A beautiful, elegant restaurant facing the Indian Ocean, right on the beach. One feels like dressing up to dine in such a place. Do call for a reservation in advance as the place is popular and packed. The food is superb. Caters to everyone.. seafood lovers, meat eaters and even vegetarians and vegans. What surprised us, pleasantly was the modest pricing of dishes and even then, their generous servings.

Lovely ambience and wonderful service. Food portions are great and the food is really good. I would recommend you try their signature cocktail the Butterfly Haven it is amazingggg.

Such a beautiful setting and lovely food. Being vegetarian, I tried the tofu Katsu curry! Oh my God! What a delicious blend of flavours. I thought it would be more Thai, but tasted more mild Indian. Was perfect! The poppers had a big bite but still delicious. Lovely staff as well and Teenage, our waiter, was an absolute enthusiastic human. Wonderful experience indeed and a must for all who visit Knysna / garden route.

Such a beautiful view over the sea. The Long Island cocktail had a bit too much tequila, throwing the balance off a bit. However, the service was good and all the staff were super friendly.

To use one word to describe this is wow! You have to sit by the windows to get the full experience. This was the highlight for me. I ordered some cocktails and I enjoyed them and they don't skimp on the alcohol. I ordered mussels for dinner and they were delicious. Definitely worth coming here. Come for the sunsets and the food. It can get busy, so worthwhile to call ahead and book a table

Great food with a good view (if you sit outside, in winter don't forget your jacket!). Can recommend to go there around sunset time and enjoy a nice dinner with a good view 🙂

Staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating with my elderly grandmother. Great food, great service! We ordered the surf and turf, seafood linguine and the soup - all delicious. Martin, our waiter, was lovely!

Beautiful spot to eat and enjoy the sunset. Really friendly and helpful staff. When I misread ingredients for my dish or rather didn't know the south African term, the hostess ordered the dish for me again totally new, insisting she'd rather I enjoyed the meal. So accommodating and genuinely nice! High quality of food an presentation, absolutely recommended!

I enjoyed my meal. It was a really nice piece of hake with Chips. I believe it was a new menu as the menu on the website was not the same as we received. It got a bit cold later on in the evening but was not ruined because there were fires going which made it very cosy. The view is breathtaking, while you gaze over the see you can have a glass of whine, or watch the sunset from this elevated position.

The restaurant has phenomenal views of the ocean, incredible location ,the service we received was absolutely 5 star, will definitely come back again

Lovely in all respects. Stunning views, especially at sunset. Service is on point, fast and friendly. The food is fantastic, so delish. Went as a solo traveller but there were many families with children. Did I say the food was awesome? Delightful evening outing,

We really had a fantastic time at Butterfly Blu while on honeymoon in Knysna. The view was amazing and the cocktails were perfect! We also had pizza which was delicious. We will be back!

Sublime atmosphere and fine dining. Prestine view of Brenton on Sea beach with lively, bubbly atmosphere. I would strongly recommend as part of a Knysna visitor's itinerary.

Beautiful view over the ocean. There was a large variety on the menu to eat including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Their small pizzas are not small at all. We sat and enjoyed the pizzas and gin while watching the view. My only concern was that the gluten-free cake was served with a gluten wafer and bar one chocolate sauce. Besides for that was an really excellent afternoon.

Beautiful. Well thought out modern space. The food is good to excellent. They pride themselves on their pizza. I think the staff should be doing more to sell the pizza story. One of our group ordered a vegan pizza. I'm not vegan inclined but I must say it was the best meal of the group. That included a rib eye (terrific), kingklip (really good) and a salad (yes please). Butterfly Blue is for everyone!

Overall it was a good experience. The food was decent and prices quite pricey as they cater more for the holiday makers as they are part of a big hotel 🏨🛏️ Nothing wrong with the experience and beautiful views of the sea and beach ⛱️🏖️ The decor was nice too. We had a frozen virgin strawberry 🍓 daiquiri and a draft beer 🍻🍺 For food we had the seafood 🦞 curry 🍛 and the Thai beef 🍖 curry 🍛.

Thoroughly enjoyed Butterfly Blu. It was raining and cold when we were there - the fire was going and we were given some cosy blankets. A beautiful restaurant and the food was delicious. Hubby had their stew of the day - I think it was osso buco. The pizzas were great. Stunning sea views. Service was excellent - the staff go out of their way to make sure you have a fantastic time. Look out for their dinner specials. Will definitely come back here again.

Amazing place facing the Indian Ocean with lots of food options to choose from. From ambiance to staff, everything here’s just perfect. Highly recommended when you’re in Knysna and looking for some delicious food. They do have Indian options also.

First time visit. Such professional and friendly service. Food is amazing and my husband said best fish he ever ate. Views spectacular. Can't wait to go back tomorrow again.

Beautiful setting in Brenton on Sea with lovely views over the ocean during the day and a warm and cosy feeling in the evening. Friendly staff provided a wonderful dining experience with a warm welcome at the door. The food is delicious. Will recommend and will definitely be making another visit soon.

Excellent restaurant and hotel. This restaurant has a fantastic view and efficient service. Take-away is possible, pick up only. There is also a small cocktail bar. Reservations is essential during November and December.
