This hotel is way too expensive for what they offer, I wouldn’t recommend it. Very old and run down, we were very disappointed because the pictures on Agoda do not reflect the current state. Our suite looked beautiful on photos but when we arrived the whole experience was very disappointing. The bedsheets of our bed were stained, the whole room overall is rundown, quite smelly and the pool is not well maintained.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! there are so many beautiful options on this island and on Chaweng beach. This hotel is old. Beds are terrible. The service is almost non-existent. The “Happy hour” is a joke... sugary syrup cocktails at triple the price compared to what you can find a fresh fruit one in the street or in a more boutique bungalow resort in Chaweng. They tried to put us in a room inferior to what we’d booked and acted very rudely when we corrected them and tried to fix the situation. We actually accepted a no refund and went to another hotel for our last night on Samui because we couldn’t stay in that place!

We had a lovely holiday in Koh Samui. Enjoyed stay at Chaba Samui. Were here last year and this year we were welcomed by the same friendly staff that we remember from last year. The hotel is close to the night market, many restaurants, shopping centres. We stayed at lake side of hotel and had no problem to walk across the street to the beach and for breakfast. The lake side had a lovely pool on the 3rd floor. The rooms are spacious . We will visit again next year.

I wish I could give ZERO STARS, because one star is too many! Worst hotel in Koh Samui, the staff barely speak English, and the rooms are disgusting. No noise cancellation, the sheets are as dry as sandpaper, and the pillows feel like rocks. The staff have no interest to help- we had an emergency and needed to leave early- not only did they refuse to refund but they flat out didn’t care. On top of all this, they refused to call us a taxi in the morning and they claimed that they were “closed”. We nearly missed our flight. And most importantly- THERE IS NO WIFI! THE WIFI DOES NOT WORK! Stay away from here! Better stay anywhere else on the island but here.

From outside it doesnt looks impressive. The room was very good and clean. The hotel has 2 buildings, one closer to the beach and the one at the other side of the road. You will pay more for the beach side. The diffrent is 20 seconds of walking.

Gosh, where to start with this review.. I booked this place on the strength of the location and some good feedback on the likes of Tripadvisor. The photos on the site looked decent enough but turns out they were taken 30 years ago when this place opened. Anyway, I booked this place for 4 nights but upon arrival they couldn’t find our booking. After looking into this, it turns out I had made an error and booked it for the following month! This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it was fully refundable. I didn’t get a great vibe of Chaba from the get go, so just suggested that I rebook 2 nights for now. I asked if I should book via Agoda as per the previous booking or if it would be cheaper to book directly through them. They immediately said it would be better to book through them and so I asked for a price. After conferring amongst themselves in Thai, they gave me a price that was 50% more expensive than if I booked through Agoda direct! This infuriated me and I asked them to give me a real price and not to try extorting money and they came back with a new price that was still 25% higher. I should have just left at this point but we were hot & flustered and just wanted somewhere to dump our belongings and head out. After a heated discussion they agreed to charge me the same rate as Agoda and let me take a look at the room. I was shocked that this was the same place as the photos online, it was just so tired and dated! The pool area was even worse, gave off the air of a trailer park and the other guests present only strengthened this disturbing image. Hotel has free WiFi but good luck using it for anything other than text. Too weak to download images of any description and I was unable to call my wife when she was in sitting in our room. I actually felt ashamed that I would let my wife stay here and told myself I would immediately find somewhere better for us. After looking at a few potential alternatives online, I set off and had a tour around some hotels. The 3rd one I looked at, I hit jackpot. For the same money we were paying at Chaba, we could get a duplex room at Kirikayan Boutique Resort. Everything about that place was incredible, just meant an extra 10min walk each way when heading out to the main area of Chaweng. The only positive spin that I can put on Chaba is that the food at the pool bar was actually pretty tasty and fairly reasonably priced. If I can give just one piece of advice for Chaweng, it would be to avoid this place like the plague. You’re far better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

Spacious and clean room with balcony. The beachfront bar is quite nice to enjoy the day. The lift was not working though.

