This restaurant is a hidden gem, offering a relaxed and inviting atmosphere for delicious food and drinks. The owner, who is friendly and fluent in English, adds a personal touch to the dining experience. While the menu is limited to three dishes, each one is carefully prepared and bursting with flavor. My only suggestion would be to include a slightly larger portion of protein in the beef curry rice, as it would further enhance the dish.

A curry with the spicy taste (buldak-bokkeummyeon) that Koreans like. The boss is also cheerful.

Highly recommend this place to all vegetarian and vegan foodies! The curry is awesome and you can taste the passion of the owner about curry. The restaurant is small but cozy, only five places are in it. The owner speaks perfectly English and can get you good informations about Osaka and Japan. This is a place you can stay longer and enjoy a good conversation.

The restaurant is a small and easy to find place on the street corner. Three restaurant seats 5 and has a cozy atmosphere. There are three options: Curry beef, Vegan Curry, or half & half. I got the half & half and both curries we delicious. The owner is very polite and well spoken - it was a pleasure speaking to him as we enjoyed our meals. If you're in the area, I would definitely recommend you to stop by for some great Japanese Curry!

The beef and veggie curry was spicy & delicious. The owner was very cool and let me try some house made umeshu, which was also very good! Highly recommend this spot for anyone in the Osaka area (aka the best city in Japan)!

Simple curry rice, no side dish or garnish, only curry and rice. It is powerful in the taste and you can feel the richness and savory with these simple combinations. Definitely worth a try, it differs from all the curry dishes I tried before and is surprisingly good. Also the owner is also like a local guide. You can just chat with him and he will explain with you all the great stuff for you to explore and the way to eat in Osaka. Great to meet the owner.

Easily the best curry I had in Japan, and one of the best in my life (coming from a Londoner). Super affordable. And to top it off, Kaz (the owner) was one of the most interesting and fun person I had the pleasure to chat/drink with during my travels. If you're visiting Osaka, this is a must-go-to curry house.

Dote curry was delicious! Just the right amount of spiciness♪ The owner of the shop is also very friendly.

The inside of the restaurant is small and there are not many seats. The curry was spicy and delicious. Since there are only two types, we recommend the Aigake curry so you can enjoy both.

3 options - beef, vegan, or combo of both. Extremely delicious curry where i feel you can really taste the seasoning. The flavour of the curry is only matched by the friendliness of the owner. Also he keeps chili powder in a jar of his own making if you want it spicier. Go if you can!

My wife and I stumbled upon this curry shop and it was easily one of the best experiences we’ve had while visiting Japan. The food was great and the conversation with the shop owner was even better. He is very friendly and is fluent in English. I will be recommending this experience to my friends and family visiting Osaka!

Beautiful, cozy shop in an under-loved part of the city. Kaz-san is fluent in english and was a charming and gracious host. The curry was flavorful and just the right level of spicy. とっても美味しかった。Numerous drinks and great conversation make for an awesome night

We stumbled upon this place because we were looking for vegan food in Osaka. The written claims "best curry in town!" On the windows of this shop have been verified by us. The curry was great and we had a lovely chat with the owner. He told us things about the neighborhood and we talked about music . Came for the curry and left with music recommendations! 5/5

This is truly a unique and amazing curry shop hiding in a area not many tourists go but it definitely needs to be a stop if you want some amazing curry. Incredibly nice owner who creates his own curry spice blend that's complex and savory. Big bonus Kaz the owner speaks English and is a excellent guide and story teller. Will definitely be coming back again!

[DEC 2018] Simply the best Japanese curry in Japan! Small cozy (5 seat bar counter) restaurant/watering-hole. Owner-Chef-Musician Kaz is a great conversationist. Speaks English fluently and has great stories of his travels to share. Has a nice whisky list too..actually the bottles are on the wall. Ask for his secret spice to add to his already delicious curry for an additional kick! We liked it so much we changed our itinerary so we can drop by 1 more time on our way to the airport! [DEC 2023] So good to be back! And a great catch up after a Covid interrupted 5 years! The curry is as good as ever! Our boy wolfed down 2 servings in no time 😂 Would have stayed to drink and chat till closing time, but it wouldn’t have been fair to the family who were waiting outside in the cold for a chance to taste Kaz’s curry and hospitality. Already looking forward to the next visit! [DEC 2023] Walked by today just before Kaz’s afternoon break - our hotel this time is a 2min walk away - and were lucky to be seated immediately. Kaz found out our girl recently picked up guitar playing and he was kind enough to share some guitar/music tips while jamming along to Tatsuro Yamashita as we enjoyed the curry. Yup, Kaz is an accomplished musician too!

