The central feature of this Temple is the elaborate "Snake Stone Pagoda" I say elaborate because the exterior is covered with carved figures whilst the interior walls are decorated with buddhist relief sculptures. Apart from the striking Pagoda, it is worth exploring the site, there are several other buildings and a number of shrines here. Continue on down the steps to the seafront where there is a tiny little one room house on a raised platform and table/chairs by the sea.

A beautifully simply laid out temple. The main temple is beautifully laid out in terracotta red. Houses the relics of Buddha brought in from Sri Lanka in the 50s . Rama 9 was present during the ceremony.

Wat Sila Ngu ( or snake stone temple) is along the island’s main ring road in the Lamai area, fronting a very nice rocky beach. The monks with their kuti fronting the beach must wake up to a very beautiful scene indeed. The Red Ubosot (ordination hall) reminds me of Chiang Rai’s Wat Rong Khun, with the stylised flames reminiscent of Ajahn Chalermchai’s artwork with Wat Rong Khun’s architecture. The interior of the Ubosot has scenes from the Ramakien - where Rama and Hanuman battles Totsakan, and just above the doorway is a scene of the Buddha’s enlightenment. To the left of the Ubosot is a shrine to the famous late Luang Phor Phum, who was a well known “Geji Ajahn” of Koh Samui and his amulets are famous. There is a breezy Thai Pavilion facing the beach, and of course; the temple dogs know best and there are a few of them snoozing in the afternoon breeze. Down the steps from the Ubosot (with the name sake plaster snakes on the sides of the steps is a Chedi (Pagoda). The temple is well worth a stopover.

Very impressive. Wat Sila Ngu has a chedi containing the Buddha's relics in a golden chedi facing the temple. The temple located on side the major road. Worth my time stopping by paying respect to the Buddha's relics.

A beautiful Buddhist temple by the sea. Built-up with terracotta walls. Easily recognised. Well maintained. Sacred. Tranquil. Picturesque. If you are looking for Instagram able tourist spot, this is for you.

Absolutely beautiful temple by the sea. Free entry and parking, accessible by the main road. And if you need to charge your phone there are 4 plugs inside 😆

We rode past here a few times and finally stopped. In fact we stopped, spend 20 minutes here, came back a few days later with friends and visited for another 20 minutes. Dress respectfully, and enjoy this peaceful temple. There are some tombstones on the beach side which have string tying/connecting the tops of the tombs together. Couldn't figure out why.

Striking!! Especially the red temple with the single Buddha. There is also a lookout pavillion for a great selfie / portrait .. and a golden Chedi or known as The snake stone pagoda .. a few graves also dot the terraces further down. This temple is in the middle of everything.. and traffic in and out of the temple can be severe as it connects directly onto a main road. Still a great place to visit and have a look-see.

This is a lovely spot that was randomly happened upon while driving around the island. Perfect location, you can visit the temple, see the sights and then a short moment away down some beautifully presented steps is a tiny little beach that was entirely empty and perfect. Definitely worth stopping over for half an hour or so if you’re passing by.

The temple is located between the main street and the beach facing the sea and appears peaceful and calm, and with various buildings in the area. It is certainly worth a visit and is located in a fairly compact area, so you don't spend a lot of time walking around the area. It was nice to have a walk down to the beach which is easily accessible via a wide staircase, which is a nice place for a break with or without food and drink. Parking can be done outside the entrance, or inside the temple area.

Beautiful ornate red temple in K Samui facing the ocean. Usually don’t see this kind of architecture in Samui. The level of design is beautiful. The gold Buddha is sculpted gorgeously. Must visit!

Nice little temple that was close to our hotel so we actually visited multiple times. Nothing much to see but the decorations are beautiful and quite photogenic.

Very pretty temple lots of little designs on buildings and walls. It is also located next to some great restaurants and a beach. The little ponds near the water also had lots of cool animals in.

Worth a quick stop. The temple has a distinctive clay red colour. The steps lead to a rocky beach. Be careful pulling in as the gates are at a busy motorway

Beautiful quiet temple with a great view. It's a very quiet place but worth a visit to rest, pray and enjoy the tranquility. There's a beautiful viewpoint next to the parking lot, and there's a way down to the small beach where you can climb on the rocks.
