Rokko Cable Shita Station

Tourist attraction Mountain cable car

👍👍 VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU VISIT WHEN THE SKY IS CLEAR because otherwise there will be no view on top of the mountain. We visited when it was cloudy and it was just clouds everywhere. But also there’s less people around so we explored around the top via bus. If you visit around sunset apparently... People often mention cable, mountain, ride, station, view, visit, Arima, trip, Onsen,

VERY IMPORTANT: MAKE SURE YOU VISIT WHEN THE SKY IS CLEAR because otherwise there will be no view on top of the mountain. We visited when it was cloudy and it was just clouds everywhere. But also there’s less people around so we explored around the top via bus. If you visit around sunset apparently it’s very pretty and after sunset there’s a observatory with cool lights that open for a few hundred yen. If you want to get away from the populated cities for a while and breath some fresh air, this place is for you! There’s a bus from JR Rokkomichi station that takes you right to the base of the mountain. Head uphill and cross under the bridge and you’ll see the cable car stop. It’s 1k yen per person and there’s an option to buy a bus pass for the buses up on the mountain (actually pretty worth if you want to explore the whole place) Train ride up and down is very fun (like a slow roller coaster) and a different experience from all the city tourist spots in japan. It can get a bit chilly up the mountain so it’s good idea to bring a light jacket. There are restaurants and shops up there too that may open / close depending on weather. When we went the gift shops were closed because no one was around haha.

It is a beautiful station and it was a pleasure to ride the car up and down the mountain. The view was really nice and fun to watch. The staff are super nice and easy to approach for help. 😎✌️👍

Really good views at the top and a really fun cable car trip as well. Would definitely recommend a day so you can take the cable car to the top of the mountain, do activities there and then descend to Arima Onsen.

We had a really good experience. Everything worked out well and nothing went different from plan. The connection between the Gondola lift at the mountain top was smooth also. We went to the other side of My. Rokko, all the way to Arima Onsen. I would like to visit again and see other locations at the mountain top and Arima, as there is so much to see and do.

An easy ride funicular to/from the mountain to a parking lot below. Open air car (with roof) and a closed car with windows.

Fun adventure and a must experience when you visit Kobe. We brought one-way tickets for JPY 1,100 and after visiting the Observatory and lovely café there as the sun set, travelled onwards a few stops by bus to Arima Onsen cable station before taking that cable car onwards. Fantastic views as the sun was setting. Really nice to end up in Arima Onsen and be a short walk away from the station there, downhill to the main town area.

Nice and simple. Be sure to get there as early to avoid the crowd! Got there at around 10.30am. Not much of a crowd. Get the pass that comes with the bus. It is more worth it!

Timed it well for the last few rides up the mountain and enjoyed the sunset by luck. On our way down, beautiful night view of the surrounding city lights. A must visit if you are around Arima Onsen. Most hotels has free rides up and back to the cable car station.

The round trip ticket is 1080yens for an adult. The cashiers speak English. Don't miss the last cable car at 9pm. Make sure to stay seated during the ride!

It's stunning also with fog and on cloudy days. A must if you are in Kobe.

Be advised that when you get to the beginning of the cable journey you'll buy a one way ticket. There are great views as you go on this little day trip. But be advised that if you do not plan to go to the Onsen at the end of the trip you may need to buy another one way ticket back to the starting point.

The ride only takes 10 minutes. Tickets for Round trip is 1,100 yen. Ticket for round trip plus a free bus ride on a certain line is 1,500 yen. The bus ride goes in the opposite direction of Rokko san Bokujo. I have used the Cable car twice and the view is lovely. Minus all the spiders that are thankfully outside the ride.

The guide staff was really helpful and helped us decide our route and itinerary. Some of the buses only come once in an hour, so you need to plan your schedule accordingly if you want to visit several places in the mountain (farm, botanical garden, museum, garden terrace, etc) and still make it on time for the cable car to Arima onsen.

Amazing view at the top. Great experience for the ride. The connection bus from JR station to the cable station is convenient.

Fun ride but up top the view wasn’t that spectacular. We went during the day. Go at night maybe.

This is the station for the cable car to go up to Mt. The retro cable car is cute.
