The hotel is extremely old and out dated. We checked into our room expecting a 5 night stay. Upon arrival our room was absolutely disgusting. Half drank water bottles, dead bugs all over the floor, dirt and stains as well as an awful smell. We went to tell the front desk and she stated that the rooms aren’t like pictures since they are professionally done. She did not believe the room was dirty so she made us take her in so she could take pictures of everything. She “upgraded” is for the night but insisted we stay because it was late and we wouldn’t be able to find another hotel. We unfortunately agreed and had dinner at the restaurant. Extremely expensive for very poor quality good. My partner had the pizza and it looked like one you would buy from the 7/11. Next morning we found two cockroaches in the “upgraded” room. Breakfast was terrible. We needed up switching hotels that morning. Front reception still made us pay in full with no apology. Save your money and get a better hotel with better service and a beach you can actually swim at

Wonderful location and quality of the beach nearby. Rooms are cozy and pretty big and are a good money value. We were staying at this hotel for more than 2 weeks. After covid the hotel is still not good maintained. Towels and linen are partially torn and outdated, cleaning of general areas like swimming pool and gym can not be done in days (rubbish bin in gym was not cleaned at all during our stay), AC in gym is not working and machines are dirty. Breakfast is one of the worst i ever had in hotels. Quality of food could be better. The same i would say about restaurant prices. They are pretty high in comparison to nearby places, but quality is not of this pricing level. Due to the fact that there are not so many guests now staying, more attention could be given by the hotel management to the areas and service, but I hope all this will be fixed. All the best

Staff were very helpful, welcoming and attentive. The views are terrific. The position is remote. The premises is old, somewhat unkept and in desperate need of an extensive renovation. The menu is not extensive. The chef cooked delicious meals, however serving sizes are small. Breakfast is limited to very basic options.

AVOID! We booked The Saraan for 10 nights, non refundable. Saraan looks good on the net, but it seems, unless you have a sea view room (away from the road) sleep will be difficult. The Saraan is built on a thin strip, wedged between a busy road and what passes for a beach. We had room 307 which backed directly onto this main road - constant 24/7 noise of trucks and motorbikes labouring up the hill. Interior was shabby with rotten timber and floorboards. Breakfast was also a joke - tiny portions. The hotel refused to upgrade our room to a quieter one - even for an additional charge. They told us, yes, there was a sea view room available for only 2 nights, but otherwise they were ‘fully booked’ - a joke since there were very few guests there: this is the quiet season, after all. But, the hotel insisted we had to pay the full charge of 4,000THB per night, and couldn’t offer us any refund at all or credit for the nights we had already paid for. In other words, our 10 nights, fully paid, were gone. We came here for a vacation, not this rubbish. After trying, very reasonably to negotiate with reception (‘Manager, they no here!’) we thought, Enough! and left.

What may have once been quite a good hotel is let down by poor upkeep and shoddy management. It really wouldn't take much investment to bring it back to a good standard, that, and adding in management who knew what they were doing. The location, though, can't be fixed. It's almost on the beach but not quite, and the part that is near is filthy. To go anywhere you need to rent a scooter, or get a taxi and they are expensive. It's just too far to anywhere in either direction by walking, which in reality is out of the question as you have a busy road to navigate with no pavement. The restaurant is OK, just, the staff don't have a clue about service but the food, on the limited menu, isn't bad. Starters invariably come after the mains, though, which is just odd. The rooms could be good, the look and feel of old colonial is appealing but they are tired and lack upkeep which is a shame. On the plus side, they are a good size. All in all, it's not the 4 star it's marketed as, barely a 3 star, in reality.

Lovely place still stops at the 00s. The staffs are nice but don't take care of customer's needs. The jacuzzi room was nice, but the resort doesn't have a proper beachside. The restaurant is the worst place where I ate. They even don't know how to cook Thai food. At the breakfast my wife asked for a cup of coffee because was finished, and they replied "there is Thea" ahahah so fun but not low in professionals terms. Wasn't a holiday but honeymoon trip.

Gorgeous rooms, view, staff! This is truly an amazing hotel. Villas are very nice, we had a beachside pool villa and the views are spectacular! The sandy beach is accessible from the restaurant. And a short stroll to main beach. Food was all really tasty. We had just about everything on the menu and couldn't fault any of it! Cocktails are reasonably priced. Can't wait to come back again.

Fabulous hotel, however, not a great location no busses stop here if you don't have your own transport very hard to get around. The hotel rooms are wonderful but need a little general tlc. Pool stunning...The hotel though is badly in need of general maintainance. Rooves leak in general areas. Just generally run down after Covid and being closed for 2 years. The tv stopped working on our 2nd day (7day stay), and never came back on. Staff were not too concerned and told different stories as to what had gone wrong?? Beach is fabulous, staff efficient and mostly very helpful. Restaurant very good quality food but being run on a shoestring. We would stay again if the upgrades were done.

