MAKE SURE YOU READ MY REVIEW IF YOU ARE EXPECTING 5 STARS: NOTE TO MARRIOT & W HOTELS. I will remove this review if you can assure me you are taking steps to swiftly solve the MAJOR problems at hand at the property. #1. Beach area is not properly maintained. There are cigarette butts and trash. Also, beach area is not tidy and simply looks disheveled and uncared for. There are no recliner chairs and service is non existent. I mean it is bad. The bean bag recliners and mattresses that they use throughout the property look unkempt, almost like an afterthought. This is absolutely unacceptable especially based on the pricing, the reputation of the W brand, and not to mention the stiff competition on Koh Samui. #2 Condition of the property: The general ‘hip’ aesthetic is not aging well and that is clear here. Read the Wikipedia entry for W Hotels and you will see that it is known that they are struggling with this and that is clear here. Example: how is Rich Uncle Pennybags, the mascot of the Monopoly board game, on display throughout the resort? I mean I’m all for abstract art and love Andy Warhol, but this seems immature and in poor taste. The beach access pool villa we stayed in was beautiful, however, it needs better outdoor ambient lighting at night time. Also, as I noted to Ian, it did not have the recliner chairs for use in the garden area. The interior was admittedly beautiful, but it is the outdoor area that was just looking depressing. Also, keep in mind that you are on what should arguably be one of the most amazing beaches in Thailand, yet you can’t see it from any of the beach access or tropical villa rooms which are currently at about $13,500 THAI Baht per night mind you. #3 Service. Service was average overall. Some people do appear to know and understand what is going on. There are people who care (Big, Ian, & their executive chef Manuch (Sp?); but unfortunately it’s not enough to save this disaster at the moment. Also, it appears they may be lacking support from corporate. As noted by another reviewer 4 months ago, the server at the beach was literally using his phone while interacting with me. How in any way is that respectful to your customer? We simply left the beach area to venture to the main pool. #4 Main Pool. There are a total of (6) recliners and 2 daybeds, all of which were unkempt. The area looks sort of sun damaged and unwelcoming. You get a rolled green towel and a warm water bottle. There is no service here as far as food or beverage. So why on your hard earned vacation would you even want to go there? #5 Dining: Numa and The Kitchen Table. Sure they’re pretty good. But this is no fine dining environment and I know what I’m talking about. The THAI Baht $2900 (US82) whole lobster Udon, for example, was not photo ready. Just image search it on Google. Plus it’s Canadian Lobster. I mean common give us Phuket Lobster this is Thailand. It did not have the characteristics of a high end presentation. However, I will award the F&B outlets 4-stars (But even that is being generous!) The true effort was there, but there is a lot lacking. Breakfast at The Kitchen Table: This was the best effort I witnessed at the property. IN CONCLUSION: I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you absolutely AVOID this property until these issues are resolved. Go somewhere else with a beach chair for example and NO TRASH on the beach! Oh man. IF THIS REVIEW IS STILL HERE, IT MEANS THAT MARRIOT & W HOTELS HAS NOT CONFIDENTLY ASSURED ME THAT THESE ISSUES ARE NOTED OR BEING ADDRESSED. Just look for the peeking paint when you arrive at the valet and from there you will start to see how it all unravels. The reception desk does not even have a working printer for god sakes! Just about everything is dingy, overlooked and unkempt, except for their pricing! Cancel your booking and save yourself this nightmare and money!

Just WOW! From the views, the service, to the beautifully appointed villas with private pool, I just can’t say enough good things about this place. Throughout my stay the W team has made me feel extremely welcome, and I love the daily happy hour where the staff themselves actually mingle with the guests. The breakfast is a heavenly spread of everything you need to spoil your palate. And don’t even get me started about the fire shows - just phenomenal all around! WOW

Lovely beach but staff are not welcoming at all. We did not stay at the hotel because for most people it’s unaffordable. However, hotels are usually welcoming to guests who want to have dinner or drinks at their restaurant. We found that because we were not staying at the hotel we were simply treated so differently. Staff told us we had to sit in the back even though the whole beach front seating was pretty much empty. Where they told us to sit was so uncomfortable for my parents (elderly) we had to leave, despite telling them many times. They refused and were rude. Can’t believe how badly we were treated! Hope management have a chat or change their silly policy on treating outside guest different. Yes we don’t stay at the hotel but we are PAYING to eat and drink so show some hospitality please to your future guests. Anyways, to those reading this, KOB next door is a much better choice! Staff are amazingly friendly and you get lovely views of the sea.

