just gave up on them. They even got the dessert order wrong! We had to speak to the manager who after being spoken to politely and professionally agreed to give us a 50% discount. We showed him that his bill had items on that we didn't receive or order, he was embarrassed and told us to wait while he corrected the bill to exactly what we had. He couldn't even get that right. We paid more than what we should have because his 50% discount was actually more like 30% and to make it worse he still hadn't removed the items we didn't have. Absolutely Shocking Put us off Ocean basket forever

    Poor service. Unfriendly staff. Absent manager. Restaurant was 20% full but we waited 2 hours for food and ended up with food made with no love. Reading other reviews I can't believe this is a common experience by other patrons going back months and nothing is being done at all. What is the point of replying to reviews and expressing concern but no action is taken. Come on Ocean Basket Head Office get your act together

    Great Friday lunch for the Knysna Matharon. Calamari was excellent and friend enjoyed the prawns! The vibe was excellent due to the other runs and people! The waiter was friendly and good service from the kitchen. Highly recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice cause them you get to watch the yachts.

    Hi I am very disappointed and discussed with the service and quality of the food. We tryed and phone them to order our sushi. One we could not get trough we disided to drive down and order. We waited 15 min for assistance. We asked to order sushi. The chef was not very intrested to assist us, also the waiters. After i took some option offf our order to make it easy we waited 1h for our order. Then when we open it was badly maid and the sushi was everywhere we got a coffie cup for our soy sauce....we read the reviews that the service was bad but we experience it first hand we were for sure not the only table complaining. The food quality was wat shocked me also wil not be going back or spending any of my money there again. Wil aslo not recommend them. Pay attention to the reviews of your bad service.

    We have eaten at many Ocean Baskets. Knysna must be the worst of them all. Ordered take-away. Took more than an hour to prepare. No rolls to go with the mussel pots, no serviettes, no sauces for the calamari and chips and no cuttlery given. Food was ok, but had to be warmed after we had to stop and buy our own rolls. Service was terrible. While waiting for our order, we heard many other complaints. Looks like they were short staffed and not friendly at all. Not a happy customer.

    The power was off so we get only grill food. It was delicious. I don't like the service. In the winter gets cold and windy.

    We were ravenous when we got there, so we enjoyed every bite! The restaurant was a bit under staffed, so service was slow, our complimentary rolls arrived after the main meal and there were interesting smells wafting from the dock, but all in all a satisfying meal.

    The restaurant choice that never get wrong. For seafood lovers Ocean Basket is the perfect pick. That plate for two is really something. Tried in many other restaurant a similar plate, but any of them get near. Try and check by yourself.

    The meal was very nice .. and the service was also excellent, but the worker took the money and did not return the exchange, and when we told the cashier he returned the money to us and he is very angry

    This place has very affordable seafood dishes on the knysna waterfront. The view to the front overlooks the waterfront and marina and the viewto the back is of the knysna heads. Alfred the waiter was very friendly. The food was really good.

    We asked for coke Zero, there was none. we were asked if Coke light was ok, and we replied sure but no Coke light or Sprite Zero we asked for Savanah dry, and we got Savanah light instead as they were out once again The food was good, and prawns were not as fresh as we would have liked, but they were fine there was very little muscle sauce, which is the highlight of the platters We ordered extra calamari heads and were billed twice for them Summery, the food was good but the rest was far from good I am sorry to say i will not be going back there again as much as I am an ocean basket fan and normally get great food and great service in their other branches

    Friendly staff. Clean tables. Mike our waiter treated us like real guests. Super attentive! Drinks: Ice Cold. Food: Tasty, Fresh, coupled with quality. Dessert’s were nice: Baklava cheese cake-Wow! Area of improvement: Rolo Decadent Milkshake 3/10. (Mallow Whip) must fall ;) !!! Regardless thank you OB.

    Excellent food and excellent service from our waiter. But I have to report that you have a problematic Manager at this branch. She literally stood inside and watched while the 1 waiter ran himself ragged to get to all the tables. This of course made the waiting time for service longer, but the waiter could only do so much on his own. You guys really need to look into this branch, this lady managing your branch is tarnishing the good name and ethos of OB with her attitude and her behavior - your waiter could probably run this branch with more enthusiasm and team spirit.

    No visible management at all. Waiter taking his good old time and from the start got 2 of the 3 items ordered wrong. Food standing on the counter for ages. Food taking forever and a day which is why I have time to write this review. Tired and hungry waiting for food to arrive when the restaurant is only maybe 20% full. Ready to walk out. Don’t recommend at all. When I asked the waiter his excuse it’s it’s lunch time however the place is practically empty. All they offer is excuses. Edit - we walked out along with another 2 tables that we saw

    Thank you Quinton for your honesty while dealing with a very difficult day on Sunday and managing an unexpected influx of patrons in your restaurant. We valued your transparency while dealing with short staff. Our food was served fresh and well presented and thoroughly enjoyed. Thank you for going the extra mile.     This restaurant doesn't even deserve a star. 1. When ordering our drinks, we were told the hot beverages will take some time and the waiter suggested alternatives. We then ordered what was suggested and it was out of stock. 2. Had to ask for a baby seat multiple times and the seat was filthy. 3. Excuses about the bread. 4. Our food took about an hour or more to be served and was cold. 5. Under cooked prawns 6. Sushi- prawns completely raw and waiter argued with us about it. 7. We had to remind the waiter about the orders we haven't received. I am extremely disappointed in the service rendered and will not be coming back on our next family holiday.
