Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this museum .

Pity to see that maintenance is obviously neglected. Staff in attendance today were also not really visitor friendly.

Museums are (always) interesting places to gather information and learn on (primarily) historical matters. The theme in this museum is diverse of info around Knysna and sometimes seems unrelated. There is information about the mayors of the town over the years, local gangs, angling (fishing) and ships that sailed past the nearby shores; there is info on Titanic though no link to SA history. The maintenance of Old Gaol seems low but the building is not rundown. Receptionist and service is professional. Entrance fee is affordable and you can leave a tip (supposedly for upkeep) if you wish. If you're keen on learning something new that has trusted and validated information, a museum is a good place to go to, even if it seems that all information presented is unrelated to each other.

Great space where the Knysna Art Society showcase exhibitions. Also houses a museum.

Was a good experience. Could use some better upkeeping, but was still very interesting.

Really enjoyed this little outing. It’s not just about the Old Gaol, but also has a maritime section, angling section and a lot about the history of Knysna which I found fascinating. No guided tours (I prefer to take my time anyway so suited me fine) & lots of info on the walls as well as QR codes for further reading. AND… it was FREE!

The history of the Old Goal is very interesting and includes a room dedicated to the ill fated Titanic. The walls of the buildings leave no doubt that this was once the local goal.

We were in and out pretty fast because we came just before closing time, but we saw a few interesting things. You learn a lot about how Knysna was founded and about the lake and the ships that first entered the lake. Knysna has a rich history and it's always fun learning more about it. Would like to visit again some day.

Didn't get the placement or reason for a room dedicated to titanic. A lot of spaces seemed unmanaged and not used to their full potential. Did appreciate the numbers gang room.

it's good place to visit and you will gain lot of information about knysna history

Informative look into aspects of Knysna's past. Surprisingly interesting history of angling section. Needs TLC so visit while it is still in reasonably good condition.

Interesting but limited number of exhibits means this I a 20 minute visit rather than an hour or longer.
