The waterfall area is beautiful, with many large pools perfect for swimming in the heat! The hike concludes with quite a lengthily boardwalk in the trees which is great for spotting birds at eye level and generally getting a nice viewpoint down to the river. The โ€œhikeโ€ (more of a walk really) was really easy and I would recommend it to people of all ages and abilities. The only reason it got 4/5 stars is the sheer amount of litter around the waterfall. (More than I could carry back in my small hiking bag)

Epic walk to the waterfall from Ebb and Flow. 8km round trip on a board walk, with a swim in the waterfall and pools below. Waterfall swimming not advised for less abled people as there is rock scrambling to get in and out of the water

Wilderness National Park is situated just off the N2 and is a nice way to spend a few hours or to camp. There are various activities: Canoe along the river (from 1 - 4hrs) add on a hike to a waterfall or just do the hike on its own (You can cross the river on a little pontoon). The campsites look nice, but you can hear the N2. There is an entrance fee of R48 unless you have a wildcard and canoe rental starts at R150 per hour.

This is the ideal park to go on half day walk with family and friends. If you walk up and down on the right side (East side of the river) the path is super smooth and well organized with plenty of wooden platform. The West side it's a bit more rough but still easy. The waterfall is really cute and your can chill once there, get some sun and read a book. Be careful as it might be slippery up there. It's easy, do it!

Beautiful scenery. Always special staying over at Wilderness National Park. Tranquil and peaceful. Love being so close to nature. Rise and shine early morning, sunrise stroll through the park and enjoy the fresh air. Nice wholesome breakfast and late afternoon braai as the sunset. Canoeing on the river and take a dip too. Keep a look out for the Knysna Loerie. Pack up and go visit Wilderness National Park now.

The Kingfisher hike is really worth it. Even with smaller kids it is an adventure to add to your bucket list. Our two kids (7 and 4) completed the hike to the waterfall and back. The pontoon crossing a firm favourite of their holiday in the garden route.

An awesome park. I really enjoyed our stay there. Friendly helpfull staff. Good 24 hour security. Well kept clean facilities with a laundry and scullary are available. There are chalets available but if you really want to experience nature, you need to camp. Lovely walks with canoe rentals are available, or you can just relax next to the river. With only a minutes drive from the ocean it is very convenient. Shops and restaurants are also close by. I love this place and would recommend it to everyone!

The Ebb and Flow camp is such a beautiful camp with so much to do. There are a few hiking trails named after various Kingfishers, you can canoe on the Touw and Serpentine rivers for which you can rent canoes in the camp, lots of birdlife. There is a section for day visitors and quite a few overnight options from camping to chalets.

Directed at office and Rangers(not the parks) Yesterday, 17 January 2021,we were standing at the look out point next to the Wilderness Gardens Estate when we saw something crawling out of the water and tossing and turning. Keep further in mind that beaches are closed at this time due to lockdown regulations. Looking closer,it looked like a seal. Seeing it as an exception, with nobody that could tell me otherwise after enquiring and a living creature in distress, I went down to the beach to investigate. Got there, and it was a baby Cape Fur seal that was entangled and in distress(normally feisty when you get close, this one was not) I phoned Sanparks to report and mentioned exact location, there are not many Wilderness Beach Hotels and Wilderness Gardens Estate,is there? I was told that rangers would be sent to assist. It is now Monday 18 January 2021, and they are yet to arrive, after calling the office as well as a member of Sanparks directly. I have no experience in handling such animals. I tried my best for over 3 hours-just made curfew, and the animal got freed and rested and went back to the ocean. So happy ending at least. I also kept it cool as it was literally baking in the sun.(I know they sometimes lie in the sun, this was not the case,it was stuck, entangled in the sun) My questions is, why can Sanparks act quickly if you set one foot wrong in a matter of minutes, but cannot act when animals are in need? Is it because it was a Sunday? Or does Sanparks only cater for plant life?? If they could not assist, then just say so and I would have gone somewhere else, but I think its a double standard in putting up boards all over with rules and warnings if you mess with wildlife, but don't even take care of helping with distressed animals. I would like a response to my questions please.

Magnificent hidden gem, tucked into one of the most dramatic and beautiful places on earth. Visit this place if you haven't yet. River valleys and old forests meet the coastline. Time works differently here and the people from this region are welcoming and very 'old-world'.

Gorgeous hiking trails, canoeing trips and camping sites. Hiking trails are for all fitness levels. Picnic spots are also available along your route so pack some snacks and just enjoy nature! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ There is a small fee to enter - R52 for South African residents.

For hikers and canoers. Whether the R190 for foreign visitors is worth it is your call. I enjoyed the walk through indigenous woods

What a pleasant experience at Garden Route National Park - Ebb and Flow. It is such a beautiful area! The accommodation was superb! Aircon, fireplace, Wheelchair friendly with an entire bathroom equipped for wheelchairs. The house had stylish decor and all you need in the kitchen. Everything was clean and in excellent working order. The King Fisher trail was fantastic to walk! Can't wait to visit the park again.

Had a lovely time renting a kayak and kayaking up the river. We were pleasantly surprised to find that there is a stop-off point where you can hike up to natural falls. It was lovely and we will be back to do it again. We noted cabins and rondavels, so will probably "have" to stay longer next time as well. ;)

Very high price to get in, 180 rand is too much for this park, other national parks are better at less than half of the price (robbeberg)

For some fun and adventure on the river, this is a must when visiting Wilderness. Hire canoes and paddle up the river with lots of bird life and a waterfall if you're feeling like a short hike after the paddle

  • 5/5 Peter E. 3 years ago on Google
Stunningly beautiful views. You can hire paddle boards and kayaks and explore the beautiful Touw River. Take a hike up to the waterfalls, via the easy path and boardwalk. Its about 3km to the falls but well worth the effort and you can take a dip in the rockpool by the falls.

Very nice pace to go for a walk. Very clean and well maintained with the expected infrastructure for camping and more. The river and the hike around to the waterfall was the main attraction form me, but the rowing also looks like a very pleasant way to see the same route.

I didnโ€™t get enough photos to justify the beauty of this reserve. There is a fanatic trail to hike as well as well kept camping grounds. If you in the area definitely worth trying a boat ride, kayak, hike or camp!

Sanparks is superb. Very efficient system. All Covid stuff exemplary. Just done a 2 hour trail from Ebb and Flow camp. The trail was in excellent condition despite the recent very heavy rains and wind. The signage also was superb, and directions for the routes excellent and accurate. I so wish some of the Cape Nature reserves were half as good on their trails. Many Cape Nature reserves haven't even opened yet!!