Chaba Resort is an amazing stay. With beautifully built rooms, quiet property and a beach front you can't go wrong with this one.

Great stay close to all the main attractions yet far away to not be bothered by noice. Room was ok but a bit on the small side. The Beach is fantastic with very shallow and turquoise water.

Room fiout is ok quite modern and hotel close to centre and on the beach. But repainting is happening, so online bookings get the worst rooms for paint smell, unfortunately. Did I complain? No they know very well and I can't spare the time. Room smells strange, probably the bedding. Breakfast is the minimum that can be provided. Overall, it is good for a day or two if there are no renovations.

Spacious rooms, nice place. Located in the main street where all restaurants and bars are situated. Walking distance from basically everything you need. My main complaint is just the price — we thought we had a good deal because it was cheaper than average, however, we later found out better places with similar prices. However, staff were very polite and helpful! Nice stay overall!

The resort and rooms have potential. The room unfortunately had a musty smell in it we couldn’t get rid of. Over the days it got worse but the room was nice and so was the staff. The breakfast was not included with our room and we had to pay 550 baht per person for the buffet and that is just insanely high. The beers and meals were also fairly high in my opinion. The stay was good other wise and the little beach space is nice, you don’t have to pay to access the chairs so that’s a plus.

Its and older hotel, but the rooms have recently been redone and are super clean. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful and breakfast was great. This hotel is on the perfect location as its in the middle of the best street and beach front on the island. The only down side is the beds are highly uncomfortable and the bar next to the hotel makes a huge noise till the early hours of the morning, it kept us up every night.

Great hotel stayed here for many years Thus time we were on floo4 and the lift is not working and staff don't seem to know when or if it will be working The hotel was sold this week to a Bangkok family so it will be interesting to see what happens to the place.

The hotel definitely does not look like the photos. The outside is extremely old and run down. The rooms were the only decent thing! We were not aware that the lake room is in a completely different building to the hotel with beach access. Once checked in, we decided to upgrade to the ocean room (and had to haggle the price with reception!!) She overcharged us.. so make sure to book the ocean room to start with. On our first night, just as we were getting into bed, we noticed that our bed sheets were dirty and had hair in them - we called reception and they sent someone up to change the sheets. On our first few days, staff were really rude. They’d refuse to say hi or even smile! We submit a complaint through Agoda and were left with a note in our room to attend reception. Upon doing so, the receptionist started yelling at us for complaining to Agoda. We had never felt so uncomfortable especially being in a foreign country. I’m not sure if I’d recommend this hotel to anyone. We initially had very low expectations but did not expect anything like this. I will say that the hotel is in a great location though and the included buffet breakfasts were decent. Oh also.. when checking in, they require a 2000 Baht bond to be paid upfront. They wouldn’t allow me to charge this to my credit card and I didn’t have enough Baht on me (as I wasn’t expecting to pay that bond), so they told me $100 AUD would suffice. Upon checking out, the ladies “forgot” to give me back my bond. They put all the check out documents into a sealed envelope.. it was only when I was walking out of the hotel to our taxi that I realised they had not put my $100 into the envelope before sealing it. When I went back in and demanded my bond, the ladies told me that they had forgotten to give it to me. Don’t let them rip you off!

Staff extremely lovely. They went out of their way to welcome us. They surprised us with a birthday cake, Weera is a character, the egg lady who cooks breakfast has a smile that beams, Mr Whistle was the best to stop traffic for us, the guy who remember my tea order at breakfast every day, the bar staff were great and the massage women deserve a medal and more pay. We had a great time.

👍👍 This place really took us by surprise. Walking past along the beach at night, it seemed a bit touristy, however it had just the right balance. Fire shows at night on the beach with no pressure to tip or pay to watch, but I suppose could be classed as touristy? But nonetheless still enjoyable. Servic...
