😠 I’ve never had disappointing food in Japan before, until today. Walked in to a stuffy, stifling hot restaurant with no one in sight. We greeted twice before the chef grunted in acknowledgement from the kitchen, and gestured to take a seat. We ordered seafood okonomiyaki, takoyaki & chicken gyoza.... People often mention halal, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, restaurant, taste, Japanese, Osaka, good, chef, rice,

I’ve never had disappointing food in Japan before, until today. Walked in to a stuffy, stifling hot restaurant with no one in sight. We greeted twice before the chef grunted in acknowledgement from the kitchen, and gestured to take a seat. We ordered seafood okonomiyaki, takoyaki & chicken gyoza. Still not a word from the chef so far, who seem to be the only person working. Okonomiyaki - Ingredients were fresh & fairly generous, but the texture was oddly watery and it barely held together. Takoyaki - Not the worst, a little too soft & gooey on the exterior for my personal taste. The tako pieces were tiny. Gyoza - They were plump and filling was pretty decent, though there seem to be more vegs than chicken. Just don’t expect crispy bottoms and soft, thin skin. Even until we paid for our meal, the chef hasn’t spoken. Overall, the service & food experience were below expectations. I’ve had the authentic versions of dishes above before in Osaka and understand that different chefs have their own styles, but these were far from good. I would not recommend unless you have absolutely no other choice. I hope things improve for more Muslims to enjoy Japanese food.

Delicious halal food.I especially love the fried chicken with egg mayonnaise that I ordered 2 of it. The rice with beef is another huge hit. We also get to buy some unique souvenirs though they were quite pricey. There is a prayer room for Muslim customers too.

The place is quite small, and the taste is average. However, they provide a fairly complete Japanese halal menu, starting from donburi, takoyaki, ramen, to okonomiyaki. This place also sells a lot of halal おみやげ.

I really like Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki that serve with delicious and tasty sauces. Cozy place to eat and there’s a prayer room. You can also find some halal food for souvenirs. Great!

Okonomiyaki - acceptable although a bit salty. Texture can't comment as this is first time eating it. Beef bowl - mostly tendon. Mixed altogether before eating. Taste just nice. Takoyaki - chewy with different sizes each ball. Not all balls have squid/octopus. dumplings - not cooked properly. Certain part overcooked. miso soup - not thick as used to taste. A bit spicy - probably mistakenly drop few chili paper (?)

Only halal restaurant I visited in Osaka and the food made me satisfied! Okonomiyaki was very tasty, almost bought 2 portion because it was so good! Other than that, I ordered fried chicken curry rice, the chicken was so tender and juicy meanwhile the rice and curry sauce was in perfect combination One thing that made me sad is because their takoyaki has sold out. It was predictable because they offer halal food in Osaka which is very rare, based on my research and also they ran delivery service too They have section that sell halal snacks, souvenirs, halal sauce (shoyu, ponzu, and I believe takoyaki/okonomiyaki sauce as well). So if you have difficulty in finding halal souvenirs in Japan, you must buy some here because they assure you the products is halal or at least plant-based and alcohol free even it doesn’t have halal logo on it. I bought myself Japan langue de chat which has sweet taste and unique texture. Overall, when I came back to Osaka, I will definitely come back here to taste their takoyaki

Nestled in the heart of Osaka, Matsuri offers a delightful dining experience for those seeking a convenient and flavorful meal. Boasting an excellent location near the train station, an extensive range of halal meal options, and a delectable takoyaki that leaves a lasting impression, Matsuri is a culinary hotspot worth visiting. One of the most striking aspects of Matsuri is its prime location. Situated just a stone's throw away from the train station, the restaurant provides an accessible and comfortable retreat for weary travelers, busy commuters, and locals alike. The ease of reaching Matsuri makes it a popular choice for diners seeking a hassle-free meal. Matsuri's commitment to inclusivity is evident in its extensive range of halal meal options. The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes to accommodate various dietary preferences, providing Muslim patrons with the opportunity to indulge in a true Osaka dining experience without any concerns. This thoughtfulness towards the needs of all customers makes Matsuri a welcoming and enjoyable place to dine. The star of Matsuri's menu is undoubtedly the takoyaki. With its perfectly crispy exterior and tender, succulent octopus filling, this dish is a delicious representation of Osaka's culinary prowess. The burst of flavors and the melt-in-your-mouth sensation make Matsuri's takoyaki a must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant. However, not all dishes at Matsuri shine as brightly as their takoyaki. The curry and beef bowl, while certainly satisfying, come across as somewhat ordinary. Although enjoyable, these dishes could benefit from a touch of refinement or a unique twist to make them truly memorable. In conclusion, Matsuri is a fantastic dining destination for those seeking a combination of convenience, inclusivity, and notable flavors. With its prime location, extensive halal menu, and delectable takoyaki, it's easy to overlook the occasional culinary misstep. If you find yourself in Osaka, be sure to give Matsuri a visit – your taste buds will thank you!

