The beach is surprisingly empty, even on a Saturday afternoon when I went. There are some couples and family members strolling about, but it's very quiet overall. The quality of the sand leaves much to be desired, as detritus, seaweed and other litter scatter along the main stretch of the beach. You can't picnic or bask in the sun there with such a condition, although some parts are cleaner than others. The waves are pretty strong coming in so it's not possible to swim too. That said, some patches are ok. The best thing is to stay at one of the hotel or resort lining the beach and lie there where it will be cleaner to relax.

Lots of trash. Water is supposed to be not safe to swim for 3 weeks already. I read a comment from 2 weeks ago and I agree. The whole Lamai town looks deserted probably the beach situation does not help. They should really clean up the beach. They are loosing tourist in a time where there is no tourists. My camera is not the best... Believe me it looks worse.

It’s an unexplored beach with very few travellers. Mostly locals and expats visit this beach and this is kept very well one of the best beach of koh samui, if you like some calmness and peace. *Crystal clear water *low tides means perfect for water sports *very peacefull *scenic views It could have been better with a few shacks around but the market is nearby and you can grab your booze or food if you wanna spend a long time here!

Nice beach when it’s sunny or else not too special. A little bit of rubbish which is sad to see but you do see the resorts in front clean up. Thankfully in front of our resort and for a good stretch it has been cleaned very well. Nice walk from top to bottom. Went in May but it wasn’t that busy which is a plus and had some tranquil walks with partner.

Avoid!! Trash is everywhere. I was shocked when i saw the condition of the beach, especially after all of the positive reviews here. I cannot believe when people write "the beach is getting cleaned" since I saw trash with algae on it, which means it's been there for a while! From liquor bottles to light bulbs, toothbrushes and anything you can imagine!!!!! The sea is not good for swimming either. Try your luck somewhere else....

I thought Chaweng beach was filthy but nothing could prepare me for the state of this place. Bad to the point that it didn’t even resemble a beach, more trash than sand. With the amount of money generated from tourism how is this allowed to happen? What’s even funnier is that there were people laying amongst it. Probably won’t return to Thailand to be honest the whole place is a right dump since I last visited and prices now are sky high.

I liked the beach. When the sea is calm the water is very clear. Beautiful sunrises. At sunset, the water turns a soft blue and the clouds turn pink. Very beautiful. I highly recommend visiting here at sunrise and sunset. You can also take a coconut and have a drink overlooking the sea. The sea is deep enough to swim, the entrance to the sea is good, where I swam there was only sand, no stones. Closer to the edges of the beach there are places with a rocky bottom. Be careful. No trash on the beach at the moment

It was a nice beach before pandemic(Dec 2019), now it is not. A lot of plastic bottles and other garbage, nobody trying to keep it clean. Really disappointed

Beautiful and clean beach, lots of restaurants, shops, massage studios. Lamai is not so crowded like Chaweng area, but you still get everything you need for a good vacation.

We visited during December, on some days we were unlucky and was windy, other days sunny and calm, overall a good beach, although the sight of some plastic and rubbish on the shore were disappointing, it has a plethora of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, massage stalls, beach vendors, on a good weather day can easily spend a few hours to swim, drink and eat!

Sadly the beach was full of trash when we came here. This might be only for the time when we were here but we were shocked to see it like this. I still give 3 star because i think this might be just bad luck for us and maybe they will clean it in the afternoon. The water gets deep quickly, you will be fine if you are a good swimmer and be carefull but i would not recomment this beach for bad swimmers Update: now 3 days later the beach is still very dirty and did not get cleaned so i change my review to 0 star. This is really terrible. It would not cost much money to clean it. Dont waste your time on this beach, there are a lot of beautiful beaches in other places.

In my opinion its the second most popular beach on the island, stretching for several km. The sections directly in front of the beachfront accomoations sweep and clear rubbish from their own sections which vastly improves it. However the parts in between are strewn with rubbish plastic glass and other rubbish. If you are staying beach side chose your accomodation carefully. Theres several smaller beaches which are spotless in comparison. Visit them. Lipa Noi and Bang Por on the western and northern coastlines are smaller and cleaner.

Beautiful beach, with lovely little bars and beach shops along the shore. Unfortunately, the whole place was full of garbage (plastic bottles, old clothes, etc). A real pity, I would definitely give it 5 starts if it wasn’t for the garbage.

Only experienced the Southern end as it is a very long strip of sand but when I visited (July 2022) it was very chilled and relaxing, which is not the impression I had got from various articles online. There is some rubbish that washes up and some of the hotels/restaurants appear not to have returned since Covid which is a shame. It can be quite dark at night and most places seem to shut between 8 and 10pm but during the day there is a fairly good choice of places to sit and have some food or a drink.

Very beautiful beach. What a pity that I didn't book my hotel near this beach. Definitely will stay here next time. I stay Chaweng beach which is dirty and with a lot seaweed near shore. Not a good place for swimming.

Lamai Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Koh Samui. The only bad thing is that during Covid, it looked a bit more abandoned (understandable), withthe sight of closed down restaurants etc. But I guess that will be solved soon once it opens again. The beach is still very beautiful! Would love to come here again soon!

Really beautiful beach with good food, beautiful palm trees with some shade too , waves can be crazy but so fun for good swimmers and often red flag is up so can be dangerous for poor swimmers but you can find some great shells as a result

long stretch of beautiful beach with clear waters, many public places to eat, get massages and tan. downside, it's a public beach and is dirty, buildings along the beach are all rather rundown. lack trees along the beach to provide good shades for those who need to take a breather

Lovely quiet white sand beach. Beautiful warm water. Shallow. Unable to swim currently due to COVID.

MUST go experience. Nice sand. Great views. Rentals on the beach. 100bat for a beach chair is a great deal. The water was amazing in color and clarity. We went to a lot of different beaches and this was one of our favorites. (Loved Crystal bay)

I liked the beach. Didn't seem crowded or hundreds of sun loungers fighting for space. The waves can go up almost to many of the cafΓ©s along the beach. Plenty of food and drink options all the way along.

I haven't seen this beach without waves, it kind of reminded me of Karon beach in Phuket.

Lamai is on the East coast of Koh Samui Island. It has a great beach, bars, restaurants and watersports, Lamai beach has it all. The beach can get busy at times but the beauty of Lamai beach is space, you are not crammed in and you can enjoy your beach time without boom boom music blaring out. A great beach for families

πŸ‘ The Garbage problem at a stunning bay had left us quite thoughtful and shocked. I have travelled South East Asia a couple of times over the past 11 years but never came across such a polluted bay. Despite this : The scene is stunning, very beautiful with large rocks and palm trees, a couple of rest...
