A great time spent at Monkeyland! The guides are clearly so passionate about the monkeys. You won’t get this up close and personal with monkeys in many places in a ethical way. A tip, wear mosquito repellent as there are lots! A defiant visit!

Highly recommended tour, that I’d advise not only for children. Very important to apply anti mosquito cream, they will offer you free. There are 500 hundred monkeys spread over 12 hectors of walking trails (about 10 monkey species) Also the monkeys have complete freedom around the place but they wont harm you.

Loved this experience so much. Our guide was well spoken and gave us all the answers to our questions. Very informative with the odd joke. Park is well maintained and clean. Monkeys are well looked after and spoiled as they say.

This place is great ! I just wish they would list that you should wear proper footwear, as it's muddy and you will slip in slide in your sandals and such. Also, put on mosquito repellent, I was in shorts and look like I have been hunted down by every mosquito at the park. I had been bite free during the Plett holiday 😂. Our guide Prince was very knowledgeable and made the hour walk feel like 10 Min. The highlight for my niece and I was were the Gibbons, we were lucky enough to have one have a snack by us and see her walk away which was ADORABLE

This was really special and our guide Prince made the entire tour funny and enjoyable. We bought a dual-ticket for Monkeys & Birds and cost R450 for both which I think is very fair-priced considering the conservation, neatness of the grounds and guided tours. The monkeys are free-roaming but they don't jump on you...but the vervet monkeys might eye to grab something and dash. Kids can be taken into the park but it is quite a walk and the routes aren't paved. This might make it difficult for disables visitors but the routes are well maintained. Bathrooms are clean but only available at the main building/entrance. There is also a cafe which is very reasonably priced which I would recommend. I would definitely go again. Parking is ample and free.

So impressed! Tour guide VERY knowledgeable. So wonderful to see monkeys running around freely. They give you free mosquito repellent, put LOTS on. Recommended for all ages. Lovely cafe at beginning/end of tour to grab a snack.

A large forest area populated with nine different monkey species. Thus, a visitor can walk around and observe their life in almost natural conditions. Guided excursions are performed regularly and allow the visitors to learn more about the inhabitants of the park. You can see that the guides like the monkeys, take care of them, and the animals are not scared of people.

Such an awesome experience. We saw 8 of the 9 species of primates. The guides are knowledgeable, experienced and entertaining. Try to go during feeding times. Beware of the blue vervet monkeys. (P.s. the restaurant is horrible. Give it a skip. The waitresses are rude and lazy, the "Jane Doe" lemonade is Shwepps, the meat was raw, the food was cold and some people were already finished by the time other's food came. The waitresses are more concerned with their phones. They are dressed inappropriately...

What an amazing, guided tour in and amongst the monkeys at Monkeyland - they are not in cages which makes the experience absolutely delightful - I would certainly recommend this to all

Absolutely loved this place, the guide was very informative and chatty. There were so many monkeys and lemurs which would come up close. There were some babies playing together and it was so nice to see.

I wish the birds of eden was more supervised like monkey land was. Many people chased birds and tried to catch them. Birds of eden felt crowded by birds in a few places. Despite that it’s incredible what they provide for previously caged birds and makes me rethink being a bird owner. Loved it.

I would have given a higher rating because the experience on the guided tour with Elano was wonderful. However what brought the rating down was the restaurant. We bought two Sir Juice 200ml and was surprised to pay R70. This is daylight robbery. They retail for R16.50 at other outlets. It is outrageous to pay this price.

Since my last visit, a big change. Experience tour guide, who shared his knowledge with us and we saw all the different monkeys. A must visit, although there is a lot of mosquitoes, it is still worth the visit.

Such a peacefull forrest like environment . All the animals seems so happy and is well fed . I was told that the monkeys actually,by means of a trust, owns the land. Such a great idea. Very sad that some humans are keeping monkeys as pets.

You'll definitely see a lot of monkeys. The situation in the waiting room was awkward, as we were kind pushed to give more money. Tour was cool, we learned a lot about the animals and you get close to them (better do not take sunglasses with you). Price for the tour was okay.

Nice enclosed area where you walk on the monkeys natural habitat. Most of them have been reintroduced to the wild coming from people's houses , rehabilitation centres and human laboratories....wait, the last one I'm not sure 🤔

What a wonderful experience. Well-informed guides are ready to answer all questions and so many beautiful monkeys to see. Always keep a look out along the paths bushes as there are many lemurs taking naps and snuggling

Amazing experience! Arrived just before closing time, so was fortunate enough to get a provate tour during feeding time. Great to see the primates rehabilitated and given so much space (12ha I believe) to roam free. Definitely try to visit during feeding hours!

Lovely experience up close with all the monkeys. A must see when in the area. Guides are good with children and keeping the monkeys from getting rowdy.

Awesome experience! From the service at the restaurant to the educated tour guides, everyone was friendly and helpful. Quite amazing to see the monkeys roaming around in their natural habitat - without cages! Our guide was very educated and had so many interesting little stories to tell us about all the monkeys. Love seeing people so passionate about animals and nature and using their skills to educate the public. It leaves you with great appreciation and respect for nature and animals.