Pleasant 4 night stay! Thank you so much! we had 2 jacuzzi rooms. Rooms were spacious and clean.. some parts, a tad rustic.. but that’s island life no?!? All staff were kind and accommodating, breakfast was nice and simple. The view is absolutely amazing! I recommended you try to catch a sunrise! Walk further along the beach for front row seat! Thank me later;) We hired a car, we went to see elephants, all of which was organised by the staff. Zero stress. :) All in all.. great price, good relaxing vibes.. and remember.. it’s just geography, it’s who you’re with that really counts! 🤙🏼

Friendly staff and the sea front villas have a great view. Great value for money and the place is clean and comfortable. They also try their best to accommodate requests and services. They were very quick to answering our requests too. Their food was nice but I find they are better in international plates than local (weird I know). The place is a bit run down and struggling to find skilled staff after covid but slowly trying to get back on its feet (other places in the island is in similar situation though). I would come here again if you are looking for a great view and value for money.

We stayed a few nights thanks to some good offers from Agoda. We had the simple room but very big bath room with a big bathtub. Unfortunately these rooms are right by the road which made it noisy. The room was dated, old style but for the price we paid we are not complaining. The restaurant and swimming have a beautiful view of the bay. The breakfast was pretty good. Would recommend to stay if you got a good deal from the booking sites and if you have a transportation as it’s a bit far to walk to the main area.

Very lovely resort. Better for travelers who rented motorbikes or cars. Had a lovely walk down the beach though to get to other places. We took the room jacuzzi and pleasantly surprised to have a very nice bath tub as well. Room was spacious, suitable for couple. Am traveling with my friend, made for awkward moment during shower time as its open concept. However, patio is large and airy, so nice to hang out there. The Sarann's staff are friendly and helpful with the 2nd PCR test required for travelers entering Thailand after 24 Dec. Definitely value for money for the room and great experience for a customer.

Obviously has just reopened so not up to a 4 star rating yet. Such as an open unlined bin in the toilet. Rooms clean and comfortable. Internet signal slow. Breakfast needs to be a buffet or a menu available.

It's good for the price. The hotel is a bit old but not too old. The room is spacious. Wifi was unstable at first but it's OK after the hotel fixed it. The jacuzzi tub works great. 4 pillows. No hand towels. The jacuzzi suite rooms and deluxe rooms are right next to the street so you can hear traffic. The jacuzzi villas are a bit further away from the street. Breakfast is minimal but not limited.

Nice resort right on the beach, beautiful listening to the waves crash all night with views from bed! Sunrise views were beautiful also.

The rooms were nice but the noise from the road behind the hotel was really bad, so loud. The staff were nice and the food was okay, they had a promotion on dinning so we ate a few times here. The beach is not really usable due to rocks so you have to walk to another resorts Beach area to swim. Pool area is small but okay if not many people. Housekeeping didn't replace out water or towels and didn't clean my other room even though the sign was on the door for service. Shower hot water didn't work properly, but they did fix it, same with the fan and TV. For an expensive hotel I expect better. But the overall hotel was clean. I won't stay here again.

The hotel is amazing, the staff is very kind and helpful, they take care of everything. The view is simply stunning The rooms are spacious and clean. It is worth going to the programs that can be booked at the hotel, these tours cover all the important places you must see: Islands by speedboat, jungle tour, elephant sanctuary, etc..., the hotel is excellent for daily meals and drinks, and it is worth spending some time by the pool and on the sandy beach. But if someone likes to be constantly in motion, then you have to rent a scooter, because it is dangerous to go out of the hotel (there are no sidewalks, only 2-2 lane roads!). We spent 10 days on Samui, this amount of time was just right, but it was hard to leave ❤️

Hotel and staff very nice. Just one thing: drinks prices are more expensive than in a beach club. I paid 165 THB for a Singha beer. It cost 40 THB at 7/11 and 120THB in a fancy beach club where we’ve been.

We had a seaview suite. The staff were friendly and very attentive, I give them 5*:) The location of my room is 👍. You wake up having a seaview and a private pool and a private deck. Sadly, we can't have a swim in the sea as it has very rocky shore. Disappointed with the shape of the floors of our suite, very run down and you sink in on some spots. Most disappointed with the beach nearby to the resort as there was an abandoned restaurant full of garbage.

Really great rooms if you love water.. spa baths... ocean front... bathtub and a shower... plus lovely pool. Some rooms are quite a walk but spacious and welcoming.

Stayed in a sea front villa for a night... The room was large just right in the sea front.. The living room was amazing. The pool area was really beautiful that you can sit back and relax, do some work while admiring the beautiful sea view ... The staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was excellent.. 😊😊😍

