Osaka Castle stands as a historic and iconic landmark in the heart of Osaka, Japan. With its grandeur and historical significance, it draws visitors from around the world to explore its storied past and captivating architecture. During my recent visit to Osaka Castle, I was awestruck by the impressive structure and its surrounding grounds. The castle's imposing appearance against the backdrop of the city skyline was truly a sight to behold. As I ventured through its meticulously preserved interiors, I gained a deeper understanding of its historical importance and the rich heritage of the region. The sprawling castle grounds offered a serene escape from the bustling city life. Strolling through the lush gardens, I enjoyed the tranquility and picturesque views of cherry blossoms and traditional Japanese landscapes. The panoramic vistas from the castle's observation deck were breathtaking, providing a panoramic view of Osaka's modern skyline juxtaposed with its historical charm. While visiting Osaka Castle, I also had the opportunity to learn about its role in Japan's history, particularly during the feudal era. The informative displays and exhibits within the castle complex provided insight into the lives of the samurai and nobility who once inhabited its walls. Overall, Osaka Castle is a must-visit destination for those interested in Japan's history, culture, and architectural marvels. Its grandeur and significance make it a captivating experience that offers a glimpse into Japan's rich past while providing a serene and picturesque escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

INSANELY CROWDED! Don’t bother about going into the castle, the queue is snaking long. We toured the exterior and walked along the canal to soak in the atmosphere and it was great! Will recommend tourist to come experience the vibes but can give the castle tour a miss.

The castle itself is super impressive. It's beautiful and can be seen from quite a distance away, making it feel very grand. The surrounding area of the castle is also really nice. On one side is a river/lake? That is lined with cherry blossom trees, and on the other is stalls filled with yummy food. The area gets very busy pretty quickly, so if you want to go up the castle (which I imagine is an impressive view), then it might be best to go earlier in the day.

Historical Place in Osaka – Is It Worth Visiting? I decided to challenge myself and visit Osaka Castle under the blazing sun on a super sunny day. The walk from the metro station to the castle took about 10 minutes, which was manageable. However, reaching the castle from the entrance itself required another 20 minutes, and I must emphasize again, be prepared for the scorching summer heat. A helpful tip: consider getting the ticket online, or you can even book it when you arrive at the castle, which costs around $5. This way, you can skip the line at the ticket vending machine. The castle boasts 7 stories, with the top floor offering a 360-degree view of Osaka. From that point, you can see the entire city. However, the walk path to the top is quite narrow, so be prepared for a crowd. On the lower levels, you'll discover Japanese national treasures, including craftsmanship of swordsman, paintings, and an Osaka map. All in all, visiting Osaka Castle can be a rewarding experience, especially if you're interested in history and cultural artifacts. Just make sure to plan ahead for the hot weather and consider purchasing tickets online to save time.

One of the prettiest imperial buildings in Japan. Its so well connected with the metro, reaching her is easy. The castle is beautiful to look at. They have a museum inside which gives you all the information. You can also buy souvenirs from the shops. I recommend booking tickets online before going as the queue to buy tickets there is long.

Amazing museum and beautiful panoramic view of the city. Take the stairs up to appreciate the different museum exhibits as you climb and reward yourself at the top with the city view. The museum is unlike other museums - it gives you a very focused view of history of Osaka castle and the major players involved at the time of Japan’s unification. It’s one of the best museums we’ve been to in regards to how it conveys the significance and importance of its history.

Osaka Castle, a historical gem nestled in the heart of Japan, captivates visitors with its majestic presence and rich cultural significance. Steeped in centuries of history, this iconic landmark stands as a testament to the resilience of Japanese architecture and the enduring spirit of the nation. Upon entering the castle grounds, one is immediately struck by the impressive stone walls and the intricately designed Nishinomaru Garden, creating a serene atmosphere that transports visitors to a bygone era. The main keep itself, a towering structure adorned with striking golden embellishments, is a marvel of craftsmanship that seamlessly blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with practical military design. Inside the castle, the comprehensive museum offers a compelling narrative of Osaka's history, providing valuable insights into the feudal era and the role the castle played in shaping the region. Exhibits showcase an array of artifacts, including samurai armor, weaponry, and historical documents, giving visitors a vivid glimpse into the past. The panoramic views from the castle's observation deck are breathtaking, offering a sweeping panorama of Osaka's skyline and the surrounding landscape. The experience is particularly enchanting during cherry blossom season when the castle is surrounded by a sea of pink blooms. While the castle is undeniably a must-visit for history enthusiasts, its allure extends beyond, appealing to anyone with an appreciation for architectural grandeur, cultural heritage, and the profound beauty of Japan's past. A visit to Osaka Castle is a journey through time, leaving an indelible impression that lingers in the hearts of those fortunate enough to explore its storied halls.

The largest castle in Japan, and a very impressive sight to behold. It’s white and green color stands out boldly in both blue skies and grey, and it is an excellent place for some photos. It’s definitely a must visit if in Osaka for any length of time. I personally recommend using Moriya station for easy access.