Title: Unforgettable Stay with Exceptional Service! Review: I recently had the pleasure of staying at W Koh Samui for five nights, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget. As an ambassador at Marriott, I was delighted to receive an upgrade to a stunning room that featured its own swimming pool and breathtaking ocean view. It was a dream come true! What truly set this hotel apart for me was the outstanding service. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. From the efficient buggy and valet services to the friendly faces greeting us at breakfast each morning, everyone made us feel incredibly welcome. The breakfast at W Koh Samui deserves a special mention. The fresh coconuts, perfectly cooked eggs, and juicy mangoes were the best way to start the day. And for someone who likes to keep up with my fitness routine, the gym was a pleasant surprise – well-equipped and never too crowded. A heartfelt shoutout to Nat and the team for the delicious protein shakes that kept me energized throughout the day. And the fire show? Absolutely awesome, adding a unique touch to our stay. The location of the hotel is just perfect, offering serenity with its stunning views, yet it never felt overcrowded. It’s challenging to remember all the names, but each staff member I interacted with deserves praise for their exceptional service. I’m already looking forward to my next visit to W Koh Samui. To the team that made our stay so special: thank you. You’ve truly made this a place I’ll return to without hesitation.

This property does not deserve the W sign, poorly managed and not well maintained. Should have used the lock down period better. Staff seems still in sleeping mode, many things not working. Cleanliness is poor and some spots are scary. Beach was dirty with glasses and plastic all over Service seemed limited and buffets are like 50% only The whole thing is totally over priced for what they offer. At check-in we had to wait 15min until they noticed us. If you go for dinner after 8pm you get the look and a limited menu. Moskito Smoking without pre-information, great if you sit in your garden having food. Service at the beach 🏖 Nope… staff is busy on their phones. 45min and waving until we got finally noticed I cannot recommend this W Was really disappointed and it’s a waste of time and money

Sunday brunch every second Saturday of a month. The food quality was very good with a wide selection. Very tasty. The menu did change a bit every time we visited. The sushi bar prepared assorted fresh sushi on time in small batches. Some of them were even vegan friendly. Fresh and delicious. By far, this was the best brunch in the island. Looking forward to the next. Well done team. Hope the quality would sustain.

We stayed here in early January and loved every moment! We were there for five nights and had an ocean view private villa, with its own pool. The space was impeccable and had an incredible view! Brunch was fantastic and the staff was always so helpful, arranging for transport and seeing to our every need. One person at the front desk even called the next hotel we were going to (another Marriott property) and helped set stuff up for us there! We are going back soon and cannot wait!

The best resort in Koh Samui by far! Rooms are lovely, clean, renovated with a private pool and great view. The staff is amazing and breakfast is absolutely stunning.

Really loved the rooms, beach, amazing breakfast, and above all else, the staff. I can't say enough about the staff. Every department, from the beach to the restaurants to the lobby to the housekeepers were wonderful and went out of their way to be genuinely helpful and kind. Definitely top notch hospitality. 👌 Also, plunge pools were amazing!

Very nice and stylish hotel with a great breakfast! The Villas are very well designed with an outdoor shower + normal shower and the private outdoor pool is perfect for relaxing days. The public pool is very great too and offers a very cool sea view. I got flashed when walking into the „Lobby“. You get such a great view from the beginning. We also played Tennis there and I would recommend not to do it within the nighttime, because the light got us many big insects on the ground. But the rest was perfect organized. The rackets could be a bit more maintained but where okay for a small match.

One of the best vacations I’ve ever had! Absolutely private beach with no people at all (but please ask for shoes to walk by the sea next to the pool, a lot of stones out there), free sport facilities and compliments such as delicious cocktails! Also try Namu next to the beach - it was too good!! Very quiet, very friendly, very peaceful. Just heaven Also huge thanks for the upgrade to tropical villa! It was beautiful

W is located about 30mins away from the airport. The main building is not big, located on a small hill overlooking the ocean. There are hill and beach villas but the one I stayed was a beach villas being walking distance to the beach. Beautiful large modern villa suite with a large indoor pool. The large bathroom has a bath tub with garden pool view, separate shower and toilet rooms, and largely an outdoor shower area! Although the interior may be dated but the place is generally well maintained. The villas are located near to the beaches but is a far uphill walk to the main hotel building. But there’s always a buggy on standby just a call away. There’s also an area near the villa where you can get free ice cream and that’s awesome especially for those with kids ! Awesome hospitality from the friendly staff. Good breakfast spread with ocean view seating both indoor and outdoor.

