As a local patron, I've frequented this spot often, but December brought unwelcome changes. The surge in prices felt disproportionate, making it ridiculously overpriced. Moreover, the lack of displayed prices on select drinks added to the frustration. While the food remains excellent, the sluggish service during this time made the experience less enjoyable. I'll be holding off my visits until after the season to fully relish my local spot without the inflated prices.

This is not the first time I have had a terrible experience at this place. The location is amazing but today we waited over 2 hours for our sushi, and then eventually just cancelled it. Even when cancelled it took another 30 minutes to get the bill. It’s the second time I’ve given my number for someone to call me about this and I never get a call. It’s such a pity because it can be a great place. I’m honestly not a person to complain but this is a recurring problem.

We didn't expect much as our budget was small but we were surprised by super friendly staff and an excellent location. We stayed 3 nights in Dec. The rooms are on the middle floor, rooftop bar on the top. Expected more noise but it wasn't bad. Rooms are clean and tidy and has all you need. Comfy beds but maybe take your own pillow. Convenience store in the building. Even has wine! Location is perfect. It is literally on the beach. We had the best time, could easily have stayed longer.

Great location, right next to the beach, but if you sit on the ground level you can't see the ocean, just screaming toddlers on jungle gyms. Place is quite loud and vibey. Far busier than they can handle. Service was awful, extremely slow, tables were dirty and sticky, food was below average and overall not great value for money. Probably a great place out of season, but wouldn't recommend it during December.

The service was way below par. Our menus were only taken away once another waitress needed it for new customers. Our drinks took around 30mins to come without any explanation from our waiter. We weren't asked once if we enjoyed our meal or if we needed anything else. My hake was quite nice but my boyfriend's meal of mussels in sauce was very disappointing. The mussels had clearly been cooking in this sauce for a while as they were dry and overcooked with some of the shells broken and with quite sharp edges. If someone were to mistakenly eat a sharp shard like this they could really really hurt themselves. To top it all off the mussels weren't properly debearded, so every now and again there was a lovely little grainy surprise. All in all, based on food and service, this establishment will not be seeing me again, nor would I recommend it, despite its lovely beach setting.

What a disappointment! Yes, the restaurant is busy, but surely you adapt your service accordingly? A 20 minute wait time just to get in. And then 10 min wait for drinks order.....and then 1 h20 min wait for food...checking twice with waiter on the food...only to realize the order was NEVER put in. Service is atrocious. Flying on location alone does not a great reputation make.

Food and services was good, though we will not reccommend the prawns. Not value for money. The rooms is nice and clean. We had a well deserved rest. Thank you guys.

We went there for lunch, conveniently located from our house. Nice welcome, nice waiter, but what a disappointment with my main course; the mussels, it is so easy to cook delicious mussels, but obviously this place don’t know how to. Very small portion for the price. My partner’s sole was kind of ok, I tried the rice and the veggies, not very tasty and over cooked. The setting is nice as you have your feet on the sand and the pizza was good with a fine crust. Definitely not the kind of place I’ll go back to…

Burying my feet in the sand with mojito in hand is a fabulous way to spend a Wednesday afternoon! The food was delicious, the signature dish of chicken was my choice and really good value for money. The pizza was fully packed, just too good not to finish! The mains of calamari also delicious and worth a try! We will be back!

Everything was SO overpriced for the quality. Low grade Sushi not at all worth the price, the speciality chicken dish was dry, very average prawns and pizza also not worth the price. Although the food was 2 stars, the service was amazing- kind and tentative staff. The location is also beautiful, and coffee was good. Plus they have almond milk which is so helpful!

Ordered a beer and a bacon and blue cheese pizza. After 20 min my beer was finished after more than an hour elapsed since placing my pizza order(hour and 15 min to be exact) STILL no pizza, not even asked if I would like another beer. If you want 1 beer go there and enjoy else avoid this place at all cost

Great food BUT very poor service they take advantage of the tourists. I live in the area and have been trying to take our Geust there for some times now and every time the bring the order out wrong and don’t even have all the meals out and the worst is they bring out half the food and some times if you lucky the rest comes out 20 minutes later so some of us are finished eating and the others still sitting with no food. we have complained every time. This happens inn session and out of season, very disappointed, I have never experienced this before I understand a once off problem but nearly every time we go there is very poor service the poor new manager had received a mouth full from my guest we even cancelled the rest off the orders and left

Super slow service , waited over 50min for the order ! The pizza was great, but the chicken we ordered was slightly underdone in the middle and the marinade was burnt on top also had strange black colour on the bottom just not appealing at all! The vibe is good and the views are amazing the staff is friendly

We did not stay we had the food. Great vibe for sundowners. The food is very good. The best here is Rib’s and Pizza. We also had the fish and also a great meal. Calamari is not at the top but many other great choices.

I don't like to be negative however. We waited 1. 5 hours for our breakfast on the first day.. When we received our drinks the glass was dirty.. The waiters all sit inside chatting so when we needed to place a order for food I had to get up and order and the counter.. We told management but there is no interest to change if it was not for the location they would be out competeted long time ago.. The food is good thou. Service terrible..