The places are magnificent. I was in awe of the beauty. I do have one complaint. We had lunch at Monkeyland restaurant and ordered steak rolls. What a disappointment! It was cooked poorly and was more sinew than meat. I didn't eat half of it and only because I was hungry. I think management should look into it

Familiar size not too industrial. We visited Monkey land with the guide Ashley. Very friendly and her pedagogy is adapted with international tourists and childs. We walked with her and a little group during one hour and met many monkeys. We can't touch them.

Birds of Eden was absolute stunning! It is a bit pricey, but due to the knock on effect of COVID it is understandable they need local tourist to support them to keep this place going. It is definite must see!!

Wow what an amazing experience I didn’t know we had something like this in South Africa. Just a short drive out of Plettenberg Bay, we arrived at Monkeyland not knowing what to expect. The sanctuary was beautiful, our guide was excellent and full of good stories. Some of the little monkeys walk through our group carefree. The sounds, the scenery and the beautiful animals was such an awesome experience. We went to Birds of Eden right after and I was blown away at the size of the sanctuary. Felt like I was walking through a jungle filled with so many species of birds and other small wildlife. The waterfalls and river streams combined with the sounds of the birds really makes you forget you’re in a town and makes you feel like you’re in the middle of the Amazon jungle. Ticket prices aren’t cheap but it’s totally worth it and the money goes to preserving the sanctuary. There’s plenty of parking. I would imagine it would be very difficult for disabled in wheelchairs but not impossible. There are gift shops and a small restaurant inside

Very interesting as always and a very informative guide. Plenty of time for photos and questions. Our first visit with all the kids and perhaps a 'pit stop' somewhere along the tour is necessary. Very long walk for young ones.

Great tour at monkeyland, guide elano was very helpful. Saw 95% the monkeys. Birds of eden was nice. Saw lots of birds.

Along with birds of Eden this is a must visit if you're on the garden route. The guides are very knowledgeable. The monkeys roam about freely right by you. When we visited they had 9 species and we were fortunate enough to spot all 9, the gibbon is the most elusive. Best to get the combo ticket along with birds of Eden.

  • 5/5 Susan V. 1 year ago on Google
This place is awesome. Our guide, Prince, was very informative about the monkeys and apes. And the surroundings, it felt like he had a secret arrangement with the monkeys to specially appear. This sanctuary is very well cared and looked after. I recommend a visit. Watch out for the sneaky monkey thief. Best not to wear jewelry or shiny objects. Thank you for an amazing experience.

I'm an animal and nature lover and thoroughly enjoyed being so close to these semi-wild little creatures. The staff seem to care for these little 🐒 ones that can never be released into the wild again, with passion and understanding. Most informative and enjoyable outing. Tour Guide was even able to provide information about a species of monkeys that we had seen there many years prior. Sadly, I was irritated by some foreign visitors who were completely impatient with the tour guide and wanted to run through the place, whilst the guide had to explain multiple times, that it was a guided tour! Go and take some time to enjoy a little bit of the wild - it is a spiritual experience.

A true paradise, such an incredible experience being close to the birds inside their aviary dome set in the mountains outside of Plettenberg Bay.

  • 5/5 Chrisna N. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely wonderful. The guided tour at Monkeyland was so informative with a great guide and even though it rained we still saw monkeys. Friendly staff! Birds of Eden is an absolute paradise, we were walking through the garden for two hours just enjoying all the birds. The restaurant needs some work as they do not have everything available on the menu and we did not end up eating something but the rest was great!

Had the best of service with Tour Guide and Laura at front desk, think she is the manager. Keep up the great work all these years Laura and me,wife and kids really enjoyed our visit straight out of Capetown and the warm heart welcoming. Thanks to Mr Ralph Savage also for assisting us when we walked in. I love you guys and be safe God Bless

Really nice seeing all the monkeys around you. They are free and it doesn’t feel like a zoo. You walk past them while they feed and play. Highly recommended

  • 5/5 Tasneem A. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely love any experience with animals. Do not expect to touch & hold the animals as this is stressful for them & not encouraged in the sanctuary. It was however lovely to watch them wander around freely & we were there close to feeding time to see even more of them.

  • 3/5 Jaymin Dave (. 1 year ago on Google
It's ok.. you get to see monkeys in open, it's an experience, if it's raining, don't think of going there, it's waste. You will find only few types visible. Also, it's slippery. If you still want to go, find a spot in sunny day.

  • 5/5 James B. 11 months ago on Google
Absolutely brilliant, tour guide was informative, interesting and had a great sense of humour. Lots of monkeys and you are so close to them you could touch them. The monkeys are not in cages and can move around freely as they wish.

  • 5/5 Shawne B. 11 months ago on Google
Was a lot of fun!! Be careful of being rained on(or worse!) Also the velvets seem to like dark glasses! Certainly not a boring outing and everyone had a lot of fun!

  • 5/5 Esther J. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely love this place. A fun morning for the whole family with these charismatic animals. We also just bought the primates a couple of square feet of land that they will own themselves! A revolutionary project to empower animals (I took mainly videos, hence not such a great photo).