Wow, what an incredible hotel. The first day Tang told me she would make sure my stay would be amazing and it was so great I ended up staying for almost 2 weeks. The staff are there to support you at your beck and call with any possible request you have. One of the standout staff members during my stay was Ammie. She was always friendly, approachable, and went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed. Ammie truly made my experience at the W Hotel unforgettable. Another staff member who deserves special recognition is Nancy. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and provided excellent recommendations for exploring Koh Samui. Nancy's warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel like a valued guest throughout my stay. The staff at the W Hotel in Koh Samui truly exceeded my expectations. They were attentive, accommodating, and genuinely cared about making my stay as enjoyable as possible. From the moment I arrived until the day I checked out, the exceptional service provided by Tang, Ammie, and Nancy made me feel like a VIP. The hotel itself was stunning, with breathtaking views of the ocean and luxurious amenities. The rooms were spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. The infinity pool overlooking the beach was a highlight, providing the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. The dining options at the hotel were also top-notch. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of delicious options, and the on-site restaurants served exquisite meals that satisfied even the most discerning palate. Overall, my experience at the W Hotel in Koh Samui was nothing short of exceptional. The staff, particularly Tang, Ammie, and Nancy, played a significant role in making my stay unforgettable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious and unforgettable experience in Koh Samui.

WOW!!! Just amazing. We stayed for 2 nights in room 224 from 23rd till 25th of April and our only regret is not staying longer. Our "Welcome" (check in) from Amiee was like no other check in, it was like being welcomed home by an old friend. Everything was clearly explained and a complete tour of the room was given. The room was absolutely amazing, had everything we could have ever needed. Breakfast was fantastic and I liked how the buffet options were less and the cook to order options were more and the view from the breakfast area could not have been better. Perfect sunsets from the beach bar. Will be back for sure

Where do I even begin with my experience at W Koh Samui? It was pure magic! Ammie, the incredible staff member, deserves a standing ovation for her exceptional service. From the moment we stepped foot on the resort, she showered us with warmth and made us feel like royalty. The resort itself is a true gem, nestled in the beauty of Koh Samui with breathtaking views at every turn. The attention to detail in the design and decor is impeccable. The dining options were a culinary delight, and Ammie's recommendations made each meal a memorable experience. Thank you, W Koh Samui, for creating a vacation beyond our wildest dreams!

My husband and I had such an incredible stay at the W. The service was absolutely impeccable; the people that worked there could not have been kinder. We loved our room as well, it had the best view and a super comfortable bed. At first I was unsure about the location since you can’t walk anywhere, but after spending one day in Chaweng beach, I was so grateful to be far away from all of that craziness. We loved were the breakfast buffet, you have to do that if you go, it is truly unparalleled. I ate Tom yum soup every morning with a fresh coconut and it was heaven. The gym was also very nice and helped us burn off some of the buffet calories :) A few places on the island that we loved: Treehouse restaurant (next to the hotel with amazing mojitos), Mr.Eungs Seafood (get the fried fish with green mango salad), and Coco Tams (incredible pizza and fire show). Overall loved this hotel and would stay here again!

Great Hotel with amazing service and team members. Ammie took care of me and in any case she was really supportive and helpful. For any matter she was there to find a solution. Also the other team members recognised me through my name and I felt “home” there and also one of the team members gave me a little gift when I went home. The rooms are clean and big as well as really comfortable. I can highly recommend this hotel.

W Koh Samui left me speechless with its mesmerizing views and extraordinary cocktails. The combination of a perfect sunset and expertly crafted drinks deserves a solid 5 out of 5 rating! The stunning vistas at the resort took my breath away. Watching the sun dip below the horizon was a truly awe-inspiring moment that I had never experienced before. The cocktails served at W Koh Samui were exceptional. Each drink was a masterpiece of flavors, showcasing the talent and creativity of the mixologists. I couldn’t resist trying more of their unique creations. The overall ambiance of the resort was remarkable, complemented by the friendly and attentive staff who made our visit even more special. For an unforgettable experience, I highly recommend visiting W Koh Samui. It’s the perfect place to indulge in delicious cocktails while being captivated by the breathtaking views.

Incredible views, service, swimming pools, and food. Nightly fire shows and a special DJ event every weekend. Come on Sundays to the beach side fire performance. What impressed me most was the awesome breakfast buffet with many made to order booths. Ammie provided a superior guest experience, thank you for making the stay truly wonderful!

Second time staying at this resort! First time was 8 years ago! Loved it now and then! The staff is amazing, so friendly and helpful, excellent service, comfortable villas, lovely beach, good gym! Very good breakfast, which is not outside with the fans, like in most hotels in Thailand but with the AC, so no bugs flying around! Delicious dosas and pastries , big variety of food, fresh coconuts, all the waiters are beyond polite and friendly! We spend very happy 6 days and had 2 villas, would love to come back!!! Great hotel! The only thing that is missing is the kids club( they do have short 2 pm kids activities on the beach , but would be nice to have an indoor kids club. Overall- amazing relaxing stay , we came here after the ritz Carlton, and the W hotel is so much better!!!!!

