Simply amazing ! My first time in SA - the friendly staff at Candlewood made me feel at home straight away. The rooms are nicely designed and well equipped and very neat and clean. The guesthouse is located on a small hill with a wonderful view over Knysna and the facilities including a pool and a piano are just perfect to spend your day there. The friendly crew will help you with any questions you need to know about your surroundings or exploring the country! After traveling through SA - I was very happy to be back in Candlewood - simply: what you see is what you get and more. Thank you for a fantastic time.

We had a perfect stay at this beautiful place. It starts with its perfect location overhead Knysna, overlooking the lagoon and at the same time close to everything. Very nice, spacious and clean room. And then of course there is Matthias our host. He welcomed us personally took his time explaining everything and arranging things to do/eat/go. Very nice and helpful. To top it all off he and his very nice staff serve the best breakfast we had in SA. Very thoughtful and with a lot of love for details! Candlewood is a absolut recommendation!!

Wonderful location with very nice garden and great views from the room. Our room had everything we needed. Great new shower. World-class breakfast in terms of choice and quality (it cannot get any better anywhere!).

The best experience on the Garden Route! A beautiful gem of a hotel in the nature with stunning views and even better people who run the place. The two nights we stayed there felt like being with family and we had the best of times. And the breakfast is fantastic. A must do and will be back soon!

Stayed here for a holiday and was absolutely delighted by the service, location, and space! Quaint and well thought out, we felt very lucky to stay there and would 100% stay here again if we travel through Knysna. The breakfast was fantastic with lots of tasty options and the staff were beyond helpful and friendly. Special shout out to Matthias who was so helpful in giving us suggestions of what to do in the area and places to eat - we needed so much more time to do everything that was available! Candlewood is an absolute gem of a place, couldn't recommend more highly!

This was an absolutely amazing experience. The manager and his left hand, the owner and the rest of the staff made us feel at home here. Thanks to them it turned out to be a such a personal and welcoming experience. The lodge is beautifully and idyllically located with lovely rooms and a beautiful pool area. The breakfast was outstanding. A definite must on the Garden Route.

I don‘t know where to start… From the very warm welcome, throughover the stay till the goodbye, it was just amazing. Unfortunately we couldn‘t stay longer than one night. If we had the time, we would have stayed longer. Much impressive were the detail oriented things in the house. (if you go, you will recognize) It has really eveything you need. THANKS Matthias and keep your passion! Danke vielmal!

Staff were amazing , so helpful and attentive. Breakfast was excellent and rooms top class. Definitely recommend if you visiting Knysna.

A true gem. The team are so friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The hotel is immaculate and so peaceful with a lovely view of Knysna. The breakfast is like nothing we've seen at a hotel before, a veritable tasting menu of treats served in a tranquil courtyard. We will be back next time we visit the area for sure.

- 0 review / 5 The Lodge is really bad, probably the worst accommodation i have ever been. My room had no toilette! There was also no toilette on my floor! The room was extremely small, bed was narrow and mattress and pillow uncomfortable. Furniture are old, paint, smell, drainage of the shower, all in bad conditions. Other rooms had toilet with huge mold smell. Stairs are for mountain climbers. There was not a single positive point. The "manager" was unpolite to all our complains, arrogant attitude and ignoring any possibility to refund our money after we claimed it

When myself and my wife got to candlewood lodge. We were overwhelmed by the heart warming welcome... The feeling of walking into a room accomodating to your taste. The warm scented cloth to refresh your hands and face. The experience was so overwhelming. We woke up to the sounds of birds and a view that was so breathtaking. We left the sun room and made our way to the breakfast venue. We couldn't believe thee amount of effort put into catering for just us two. From the slow brewed coffee at your table and refreshing orange and fennel dishes and ending with the breakfast desert. It was out of this world. I highly recommend candlewood lodge

Candlewood is, by far, the most amazing Guest House experience we've ever had. My wife and I have been to Candlewood 3 times over the past 5 years, and everything is just perfect every time. A Candlewood breakfast is an exquisite affair. A feast for the eyes, the tastebuds and the soul. Oh, my word! 5 stars all the way. Thank you, Matthias, you and your amazing team have done it again. And yes, we'll be back!

What a great chef!!! Outstanding food, the best staff ever. My husband was in a wheelchair and they could accommodate him!! We had a marvelous time here.

This was an all round amazing experience with Matthias and at Candlewood Lodge. Matthias provided advice on the phone months before our stay (which proved invaluable), then the stay itself was really wonderful. The room was lovely with a very big bathroom and a gorgeous view. There are no words for breakfast!! To provide an idea, Matthias provided homemade (warm!) dairy, soya and gluten free granola especially for me every day due to my dietary requirements; and it was absolutely delicious!! The coffee was also outstanding and the general spread is worthy of any incredible restaurant. During our stay Matthias provided daily advice about things to do and places to see - also providing a beach bag and towels for our trip to the beach. Really we can’t summarise how kind and helpful Matthias was - it made our stay so memorable and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if in Kynsna. Special mention also to the other staff, whose names we unfortunately didn’t get, because they were all so caring and warm. We love Candlewood, thank you!!
