A
complete
ripoff
-
advertised
as
5
star
and
nowhere
near
it.
We
stayed
in
the
honeymoon
suite
-
it
is
pretty
unremarkable
and
there
is
an
obvious
lack
of
attention
to
detail
inside
and
out
that
might
be
tolerable
in
a
budget
option,
but
not
in
a
supposed
high
end
resort.
In
the
room,
we
find:
-
A
broken
bathroom
door
that
would
not
close.
It
could
not
be
fixed
until
the
next
day,
and
even
then
it
still
took
some
effort
to
close.
-
A
partially
clogged
shower
drain
that
took
forever
to
drain.
-
A
filthy
plush
decoration
with
some
odd
looking
stains
on
it
in
the
bathroom.
-
Mismatched
and
stained
towels
-
Other
fun
odds
and
ends
like
broken
blinds,
holes
in
the
wall,
a
rusted
over
toiled
paper
holder,
an
improperly
cleaned
toilet,
and
torn
carpeting.
-
The
yard
was
poorly
landscaped,
with
broken
fencing,
wires
hanging
from
the
trees
and
exposed
wires
on
the
ground.
The
hot
tub
was
filthy
and
not
ready
to
be
used.
The
house
next
door
was
undergoing
construction.
All
day.
Loudly.
Breakfast
is
included
with
the
stay,
and
would
be
considered
lousy
at
a
Holiday
Inn.
The
first
morning,
I
get
two
eggs
sunny
side
up,
a
hot
dog,
two
strips
of
bacon,
and
a
salad
with
mayonnaise
as
dressing.
Welch's
grape
is
the
beverage
of
choice.
The
second
morning
I
get
scrambled
eggs
with
one
slice
of
american
cheese
melted
over
them.
The
third
morning,
I
opt
not
to
have
breakfast.
Service
-
TERRIBLE.
On
the
second
day,
I'd
asked
to
speak
to
the
manager,
and
told
her
that
the
stay
was
not
up
to
our
expectation.
Without
hearing
my
reasons
out,
she
immediately
agreed
and
offered
to
move
us
to
another
location
the
next
day.
We
assumed
we
would
be
upgraded,
and
though
it
would
only
be
for
less
than
half
our
stay,
it
would
go
a
long
way
toward
alleviating
our
disappointment,
so
we
accepted.
The
next
day
we
were
taken
to
a
nice,
but
significantly
smaller
house
nearby
that
turned
out
to
be
in
a
different
resort
altogether
(Samui
Blue
Orchid.)
The
room
was
cleaner,
but
we
no
longer
had
a
yard
or
a
hot
tub
that
we
had
paid
for.
Out
of
curiosity,
we
looked
up
the
cost
of
a
stay
in
our
new
location
and
found
it
cost
HALF
what
we
paid.
We
were
not
upgraded,
WE
WERE
MASSIVELY
DOWNGRADED.
When
I
asked
the
manager
about
this,
her
initial
explanation
was
the
the
price
we
saw
was
without
breakfast
included,
and
that
the
breakfast
I
described
and
took
pictures
of
cost
nearly
$100/day!!!
When
I
explained
to
her
that
this
was
absurd,
she
told
me
that
she
would
speak
to
her
manager
about
this.
The
next
day
we
got
the
response
-
since
we
had
asked
to
move
rooms,
and
our
original
room
was
left
vacant
and
unfilled,
we
were
on
the
hook
for
the
cost
of
it.
Apparently,
in
the
eyes
of
the
resort,
it
is
our
job
to
ensure
that
the
rooms
stay
filled,
rather
than
their
job
to
accommodate
us
and
live
up
to
what
they
advertise
themselves
to
be.
We
felt
extremely
taken
advantage
of,
and
it
put
a
damper
on
our
trip.
Amenities
-
There
are
none
to
speak
of.
There
is
no
central
area;
no
place
to
sit
by
a
communal
pool,
grab
a
drink
or
dinner,
or
work
out.
There
is
virtually
no
staff
-
the
manager
seems
to
address
nearly
everything,
along
with
a
couple
of
helpers.
We
had
hoped
to
be
able
to
arrange
some
tours
through
the
resort,
but
the
helper
that
acted
as
our
"concierge"
spoke
virtually
no
English,
and
could
not
give
us
an
explanation
of
what
the
options
were.
From
what
we
gathered,
there
really
isn't
much
of
an
option
other
than
renting
the
resort's
in-house
cab
to
take
you
around
the
island
for
a
few
hours.
We
ended
up
booking
our
tours
ourselves.
On
the
first
night,
we
called
to
try
to
get
recommendations
for
good
restaurants
and
bars
in
the
area.
We
were
simply
told
to
go
to
Chaweng
beach
and
look
around,
and
ended
up
googling
and
yelping
the
options
ourselves.
These
are
things
I
don't
mind
doing
-
when
I'm
staying
at
a
hostel
or
a
budget
hotel,
but
this
is
supposed
to
be
a
5-star
resort.
Location
-
mediocre.
Far
from
the
main
beach
and
nightlife/shopping
area.
Each
time
you
want
to
go
there
you
have
to
pay
600
BHT(around
$20
USD)
to
be
cabbed
there
and
back.
