👍👍 Nice backyard restaurant serving lots of local game and traditional dishes mixed with their interpretation of European classics. Very nice and authentic service. Lots of Germans around when we've been there. People often mention restaurant, service, staff, steak, South, nice, Nguni, great, good, friendly,

I really like the concept of this restaurant, Nguni meat, modern African interior and music, but the food just wasn't that exciting for me, especially after reading the other reviews. The staff was great, service was excellent, although being asked by 3 people if we are enjoying the food straight after each other, is a bit much. We shared a boboti springroll starter which was nice but the spices could have been stronger. The steak was really tasty, although pink when ordering well done. My cold meats platter was edible but nothing exciting, had a similar platter 2days ago at Donegal wines and it was riveting, but the tastes here was flat, the best on the plate was the cumin flavoured beetroot! The cuppacino wasn't great, good coffee is a must. This place has amazing potential, but sadly the best of our dinner was the staff.

Excellent food and great atmosphere. Unfortunately, the waitress charged twice for a glass of Brandy she brought with ice despite ordering it neat. An unfortunate turn of events since otherwise the service has been impeccable.

We made reservations here for our first night in Plettenberg. We were all very impressed with the service, the atmosphere, and the food. The service though was really what set Nguni apart. It is likely the best service we have received in over a year in South Africa, truly spectacular.

On point. Lovely service. Relaxing ambiance. Detail-oriented & timely staff. Excellent food. A fantastic meal and experience with friends. Can't wait to visit again. (I rarely write reviews but Nguni was a memory I won't forget.)

I would like to give 5 stars, but I can't. I love the place, it's a very nice and cosy one. The stuff is superb, very charming and very interested. They always look after you. It's a very nice menu, there are various interesting dishes on it. But we had some trouble. The filet from the springbock wasn't tender but cooked well. The peri peri chicken was ok, but nothing special. They added to much lemon to all components which covered all other flavor, also the chilli for my understanding. So I think and hope they are a lot better and we were a litle but unlucky...

Lovely restaurant with indoor seating and an outdoor undercover patio. First time trying Springbok! Staff were very friendly (thank you Robert!) and food was delicious.

Nguni Restaurant in Plettenberg Bay is a delightful culinary spot, with a unique approach to South African cuisine. Nestled in a charming, artfully decorated setting, the restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Nguni's menu is a tribute to local flavors, focusing on traditions. The presentation of food is simple and no-nonsense, complementing the overall rustic yet local vibe of the place. For dessert I strongly recommend the typical South African dessert, with Amarula, absolutely fantastic! Service is warm and attentive, adding a personal touch to the dining experience. Pricing is very reasonable, high value for money. For those looking to savor the essence of South African culinary traditions in a relaxed and home-like environment, Nguni is a top choice in Plettenberg Bay.

Ate here a few nights ago and had a wonderful experience. The food is spectacular! I had the kingklip which was tender and buttery. The wine selection is brilliant too. Beautiful setting as well in an old dairy. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Lots of fun artwork adorns the walls. Highly recommend.

My partner is Spanish and he kept raving about the Gazpacho being the best he’s tasted in South Africa. Overall we were impressed with the taste of the food. ABSOLUTELY delicious! Cheesecake was out of this world. We’ll definitely be back for more. Honorable mention to our lovely waiter Jojo.

What a lovely dinner. We were greeted by a friendly and welcoming Robert. The restaurant itself has such a cozy and unique charm. Our waiter Stuart was wonderful and attentive and very good with children. The food was incredible and the service was great.

The food was amazing and it feels like you are in a house more than a restaurant. The lights were really dim which made it hard for some people to view the menus so they were using their phone torches to view.

It was early season and Plett was quiet. The restaurant was uncrowded so we were able to relax. We were looked after exceptionally well by JoJo. He was a delight. All of our food was out of this world. I had the Nguni rib eye which was one of the best steaks I have had. It was a bit disappointing that the owner came to every table, except ours. We seemed to be steadfastly ignored as I tried a couple of times to get her attention to compliment her food and staff. Highly recommended.

Beautiful setting and decor. Very limited wine selection. My Fillet was accompanied by a delicious chimichuru sauce which was better than the steak itself. A small steak, the accompanied potatos were good, but somehow the plate lacked substance and maybe a additional veg or green would have justified the Cape Town price tag... The baked camembert was OK, but the accompanied price tag was as ridiculous .... My partner had the Orange Almond Campari Cake which was delicious and zesty paired perfectly with Crème Fraiche. Slightly overpriced for the quality/quantity of the food.

Food is ok but not outstanding. Had far better steaks and fish for same price. In addition it was not easy to get a table - not because it was fully booked, but because nobody answered the phone as well as no possibility to book online. Wouldn’t go there again.

🇸🇦 I’m so excited to tell you that is the best meat I have ever tasted in South Africa!!! The place is cozy, the atmosphere is nice. The most important is restaurant owner, she is so nice and respected person. When we finished eating she accompanied us outside to say goodbye. Big love from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦

Thoughtfully sourced ingredients, personal service, very good selection of wines. Delicious food, nicest potatoes we have had in a while (crispy crunchy). Book to avoid disappointment especially in high season.

Excellent food, the Kingklip delicious as was my husband's steak. Desserts yummy.

I asked for ketchup to be told by the cheeky manager, "who puts ketchup on their steak"???? The steaks around the table were not all the same size, one was much smaller than the others. We were told that the potatoes were roasted, they came having been deep fried, had I not been so hungry I would have sent the whole dish back. All in all a disappointing experience!!

A little gem of a restaurant. Food was amazing and they catered for our 4 children too. Food was served piping hot- everything was perfect. A big thanks to our server Eunice who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend.

Wow, best dinner we had in South Africa. Fantastic food, in perfection, great service, couldn’t ask for better. Recommendations from me, try the ostrich fillet in medium rare or the tuna steak.

An old fisherman's cottage built around 1850 converted into a cozy restuarant. Service is always good. I had the Tuna Steak, I would have liked it seared as asked for, instead of cooked through. My partner ordered the Fillet done medium, but it was presented rare. The other meal we ordered were the prawns, not cheap at R300. Over sauced and way to much garlic and certainly not as fresh as they should be. They were soft and fluffy in texture. Would I go back ? NO.

The biggest mistake one can do, is being around and not stopping by here for lunch or dinner. Absolutely tasty! Everything we had! We definitely come again to try some more dishes from the menu!

did not like! unfortunately the waiter who served us was in a bad mood, the food leaves a lot to be desired considering the value. the point of meat is good, but not worth what it costs.

Nice place, with parking nearby, great host and staff. Food was very tasty and it didn’t take long to get ready. Can’t really complain about the restaurant itself but I did feel uncomfortable by the environment. I was unfortunately rudely disturbed by a table next to ours by a rude gentleman who got up to complain about me (I was simply talking). I think it might be better off to go to a more approachable restaurant with a nicer crowd.

One of the best dinner we had in SA so far. The Springbok paired with the Babylonstoren Babel was the best suggestion by our sweet waitress. My wife ordered the ostrich fillet which was also very delicious! If in Plett you can’t miss out on this special place!

👍👍 I enjoyed my time and food at 34 Degrees South. If you sit outside, you get treated to awesome views too of what can be described like Venice. Towards the latter part of the day, you'll see a gorgeous South African sunset (if there are no clouds). I had some wine by the glass, one of the few places...