It was a fantastic place to stay for your romantic occasions or chilling holidays, the room was very fancy and clean(also very new), the service was super super good, all the staff were very nice. Breakfast is also very good with fresh international and local food, their fresh cooked dishes were really good especially their benedict was excellent. The room dining was also really tasty! We ordered three days in a raw! Everything was perfect. Nice pool villa, very private, quiet, not busy! Higley recommend 👌 👏

The stay and everything was good. But when i called at 2 AM for food they denied and they said they have closed the restaurant they close at 11. Being a 7 star hotel i expected they would serve food at night. And the staff also doesn’t understand english properly. Very bad on W. Had more expectations from W

Great experience at W. My first trip to Thailand, visiting from Australia, had some time after a conference in Bangkok. I have never encountered such friendly attentive staff - was treated like family. I was in a one bedroom villa with ocean view. Very spacious, lots of storage, closet space, work desk. Good size TV screen (though couldn't cast from my phone/of). Massive bathroom with indoor and outdoor rainforest showers, free-standing bath-tub. Entire villa has stunning views across the straight to Ko Pha Ngan (Samui's sister island to the north), across the private infinity pool. Short walk to beach where kayaks etc for hire. Breakfast buffet superb with more friendly, relaxed but never intrusive service. Well equipped very clean gym and pool. Hire scooter was easy to organise - delivered to resort. Highly recommended. I'm trying hard to give a balanced review - only minor improvement I can think of is just a little more water pressure for showers would be nice. Staff totally calm and patient even when I got cranky about AUD / BHT exchange rate on check-out. Beautiful resort, can't praise staff enough, special thanks to Mac (shuttle to and from room - great source of local knowledge) and Alex for taking care of me each day in breakfast buffet. Can't wait to visit again. Would be a perfect honeymoon location!

The staff at the W Koh Samui were very welcoming. From the welcome drinks at the sit down check in, to the breakfast buffet, personal touches were showered upon us. A particularly exceptional staff member is Mr. SUPAMONGKON WARANUPAPKUN, the welcome manager. He emailed me before my trip with advice on hotel transfer arrangements and what to do around the island. Throughout our stay he met with us for restaurant recommendations and was just generally interested in what we like and who we are. The rooms are all separate chalets with personal pools. Great air con, mood lighting inside and outside, black out blinds all drawn with turn down service just too many extras to list. Maenam Beach is quiet and clean especially when you compare it to Chaweng. A very high quality property with staff that make it even better, the W Koh Samui is excellent.

warning!!! Stunning hotel though!!! And a big but if you have a mistake in the order/problem, don't expect the hotel to consider you!!!! It's just a beautiful hotel, nothing more!! We made a reservation, got the date wrong and had to cancel one night, did we see the money back? Definately not. With all due respect to the 5 stars they have, they only know how to take money. Sorry but not worth the money. For 20,000 baht per night, you can go get a room in any other hotel that will provide 10 times better service than what we got there. After a month in Thailand, I can say unequivocally that this is the worst hotel I have ever been to. you have been warned.

This is the fourth time I stay at W hotel. All staff were nice. My family celebrated birthday party in Villa 501, we really enjoyed barbecue dinner and also had memorable time. Staff set up lovely decoration, we loved it❤️ Also We'd like to say thank you K'Ammie (What ever, when ever Staff) for surprising birthday cake. Furthermore spa and private beach was perfect. We can enjoy in the hotel all day, no need to go outside. Highly recommend this hotel!

What a beautiful journey I had. W hotels worldwide are known for its luxurious design, but the W resort in Koh Samui is definitely the best one i have stayed at. First of the I have to mention that the staff were super friendly, and I felt so comfortable since I arrived to the hotel. I have stayed for a week, and half of my stayed I spend it in the resort, without feeling bored. So relaxed with plenty if activities and places you can spend your time at. One of the best lobbies I’ve seen. Also I’d like to share a story l had during my stay, when I checked out, and left the city, my wife and I forgot one of her handbags, which we just bought. And luckily we had the chance to contact the resort customer service, and they’ve found it and ship it to us. Even though we left the resort, they have served us in the best way possible. I will never forget my stay here and i’m sure i will do it again.

Good balance of amenity and price. Love their sweet spot where you can get unlimited ice creams. The beach is kinda dirty as the ocean brings trash… overall great hotel and villa

This hotel is poorly maintained. I must say the staff tried to make our stay pleasant but it didn’t not make up for the rundown rooms and facilities which were mostly covered by moss. Very disappointed. I’m making this review after I visited other 5 star resorts in the area for comparison and the W is definitely looking very tired, it has a feel of a hotel that’s been shutdown and just reopened.

6 night stay in villa 133. Amazing experience, including the check-in, buggy service, housekeeping, and service during breakfast, beach time and dinner. Staff is friendly and go above and beyond to ensure all your needs are met. The villa exceeded our expectations with private pool and outdoor shower. Especially enjoyed the food and beverage service as we had all of our meals onsite during our stay. 5 stars all around!
