Not even sure how this is a 3 star hotel. The room wasn't very clean. Bed was terrible...I felt the springs. The showers are all in a tub. Stayed on the 2nd floor, no lift, no porter. We carried our luggage up so many uneven steps. The only decent thing was the breakfast. I wouldn't recommend the hotel for more than 1 night should no other accommodation be available. And no backup power during loadshedding.

The place is neat and tidy. The manager is the best! Made our stay so much better. It is located in an okay spot just off the main road. The rooms and bathrooms do need a bit of work here and there but overall it is worth it for the price.

Hotel is a disgrace. Room was dirty and customer service from the from desk was non-existant. It took almost half an hour to get into the premises as there was no one at reception to start with. Bathroom had an old worn out bath mat on the floor. Hotel is 3 stories high and has no elevator. Take heed, this place is a rip off rather stay away.

No stars, terrible experience I didn't stay here and thankfully a blessing in disguise. they couldn't confirm my booking or payment because of loadshedding and refused to refund me even if the loadshedding "were to be over" . I couldn't just sit in my car for 2.5 hours waiting for them. female alone at 7 in the evening driving through to PE because I had nowhere to go. Arrived @12

I won't even lie...it's a very neat n clean hotel... Myself my husband n kids loved the room it was clean... Only problem I had was the stuff is not friendly at all... The receptionist never smiled she just helped us n finish no smile or friendliness at all. The evening I phned reception for a bath plug the guy that answered Said there wasn't a bath plug... I asked him to please get me one because I can't shower a 1 year old baby. He said ders nothing he can do... So eventually the lady receptionist brought one and said dey don't put the bath plugs in because of water restrictions but she understands I have a baby I appreciated that... But stil no smile nothing not even a fake smile... But ohhhhhh my as for the the lady that serves breakfast she was so moody she brought our cutlery without even saying good morning or hi...she was extremely Extremely moody.... But like I'm saying very moody people working at this place but a lovely hotel....

The price is affordable, the service is good. We slept for one night only, we had a good breakfast, but the rooms need to be fumigated. It was not mosquitos, but I woke up with bite marks.

My sister and I stayed there for a week and I have to say that we were unimpressed and that's putting it mildly. The room wasn't very clean on arrival and for the entire duration. You can tell that someone actually came in and attempted to clean but they really don't a thorough job. The base cover had what looked like someone spilled a drink on it. The dust particles all over the room were also off putting, the dishes provided in the room are not thoroughly cleaned. There was a day where we didn't even have toilet paper in the room, and bathroom bin wasn't cleared. For a 3 star, the hotel is definitely not up to scratch. Breakfast was subpar, no thought or creativity went into it whatsoever. There is no lift, so having use the stairs on a daily basis was a nightmare, especially when carrying luggage or after a long day. It's not very child friendly and definitely not a place an elderly person can go to.

Mercy immediately made you feel at home. The breakfast was well prepared and presented.

Very unprofessional receptionist by the name of Mercy, nonchalant about our plea / request, moreover she had a smack on her face, when we plead about separating us and our children , placing our Children downstairs far from us and placing us(Parents) upstairs. What we pleaded / request was our Room & kids to be close to each other...that's all(even denied to have Manager(whom her name appears to be BUSI) contact details...she just said, no available and she is not not going to share the contacts with us) She had no customer Oritation/ service, was actually laughing, and quickly said NO REFUND FOR CANCELLATION. We told her, nobody said anything about cancelation. We just wanted a positive solution for our stay(02 - 05 Jan 2023). We are disappointed further with: Loadshedding (no backup generator / not solar system) Rooms Service(only bed make-up, no carpet Vaccum whatsoever...rooms need neat) No DTSV (only OPEN VIEW, in which their Russell Hotel website is misleading that they have DSTV) WIFI (forever slow / unavailable) Breakfast Menu (during our stay, it's either certain supply: Sausages / Onions / etc...no available) In closing...we'll truly appreciate they treat all the GUESTS equally, irrespective of the "RACE / ETHINIC GROUPS... we all pay to be served "EQUALLY"and" with DIGNITY". I hope this will help you all in the bitterness of RUSSELL HOTEL 🏨.

Excellent accommodation, the breakfast was out of this world. Most amazing service and staff. I had to move my booking a few times and without hesitation the staff assisted me. Thank you for understanding and well done on such a fine hotel. I will most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Knysna. Once again thank you RUSSEL HOTELπŸ‘πŸ‘

I travelled to the Russel Hotel with a convoy of more than 30 boys and coaches to attend the Knysna rowing Regatta. The Russel normally does not cater for school groups, for a hotel that has limited experience they did an exceptional job. The rooms were clean and tidy, they accommodated our needs with ease and were wonderfully flexible and they provided exception value. Thank you so much to the staff at the Russel Hotel.

We definitely had a lovely quiet evening, although it was just a night,we felt the tranquility of being with the Russels'.The young lady, light in complexion is a gentle giant who made us feel at home from the moment we stepped in to the hotel. Very professional and her never ending gorgeous smile which was infectious.I give the Russell Hotel 10/10 and a 5*treatment. We'll definitely visit the Russell Hotel again and again and again.Kee up the excellent job girls!!!

This place was ok for a stop off for one night in Knysna, but sadly, I would Not regard this is as a Hotel, just because it's capacity of rooms surpasses a guest house or lodge criteria, does not make it a Hotel, nor a 3 star one either. The hostess had flip-flops which dragged over the floor - very unprofessional attire. The breakfast had very little taste, from the eggs to the bacon and tomato, we could hardly taste any flavors aside from the other, except for the small dollop of canned KOO beans, they had a tast atleast. The flip-flops being an annoyance again thoughout breakfast, especially it being in morning. The hostess was friendly atmost. The room was ok, bed was very uncomfortable, people and their kids were constantly running up and down the hallway and steps, because of the type of floors, it created an Ecohed which was very loud and resulted in an uneasy nigh's sleep an made us feel not happy especially if we drove over 8 hour from our original destination and this being a pit stop, was not the best place for resting. The building looked like an old block of flats that has been converted into an accommodation place, again not a Hotel. The TV didn't work, not that we used it. The bathroom was small, it was a shower in a bathtub. It's ok as a to stop over for resting the night, if you can over the noise, but the price does not suffice the accommodation and breakfast experience of that of a supposed "3-Stared Hotel ". Overall Description: Pedestrian

The Russel offers beautiful rooms, and it is ideal for people traveling with children. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to make your stay a comfortable one. They provide free breakfast in the morning. Also very well positioned just 3km from the Waterfront.

The hotel is good, but best for an over night stop over or 1 or 2 days in knysna. Breakfast wasnt good, kinda bland and lacked variety. Rooms and bathrooms were clean. Just had to walk up a couple of stairs to get to my room with my families lugage

Good value for money. Close to Central Knysna. Breakfast is included. Efficient and helpful staff. Unfortunately there is no lifts. We had to carry luggage to the 3rd floor
