Didn't have the best experience at this restaurant. The service was bad. The waiter wasn't friendly and rude and the food took way too long to arrive. The biryani was dry and flavorless. Ordered two types of chicken curries and two types of lamb curries but they all tasted exactly the same. but didn't taste bad just tastes like a good sweet sauce and nothing like Indian food. Stay away from the dhal and the rotti. The dhal is a watery mess and the roti is a thin tortilla that's not even warmed.

We visited this place as this was the only Indian restaurant in Knysna. And that’s the end of good things here. We were not welcome. The person was rude. We were made to wait for 1 hour to be served. All we ordered was Veg Kadai and 3 chapatis. The chapatis were hot, the veg kadai was more like some vegetables in tomato sauce. Dal khichdi had no salt and no taste. So in summary, if you can’t eat anything else but Indian, visit this place but with zero expectation. Anything more will leave you disappointed. Looking at the other reviews, in a hindsight, I should have read those reviews ahead of time before I visited there. Regret the whole experience. If I could rate any lower than 1 star, I would have.

We just arrived in Knysna and wanted to have Indian food, we reached the restaurant and already one couple were being refused entry due to not having prior reservation. It is understood that some establishment dont accept walk-ins, but the most appalling part was the way the owner ( or may be the resturant manager ) mis-behaved by saying " we dont serve without reservation, the other couple mentioned that they don't mind sitting outside.....in reply the owner says....you can sit anywhere but no food will be served" ......never seen someone who took the business of hospitality to his head🤣😂! First they MUST learn how to treat customers respectfully.....its a shame to even call it Indian restaurant which do not follow the basic Indian cultural ettiquittes and respectful gestures.....shame on Delhi Darbar

Great food and great service from the owner! Ordered takeout this time and it was waiting for me with a smile when I walked in. Super delicious and a must visit in knysna, really not sure what the negative reviews are about!

Worst Indian food experience! Ordered five different curries, one being a butter chicken which tasted like butternut soup up to the texture. Not only were over R800, three being vegetarian, without a receipt stating what I purchased, they were not labelled and also just all very disappointing. No flavour at all and was also not filled to the line of the polystyrene bowls in fact way below. I’m from Durban and I was so excited to try our the food for a close to home experience but I’d rather make my own at home. Definitely not worth it!

The owner is very very rude and raises, only indan restaurant in the area who doesn't want any indan customers. On asking for the food menu 2 rimes he rudely said sit down i will give you . Being a monopoly he misused this monopoly. We were 4 adults with 2 kids out of which only 3 had dinner , after our dinner we checked our bill we were charged extra R33 in the name of gratuity ie if more than 4 ppl sit and have food 10% extra will be charged on the bill which is not at all practical we were 3 adults and 2 kids who had food then to we were charged 10% gratuity. And on top of that the arrogant attitude of the owner. Better be hungry than going to this restaurant and spoiling your mood and wasting yous money.

Very rude behaviour. The way we were welcomed as soon as we walked in was extremely rude. Exactly opposite to what you expect from an Indian hospitality (especially when you are visiting Indian restaurants abroad). This was the first time we went to them. I will never ever even think of visiting them again. Neither would I recommend anyone. I just walked out and started writing this review. It was such a bad experience.

Prawns were over cooked. No takeaways or dining in without a booking. Walk-ins and takeaways were turned down. Food takes 30 to 45 mins to be made. Seems like one tables food is cooked at a time for a small number of tables No alcohol sold except for wine. No price list for drinks Was charged for the ice brought to cool down the bottle of wine. Only one server and host for the 7 tables.

Coming from an indian - Very disappointed with the behaviour of the manager/owner. He was extremely rude and disrespectful. He staighaway asked us to leave as soon as we entered (we went there to join some friends who were already sitting there). Wont recommend this to anyone. I think this representative is just spoiling our indians’ reputation here in Knysna.

Really wanted to love this place. Had heard favorable reviews from locals, but to be honest I was quite disappointed. The food was decent and freshly prepared BUT the portions were actually tiny. 4 small prawns, a couple of pieces of lamb and chicken in the respective dishes meant we ordered a few extra dishes which pushed the bill up considerably. Even though we brought our own wine it was still an expensive evening for what we ate...

The food is divine. Food takes some time due to each meal being freshly cooked but worth the wait!

We had dinner at Delhi Darbar last night. Warm welcome by the owner and great recommendations. To be honest, the Onion Bajee were the best we ever had and we also loved Chicken Tikka as starter. As main course we had Chicken Bhuna and Makhani Chicken, both perfect. Had a nice chat with the owner and he constantly asked if we like everything. A very good dinner and highly recommended. One remark, only beer is sold, if you like wine, bring your own bottle.

We had the most amazing dinner, reading the comment made me quite shocked as we found the owner very friendly, we have a 3 years old and 7 years. the food tasted really good. and it was ready in about 25mn. there are about 5 tables so I think booking is essential. if we go back to Knysna we will defently go there again.

Flavourful food, small portions and check the pics of the onion salad for R30.. what a joke. I had a takeaway order otherwise I would be demanding they reverse my onion salad.

Would give 0 stars if possible. Extremely rude owner/manager with extremely racist tendencies. The menu clearly states that meals will take 30-35 minutes but in reality each course takes 30-35 minutes. We waited 45 minutes for a starter and the manger refused to take our main order until our starters were served. After we received our starter we were told we’d have to wait another 30-40 minutes for the mains? Crazy behaviour. The manger also turned away about 6 other people with his really rude and unhelpful behaviour. However to certain people of very ethnicities, his entire demeanour changed. Extremely unhelpful and unwelcoming. There are a variety of restaurants in Knysna, trust me and visit any other establishment for good service ( that takes way less than 1 and a half hours to get your food) , much more welcoming behaviour ( where you actually feel wanted) and amazing food.

The only restaurant serving Indian food in Knysna. The food was good. You will have to wait a bit longer for your food after placing the order. They usually don’t entertain guest without prior reservation as the sitting area is limited.

Such a fantastic of this cuisine. Yummy onion barji madras curry /chicken tikka massala, roti and veggie rice. All cooked and presented authenticically. The owner served us & made us very welcome. As the food is cooked to order my friend and I had a lovely glass of wine. Very pleasant atmosphere and I recommend the food 100% 👌

Absolutely disgusting and disaster food. I think family run and operated. Food was pathetic and service or atmosphere nothing to rev about. They close the restaurant as they wish depending on how busy the cook has been that day. To close by 815pm on weekends is ridiculous. Don’t waste your time here

Delhi Darbar - Definitely a must should you want to experience a different atmosphere to the norm of Knysna, Authentic Indian cuisine with a great selection of wine available. Would most certainly recommend a visit🙌

7@11, Gray Street, Knysna Central, Knysna. Delhi Darbar sells the most amazing curries. My husband had the meat curry with butter naan and I had their prawn curry with rice. Coming from Cape Town where there are lots of curries to chose from, their prawn curry is definitely top-class.. if it was possible to give 6 stars then I would have

The owner was amazing. The food delicious. I had a lamb madras and my husband a chicken vindaloo. Both we amazing. Unique taste for each dish. We phoned ahead because we heard it was busy. There were take aways galore while we were there. Efficient service lovely atmosphere. Best curry we have had and we have eaten all over Cape Town

Worst service by the owner. To be frank (and it might be hard to believe), the owner was very racist and arrogant which just created an underwhelming experience. I do not recommend visiting this restaurant

The food was so incredibly delicious! And even though there was a loadshedding, we didn't have to wait too long to get our food.