You can't really do better for the price (~$6 for a plate of curry). It has 3 options: beef, vegan, and mixed. This is a little place with just a counter for about 6 people, but the cozy atmosphere with an awesome English-speaking owner that will chat with you while you eat makes the experience feel authentic.

Best curry I've had in Japan. Made from scratch with the best ingredients and with awesome prices. There's also a really impressive whisky selection. Kazma the owner and chef is one of the most legit guys I've met in this country. Good conversations as he speaks perfect english as well. I come to this place once a week as I live near it. If you are in Osaka visiting it is a must, and while you are on it take a stroll around the neighborhood so you can see the real Japan. Nishinari is such a cool place.

One of the best Japanese curries I've had. We got the beef. There are 3 options, beef, vegan, and mixed. They range from around 600 to 700 yen. Which is plenty affordable. The owner is really chill, speaks English great, and chatty. He makes you feel welcomed and the meal tastes better with the great conversation he provides. I highly recommend trying out this restaurant if you're in the area. It's probably one of the best around.

Curry is great and full of flavour at a reasonable price. Kaz is a great host and makes you feel right at home, my friend Saul had 5 curries in one sitting and is challenging others to beat that👍🏻

this place is boss. 5 seats and the best curry in the whole of japan. Kaz is a top lad. Give this place a visit and you will see my face on the wall for eating 5 curry’s. you are welcome to beat it!!

Warm cosy curry house with nice host who shared stories and had good chats about Japanese folklore. Even had gluten free options with their vegan curry dish. Definitely recommend.

This restaurant has great vegan curry. The chef let us try his plum wine which was smooth and delicious. Great conversations and learnt a lot about Curry from the chef.

Good food and the owner is really friendly. Nice environment to have a hot meal and a cold beer in addition to the great pricing. Worth coming here if one is ever craving a good curry dish.

Little cosy curry restaurant near the kareoke bars. Curry sauce was tasty and spicy however was hoping for more meat. Plenty of alcohol options including a decent sake selection. Owner was a wonderful guy who loved a good chat and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Best curry in Japan. Kaz is an absolute legend and both his vegan and spicy curries are delicious. Ask him for extra powder if you love a hotter curry and he’ll provide some of his house blend!

Fantastic curry (both the meat and vegan variety), rich deep tastes accompanied by a very friendly and talkative owner and a small cozy establishment. Keep an eye open since the area is slightly rough but dont let that deter you from visiting this awesome curry place!

My wife and I had an amazing time here at Yakumido. It’s a small restaurant with limited seats but the flavors of the curry are worth visiting. The curry options consist of beef, vegetable or a combination of both(I recommend trying both). Also, the owner was the best. He gave us local recommendations and made us feel at home. For those who don’t speak Japanese you have nothing to worry about because the owner speaks fluent English. I will recommend Yakumido to everyone who is in Osaka looking for delicious curry. I will be back! P.S. if you love drinking beer or whiskey the owner is very knowledgeable with both.

This is, by far, the best curry I’ve had on this trip to Osaka! The flavors were perfectly balanced and it went well with the whiskey that the chef recommended. He’s also a whiskey aficionado so he knows his whiskey. And don’t worry about not speaking Japanese, the chef speaks perfect English. He will even translate for you if you need it. I had a great time here and will definitely be coming back again. Thanks Kaz!

👍👍 Go to the basement floor which has all kinds of food stalls and specialty stores. Go there an hour before closing and most of the packaged food items will be discounted like 30% or Y300 off. It’s great deal for budget travel. They also have very good yogurt drinks and other bakery items.