A wonderful location spoilt by slow service and so so food. On our first visit we left after waiting 15 minutes without a waiter showing any interest. On the 2nd we did eventually manage to catch a waiter's attention to bring us a beer, but had to go looking for him again in order to order food. We tried the ribs which were adequate, but not great, very tough. The accompanying veg and chips were good and the vibe is very cool. Now all they need to do is get the service up to scratch.

Can't wait to be back in the area next December! I all already looking forward to eating their signature dish again - Lemon & Herb chicken, with savory rice and roasted veg. It was totally delicious and each party was fine just right. We enjoyed the laid back vibe and the big fire, nice to have the beach sand between our toes and to know the sea is just over the dune we are sitting at the bottom of.

It's a lovely restaurant and good service. Menu is also decent and not big. I had pizza with work colleagues. A popular place for the locals. It's right by the beach. Sat on the outside benches which are on the sand dune. Definitely nice vibes. It's a great place for families. If you had a big meal you can walk it off on the beach. Beautiful sunset views on the beach. I recommend it👌🏾

Great pizzas. Couldn’t help but order seafood being basically on the beach. It was a little oily to my liking, but the location makes up for it. Kids love playing on the dunes!

We took advantage of the Monday pizza special (get 2 for R150.00). Pizza was only OK, not that great. Burnt edges with raw toppings. Maybe just a once off. Will be back. Also service could have been a touch better. Waiter not following up often enough (in my opinion).

Great food, great people, great vibe.. loved enjoying the outdoors (despite being winter) with a sundowner and good food. Perfect setting for a chilled lunch or early dinner and a drink with good friends. Sand between your toes.. this is the beach life..

Lovely beach restaurant, very chilled atmosphere, friendly staff. Our meals were excellent, my salad was packed with flavour and texture and the blue cheese and cranberry pizza was apparently also a winner. Great place for lunch and a cold drink after a morning on the beach.

Just an fantastic place to have a meal. The service was good, the food was good and best of all was the position. Right next to one of the most beautiful beaches we've been too. Theres a kids play area right in the sand. There are even tables outside in the sand. Definitely worth a visit!

One of my favourite restaurants. Just love the warm atmosphere. And the food has always exceeded my expectations. Cocktail menu available. Now added sushi to their menu offering. Classic whiskey collection that will impress connoisseurs. And all that while I have my feet in the sand at my table.

Good location, next to the beach. Excellent coffee at a reasonable price. Milkshake was also excellent value for money. The pizza was good but a bit pricey. Went again the following day and had the Thursday special. Excellent value for money (the fish & chips). Increased the stars from 3 to 4.

  • 4/5 Kurt “Shibby” H. 9 months ago on Google
Our waiter was very nice and was fast to help with anything we needed. The milkshakes were very nice. Unfortunately we were there on a rainy day but the atmosphere inside was nice and cozy.

Favorite spot in Sedgefield. Beach vibes. Good grub. Cold beer. Great spot to take the kids, grab a pizza. Hot or cold days. Cold winter nights you can expect a couple fire pits going. Summer time is perfect. You're literally on the beach, the ocean breeze is subdued by dunes. PULL IN!

Amazing! Best pizza, delicious juicy fish and chips and sushi that had us coming back. Lovely, friendly waiters and all round experience we will never forget.

The vibe is great as is the view, they are professional and its well run. I cant say the pizzas are amazing, they are OK at best. Its unfortunate that they dont have much variety, and you are not able to swap out toppings, especially if you are vegetarian as then you are very very limited. If you are a vegetarian who does not like mushrooms or olives, you are going to have a bad time food wise. We just go there for drinks and garlic focaccia instead, which is nice crispy base compared to the pizza.

Over the years we have come here a lot. Unfortunately it’s getting worse and worse. If you come for drinks and don’t mind a wait then it’s a good place in a great location. Waiters don’t introduce themselves and you never seem to get just one. There are a few (very few) waiters who seem to know what they are doing, polite, friendly and helpful. That is followed up by incredibly slow service. Sedge is a slow town but not that slow. The cleanliness of the place has gotten worse over the years. It’s unacceptable. No restaurant should have so many reviews complaining about dirty cutlery and glasses. The food is okay, sometimes you get lucky and it is good, unfortunately more often than not it is below average. It is incredibly expensive considering you could visit other places along the garden route that have incredible standards and amazing food for almost half the price on some dishes. *if you can’t cook and egg you should NOT be in a restaurant kitchen! I don’t know if the management has stayed the same over the years but they have either lost all interest or they have no understanding of what they are doing. The fact that there aren’t even responses to all the reviews people have posted with pretty bad experiences speaks volumes.

The food took more than an hour to arrive after ordering. Fish was frozen, not fresh as the waiter claimed before ordering. Chips was processed oven chips not potatoes. Food for table was not served at the same time. Really just a place to drink warm beer and shooters while looking at the sea. Manage your expectations accordingly. Disappointed.

👍👍 I enjoyed my time and food at 34 Degrees South. If you sit outside, you get treated to awesome views too of what can be described like Venice. Towards the latter part of the day, you'll see a gorgeous South African sunset (if there are no clouds). I had some wine by the glass, one of the few places...