The Saraan was the best place I’ve stayed in my life. Granted, I’m 23 - but still. From the moment we walked in, the staff did not miss a beat, they did not have anything but a smile on their faces, and made sure that EVERYTHING was perfect. Most of the staff speaks English very well. They are clearly uniformed and knowledgeable of the island. The rooms are spotless and spacious with nice balconies and quality facilities. You can rent motorbikes from the hotel (!!) for 200 baht / 24 hours. They will also assist you in renting other transportation or booking excursions. The food here was great as well! Happy hour every day from 1-5. The view is the BEST on the island - trust me, we went to a lot of hotels. You have walking access to a long and beautiful stretch of beach that includes on it beachside massages and bars. The hotel also packs a beach bag for you with towels ready in your room upon check in. Nightlife is not far down the road and can easily be explored using a bike or motorbike. While you’re at The Saraan, check out MAMA’S - a great food spot a 15 minute walk (or 1 minute motorbike ride) away. There is constant security in front of the hotel, someone always at the front desk, and security walking the inside at night to the point that I felt comfortable running a miles worth of laps at 8:00 PM. Lastly, the night before we checked out, they asked us when we’d be checking out to which I replied 6:30 am. I knew this was before breakfast which was no big deal to me. When I said that we’d be leaving at 6:30, completely unprompted, they said that they’d have breakfast waiting for us at the front desk in the morning. And they did! They made us each a box to take on the road. I simply cannot recommend this place enough. The price is great - especially split between two travelers - and the quality that you get for it is unbelievable.

I am blown away by the excellence of this resort! The staff are absolutely amazing, as a solo traveler they made me feel so comfortable and at home, I tried a different breakfast every and was never disappointed, the quality of food is incredible, the cocktails are amazing, the view is out of the world and they know exactly how to create a beautiful romantic atmosphere.. 10/10!

Stayed here in the pool villa for 5 nights and it was beautiful. The staff are friendly and welcoming and will assist any problems. The restaurant there isn't the best, they had the same menu every single day which was very repetitive. You can see how bad covid hit this place by the lack of Maintenance and renovations done. Will definitely come back if these changes happen

Our stay at the Sarann is not bad so far. It's no surprise that the hotel is torn and very much dated. The rooms are huge, the layout is nice, proximity to the ocean is amazing but it lacks proper maintenance. The staff are doing their best, it seems this place was hit hard by Covid, but I mean we were promised a luxurious stay. We got a luxury escape package with many inclusions but in all honesty, nothing luxurious, or super special. Our room is ocean facing so it's hard not to enjoy the stunning views, but the food experience has been disappointing, particularly the Thai food menu. The cocktails are good but the customer service culture is lacking a bit, staff are very helpful, they seem to be doing their best but the place is very much abandoned and feels old and beyond rustic. Gym, spa, and other amneties are in a very poor condition

The rooms were spacious and luxurious, service was exceptional (we accidentally broke the glass that our cocktail was served in, and they were all too kind to just take care of it for us). The pool and its view are absolutely spectacular, and having the free twice - daily shuttle to the city was a great perk too. Overall very nice hotel! The only downside I can think of was the food, which was pretty meh.

So so experience. If you are looking for a beach resort, this is not the place. The beach is dirty. The deck chairs are filthy. Room service needs major improvement - need to ask for basics like towels and amenities to be replenished. Food quality is also below expectation- they serve frozen half cooked pizza. Pasta is over cooked to the point of mushy ….

  • 3/5 Chris K. 2 years ago on Google
This is March 22, so still very low scale tourism. The hotel is run down, on the decks there are loose floor boards, the housekeeping is not cleaning very thoroughly, the AC is quite noise and full of spiderwebs, everywhere on the property broken down furniture is standing around, gardens are getting a bit wild, the food is mediocre… In short, the property has not seen much love in the last two years. And the pictures are obviously quite old and show a better time. But: The view from the private pool villas is one of a kind. The pools are spacious and clean, and you have complete privacy. If you’re fine with a bit of a haunted hotel experience and the pricing is not to steep for you, this is worth taking. Having had a look at the jacuzzi rooms, i can’t imagine a reason to book them. There are cheaper and newer options on the island.

Beautiful view from the pool villa but the hotel needs a lot of work on the food, the breakfast is the worst i ever had. Also will be nice if they organize some events once in a while as i’ve been there for 2 weeks and nothing happens there. It’s really dead

Super facilities and nice pool. Decent breakfast in house but not too many food choices around the area. Good to have a weekend stay in fantastic villa room at reasonable prices.

  • 4/5 Vijay Kumar C. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is a bit dated and needs a bit of work, but on the other side the Hotel Manager Wasan (Sam), Head Chef (Deon) and all serving staff are very helpful, accommodating and very kind. They will go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We had the jacauzzi room, it was fantastic, very spacious and very good for couples as it has king bed. We have not seen such a big room at very reasonable price. Our package has breakfast, lunch and dinner with cocktails and 30 min massage for each of us every day, but we had to combine 2 days massage into 1 hr massage to be worthwhile for the message girls to come and do it. Overall our stay was very pleasant, nice and very relaxing. We are definitely back to get the pool room. We give 4/5 stars for their service and overall score.

  • 3/5 C C. 1 year ago on Google
Room is decent size. Shared pool has beach view. Some staff is nice. But there is always something missing in housekeeping. We requested 3 times cleaning during 7 night stays. First time towels missing, second time toilet paper missing, third time shampoo conditioner missing. They seem to forget replenish the very basic necessities. Also need to wait for long time after calling them. Breakfast tastes very bad. It’s a la carte but also like buffet you can order as much as you want. Shower water sometimes too hot sometimes too cold.
