Beautiful building but the entrance fee was not worth it. The art gallery was nothing special. Visit any of the other houses in the area instead.

Staff is polite and the house is objectively interesting both for domestic tourists and foreigners curious to see a European style XIX century house in the middle of Japan. But the price is quite notable compared to how much you actually get to see, and the souvenir shop doesn't accept credit cards below ¥1000. Also there's only one toilet (the whole area has very few public toilets due to its eccentricity and high altitude) and it's incredibly small and dense (but I still appreciate that it was there in the first place). You might want to ask yourself how badly you want to visit this place, especially if it entails a detour of some sort

Interesting place to visit on a rainy day. Kitano is such a special place in Kobe, feels just like walking trough Europe! (also: touch the statues nose for good fortune)

It's more expensive than other places (1050 yen), but it's got a lot to see and great quality. Nice house and art gallery, plus the sundaes in the shop were delicious. Get the matcha one for sure!

Quite nice but not sure if it is worth the entrance fee.

As mentioned by other reviewers the price ~7 euros is too steep for what's offered. If you have the chance try the Italian embassy in Nikko ("close" to Tokyo) instead. The building hear is too renovated in my opinion and any antique items are placed haphazardly creating a sense of detachment from the time period that the house aims to portray.

One of the best place to visit in Kitano-Ijinkan, I think. Here, you can also take picture with the wild boar statue which they believes could bring you the best luck. Also, here you can observe the scenery of Kobe city from the third floor. If you want, you can observe other buildings as it is a cafe, I think. I enter this place for free using the happy memory pass.

Solid little place, but probably not worth the price unless you get it as part of the package, or really enjoy this sort of thing. Its up quite a hill so keep that in mind if you plan on going

うろこの家 was an isle west of 山手八番馆. It was a beautiful castle-shaped house, covered in a natural stone called slate, making it resembled the scales of a fish. It also had a large square garden. The view here was great to overlook the city and harbour. However, the Observation Gallery next to it provided a much more vast overlook. People said eyesight could reach Osaka. There were many modern, Japanese painting exhibited on all floor. We sat for really a while on the top floor and felt the city and sunlight shed in—what a charming town.

A stunning piece of Japanese and European history, preserved beautifully. A worthwhile visit to any traveller.

A one of a kind museum. Outside the garden there is a wild boar statue. Rumor has it if you touch it's nose. Your wish will be granted and become true !

It is a nice gallery for art lovers, but the entry fee is high.
