This is our second time visiting, and we will be returning soon! Beautiful and homely wood cabins by the lagoon... twenty steps and you are on the little private beach. Every day the chalet is cleaned and they bring fresh towels. They also bring wood for the braaier every afternoon, which is another plus! It does get very hot and humid with no air conditioning. However, there are roof fans that helps a lot. It is very safe and you are able to leave the windows and doors open for the breeze to flow through the chalet. The chalets are very close to each other, so if you like your privacy or peace and quiet... maybe book one of the hillside chalets. Our alarm clock consisted of small children screaming early next door. At night we slept with the windows and bedroom door open, to wake up two mornings with a different cat cuddled up on our bed. Probably sneaking in to get away from the rain. The cats are very sweet! They are not feral and probably very helpful with rodents in the area. I got some cat food especially for them, and they were quick to have a bite. This made my holiday, as it would for all animal lovers. The kitties are shy of the cleaners and quickly disappear upon their arrival. They also do not make a nuisance of themselves. Under Milkwood Chalets is truly a wonderful place to stay.

Beautifully equipped chalet with breathtaking views right on the edge of the Knysna Lagoon. Staff extremely friendly. We requested to extend our stay with 2 extra nights and it was fine with little effort

Most wonderful location. Beautiful log cabins sympathetically build amonst the Milkwood forest. A few steps down to the lagoon one can swim, canoe or just lounge. Staff are fantastic !!

Stunning place with a serene undertone and a phenomenal view of the lagoon where the ocean meets. The staff are amazing and so friendly and helpful. The wooden chalets are well kitted and even sport high quality Le crueset cooking utensils and crockery and the beds sleep amazingly good. Wooden decks and a braai that is fully stocked makes the stay very comfortable. A perfect place for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Photos really don’t live up to expectations at all. Very small space inside, quite musty and felt dated. In good weather would be OK given the patio and backing straight onto a beach, but beach itself very small and shared with all the other cabins so zero privacy. Imagine good for those with kids but would not recommend for adults without families.

Unbelievably lovely! They have an incredible little private beach. Book this! You won’t regret it. A friend of a friend told us about this place and we had to message her immediately to thank her!

We had the most wonderful time at Under Milkwood. We stayed in the Paquita unit, which was breathtakingly beautiful, luxurious, super-spacious and excellently kitted out . Large decks upstairs and downstairs meant great views and just a few steps to the crystal-clear lagoon. Because of the location being protected from the wind, we made a lot of use of their free-to-use kayaks and stand-up-paddleboards, which was a great way to start the morning! It was such a pleasure dealing with Nicci before and during our stay. Through her efforts, she ensured that we had a stunning holiday, and was totally committed to ensuring a wonderful stay for us. I can’t recommend Paquita highly enough and can’t wait to return!

We had such a wonderful stay at these gorgeous chalets. The staff were so helpful and the chalets - albeit rustic - have everything you need. The privately accessed lagoon is also such a huge surprise bonus. Highly recommend.

Great proximity to the lagoon. Like that you can make use of their kayaks and SUPs if you’re staying in one of their chalets. Love the wooden cabin style chalets

We stayed in one of the "Middle Chalets", but we could see the beach between the two chalets opposite ours, when we opened the front door :) Lovely place equipped with everything you need (Le Creuset everything) to make your stay comfortable - even with ladies cleaning the house when you quickly step out for breakfast. Perfectly located to escape the city hustle and take in the fresh air that "the heads" has to over.Lovely spacious rooms with two bathrooms and ample cupboard space. Microwave & stove should you not make use of the outside braai. Unfortunately the braai is next to the chalet and the outside seating area is in front of the chalet, but I'm sure one can make it work. Parking is close to / next to the chalet, but rather tight if they are fully booked. Best to let them know if you'll be traveling with a trailer.Thank you for special touches - the heater that was on in the living room, as we arrived quite late and it was raining. The welcome card, addressed to us, providing us with the wifi code and restaurant guide etc.

"Under Milkwood chalets" have several wooden chalets right by the shore line of the east Knysna head; but this review refers to a much bigger house they have a bit further up the hill. This place is amazing! It can host up to eight people in 4 double bed bedrooms; one of which with a separate entrance. 3 full bathrooms (that include a toilet) + additional toilet. It has a fully equipped kitchen, including both induction hobs and a gas stovetop for the load shedding periods. It has all the electrical appliances one has at home + many EU 2 pins electrical sockets so you don't necessarily require an adapter to south African sockets to charge your phones. It has a small yard with beautiful plants; a fairly big balcony with a view of leisure isle and a big parking space (yet tricky to get out of with a big van). The service is great and the place is kept clean and stocked with anything but food. It was really hard to leave...

Excellent place to stay. Set right on the beach, huge apartment with fully finished interiors and a fully loaded kitchenette. We were there for our honeymoon. They gave us a complimentary wine and some chocolates which made our day really special. Also have braai and bonfire, Would never have a dull moment here!

It is a very nice place to stay with friendly and helpfull staff. The chalet is private between the Knysna plantgrowth with birds and butterflies. It is near the lagoon. The only problem is a steep hill to climb. It is a beautiful area.

Very good location near the laguna and the Heads view point. Very equipped kitchen. There was some problem with the shower. No cold water due to a broken handle, only very hot water was available.

We stayed in Under Milkwood for two nights and it was an amazing experience. We are a family of six and the cabin on the shoreline was fantastic. Everything fully equiped Highly recommended:)) Beautiful!

Only quarrel is the HOT WATER. One person showers and the hot water is already finished. They got someone to look at it....no change. Gave an excuse that the municipality switches off all the appliances in the area that they deem use excessive electricity - geyser being one of them - for 4 HOURS a day!! And they can't do anything about it.