This is a halal Japanese restaurant that serves Japanese food and dessert. I tried their chicken cutlet curry rice for ¥1,380 and it was good. The good points, this restaurant is serving halal menu so muslim can eat here and try Japanese food without worry. But unfortunately the service was disappointing. The chef (maybe the owner) is not smiling at all, no greetings, and seems on bad mood all the time. But if you only care for halal food experiences in Japan, this is one of many other restaurants recommendations for you.

Can't remember if I went there before so I entered with the impression of a first timer. The chef doesnt strike off as friendly even though it was still early and there was only 1 couple there. Tried the okonomiyaki and it tasted quite OK.

Halal restaurant in Osaka worth visiting for. The menu has variety as some halal restaurant only focus on ramen/noodles. We had okonomiyaki, curry rice, takoyaki and beef bowl. The inside quite small but is equipped with prayer room (for 2 people at once) and wudhu place.

Halal Japanese restaurant with Japanese chef. As far as I know, halal takoyaki and halal okonomiyaki can only be found here (with halal in printed form). The taste is nice but it will be better if the portion is bigger. They also have place to pray and ablution for muslim. The staff also usually from south Asian countries so they can speak English well.

What a pleasant food experience in Osaka. They provide traditional food such as Okonomiyaki and Takoyaki as well as ramen. Kids love their Fried Chicken. Of course you can order more rice if you need to. And more important, their provide Halal food with affordable price.

Authentic Japanese cuisines served in halal methods. Its okonomiyaki and takoyaki tasted very delicious! The restaurant is small, so you might want to come early to avoid long queue. We’ll definitely be back

We ordered every single dish on their vegetarian menu. Takoyaki, fried noodles, Samurai Ramen and Okonomiyaki! Direction were pretty straight forward following the google map. There’s a male staff who speaks english and he were very helpful answering our queries for every food item. They sells their samurai ramen in “instant noodle” form, one packet for two servings. Would recommend and love to come back here again.

A very warm & cosy place. Food served was piping hot, fresh and delicious. Ordered takoyaki, fried chicken karage, okonomiyaki, egg tamago and beef rice don. Better to reach early when opening or do make a reservation. We were lucky to arrive first during opening, a little late you’ll need to start queuing as they have limited seating. Overall, highly recommend to all, especially muslims sisters and brothers who wants to try out authentic takoyaki and okonomiyaki 😋 Simply delicious, will come back again. Insha’allah 🤲🏻

Came as a group of 5, seating wasn't an issue as we had reserved in advance. We all ordered different things and it seems that everyone except me enjoyed the food. This was because I ordered the Kobe Beef for ¥5000 and it tasted very chewy and nothing like kobe beef. I've had normal beef for a lot cheaper elsewhere which tasted 10 times better. I should have listened to the reviews about the kobe beef and not ordered it. So this review is now another warning for anyone wanting to try the kobe beef here... don't!

Such a small restaurant. But the environment is great. Super friendly waiter and chef. The are lots of common japanese food. The taste was a bit authentic and better comparing to the taste of these food in Malaysia. The mochi was superb. The best I had that day. Anyway, arigatou gozaimas. Sayonara. There is musola inside the restaurant also so that you can have your prayer while waiting for the food.

Nice restaurant, cosy and fits about 4 tables inside. Service is fast and the waiter is friendly. Tried the takoyaki and okonomiyaki as matsuri is said to be the only truly halal place around osaka city that serves takoyaki and okonomiyaki. The takoyaki is delicious we ordered it twice. The okonomiyaki is just OK. Somehow tasted a bit bland. They also offered a few options of halal souvenirs inside the shop; chocs, cookies and cakes and O truly appreciate this. Makes buying halal souvenirs much easier and worry free.

Had dry curry chicken with fried egg and rice. Perfect size for lunch. Special curry rice was also good. Most memorable thing that happened during the visit was that the chef/waiter/cashier was quiet yet hospitable. We arrived about 45 mins before lunch ended. Another couple with an infant came after us and was originally told to they could only order takeout. While the couple was debating whether they could find another halal restaurant, the owner made a call and invited the family in for dine in instead. Knowing how stubborn Japanese could be with time, it was truly heartwarming to see him stepped out from this comfort zone to feed the hungry.

The shop is very small, there is only 3 or 4 tables of 2. Please note on the opening hours of the shop. I went there about 1.35 and last order was on 1.30. However, i requested for take away and the owner accepted the request. We got chicken katsu curry rice and takoyaki. Unable to get to taste okonomiyaki since it's already sold out.

We had the chicken cutlet curry rice which was very good (twice we've had it, twice it's been good!), the okonomiyaki & vegan curry rice was good too! the chef/owner isn't the really chatty which was absolutely fine with us.. over all this place is definitely 5/5 stars for us! The owner is very kind at heart for running a restaurant that serves halal options.. my husband and i have been having a hard time here in Osaka finding halal options! Inshallah we'll be back again next time we come go Japan! My only complaint is that it smells a little like cigarettes.. it's not overwhelming however and you'll get over it very quickly!

Good choice for those interested in various Japanese style foods (especially a typical Japanese street food i.e., okonomiyaki, takoyaki). The chef is Japanese. The foods taste delicious. During this pandemic, unfortunately they don't provide halal Omiyage (snacks and souvenirs).

The quickest to here is via Exit 7, subway Nodahanshin. Eatery can fit up to 10 pax at one time. Halal selection of foods and japanese chocolate, sauces and souveniers.

The takoyaki was out of this world! The okonomiyaki and chicken dumplings were also very good. The waiter was very polite and happy to explain to us the different dishes as we were newcomers to Osaka and Japan.

Vegan Takoyaki was worth traveling from Dotonburi area (where I was staying and having trouble finding vegetarian or vegan Takoyaki) for. I ordered the wasabi ramen (vegan) because I’d never heard of it before. I generally like wasabi with sushi, but apparently this was made for people with a very high tolerance for wasabi. Way too strong for my taste, but if you love wasabi, then you might enjoy this. I very much appreciate the clearly labeled vegan options and how they cater to Muslims as well. Lots of happy people showing up, excited to try traditional Japanese and Osakan dishes. Thank you for all that you do, Matsuri.

Located along main road. This restaurant sells Muslim friendly meals cooked by Japanese. For me, the food just average. Place is very small and only fit in about10pax 3 tables (2 tables 4pax each and 1 table 2pax). If its full, need to wait outside very cold. Sells halal chocolate for souvenirs and also layer roll cake. Food just average. Can add this place into your dining list.

It was a so-so taste from them, not my fav place yet u can get halal product here like chocolate, biscuit, drinks and mochi for souvenir. The price a bit expensive. They should improve the taste of the dishes. The okonomiyaki burnt at the bottom so it taste smoke, and the "fist cake" forgot the name also turn black.. i only love the chocolate n premium cookies here

One of nice halal restaurants in osaka. The place is close to the station, all menu are halal, the owner is super nice, and you can find halal omiyage (souvenir) here. You also can experience to make your own takoyaki. Just, the place is quite small and the menu are good but not very special.

  • 5/5 OkeHore 2 years ago on Google
We came empty stomach and ended a full. The okonomiyaki, takoyaki, gyoza, wasabi ramen, taiyaki are all delicious! Although it is quiet, the owner made all our orders We thought it was closed because barely no one there. Hopefully, many foreign tourists can visit Japan soon and enjoy eating here.

I went here on the weekend. I was curious with the food. It used to be a high rated Halal- Muslim Friendly restaurant in Osaka. Located right across Noda Hanshin Station. Just a tip, you may want to exit from exit 6 or 7 to go there. I really appreciate that despite being a non muslim, the owner keep his business provides all halal menu. Running a business itself is tough here, imagine doing it combo as halal restaurant (from halal raw mat to the end of process). I am very touched. I ordered spicy ramen and okonomiyaki. Taste is good, the okonomiyaki is soo soft. It might not be the most delicious, but it is tasty. The owner does not speak English, and he runs the restaurant by himself from service to cook. You better be patient. They used to provide prayer room, shamefuly, there are some people that steal stuffs from there so it was written in the shop that they choosed to close the prayer room service :((( I was so ashamed to hear this. I also bought the souvenirs (a langue de cat snack) well, it was good. You can see it as an option as your halal Japan souvenir :)

👍👍 Go to the basement floor which has all kinds of food stalls and specialty stores. Go there an hour before closing and most of the packaged food items will be discounted like 30% or Y300 off. It’s great deal for budget travel. They also have very good yogurt drinks and other bakery items.