Osaka Castle is a beautiful and highly recommended landmark in the city. Actually, the is a place where you can enjoy a good view of the city from the castle. It is regarded as city’s main attraction. The castle is architecturally beautiful from outside than the inside. There is an adjacent park near the castle which is so beautiful and you can enjoy your time with family.

Amazing castle with a great museum and informational walk to accompany it. Even though it is not the original castle there are many many cool renderings inside the museum that shows how grand of a castle system it was in the past. The history of the castle is very well laid out and in English too with videos and dramatic clips to engross you in feudal Japan. The area around the castle is just beautiful and very accesible for all

The castle is absolutely gorgeous, something you will remember forever. The view from the top is also amazing. If you have time to stay and read and view all the history inside I would recommend it, but the inside is renovated to be a modern museum. so don't expect it to look like a castle on the inside if that's what you are looking for you won't get it here. If your are in more of a time crunch I would probably spend more time in the park and skip paying to go inside. Still a very beautiful and historic place to visit.

Beautiful area with plenty of history! I loved the bridges and the scenic walk to the castle. Overall I loved the museum experience and the view point so I definitely recommended however, the museum has a very modern feel to it. I was expecting an older traditional feel. We visited in summer and it was about 35 degrees which was quite exhausting. Recommend this place to all tourists and people in the area.

What an impressive structure!!! Worth the visit. I recommend getting entrance tickets of the castle at the garden gate. Cuts the queue at the castle. I also recommend taking the stairs up. One of Japan’s most iconic locations and indeed, one of its more impressive castles. Osaka castle is a must see for anyone visiting the city. Don’t make our mistake and buy your ticket online in advance so you can skip the majority of the line. It’s as of September 2023 less than 4 bucks per adult. Be sure to check out your group pricing if you’re coming with a crowd. Students are exempt from payment if they can present proof. Not sure if this applies only to Japanese students or those also studying abroad. Elevators and ramps available, so it is a lot more handicap friendly that some would initially assume. Stunning views from the top floor with some very interesting and unique gallery displays showcasing its art, history, and more. You will see some places indicating where you are not allowed to take photos. Restrooms available. Gifts shops at the top too!

If I would need to choose one word to describe Osaka castle I would use word- crowds. You need to stand in a queue to buy a ticket, for the elevator (my advice to take stairs), to see exhibition inside and even to get down. The castle keep is in fact a new built. It is not so much historical and have limited amount of artefacts. For whatever reason you cannot take pictures on floor 3/4. The territory of the castle is quite impressive and really worth visiting.

Osaka Castle, a historical marvel, captivated me during my visit to Osaka from Pakistan. As a history enthusiast, exploring this well-preserved landmark managed by the government was truly fascinating. The castle stands as a testament to Japan's rich heritage, and its meticulous preservation allows visitors to delve into the past, experiencing the grandeur of bygone eras.

The castle is standing tall and magnificent in the middle of the city of Osaka. One of the most grandeur view I had ever seen. Takes quite a walk from the park entrance to reach the castle, make it an uphill walk at that, but it's very much rewarding when you reach the castle.

This is probably one of the main landmarks in Osaka. The space of the park is very large and the environment is so refreshing. There are some restuarants and souvenir shops as well. I visited here during a sunny winter day. I think spring is the best time to visit the castle.

One of the most famous Japanese castle. This castle contains 2 major parts, the museum that display the history of the castle and the observatory deck on the top floor. Although the castle is not very tall, you can still have a good view for the Osaka park and the city around it.

An iconic representation of Japanese history, Osaka Castle stands boldly amid the bustling cityscape, luring tourists in with its fascinating history and stunning architecture. With a history spanning centuries, the castle is a remarkable representation of Japan's feudal past and provides an intriguing window into the rich cultural legacy of the nation. You enter a realm where the past and present collide as soon as you set foot on the castle grounds. The striking building radiates strength and grandeur with its towering towers and gorgeous exterior. Reaching the higher floors offers you amazing all-encompassing vistas of Osaka that let you take in the city's modern cityscape as well as its old-world charm. Within the castle, educational displays and relics take you on a historical journey through the ages, telling the story of feudal lords, wars, and Japan's development. Beautifully detailed recreation of the historic castle. This modern update has elevators, which is great for those who may have missed out on places like Matsumoto castle. There are multiple shops and multiple museum displays on various floors. Take your time. If it gets too crowded, try going to one of the floors with an open deck for fresh air and breathtaking views of the city. Buy tickets in advance.

Osaka castle is a really great landmark to visit when in Osaka. I went in the morning which worked out great for lines. Tickets are not hard to purchase through a machine on site. You can take the elevator and stairs through multiple floors of the castle and read a lot about the near by history of the area. The top floor has a great panoramic view of the surrounding city which is beautiful. The castle itself has a gift shop and a stamp to stamp your note book.

Very nice Japanese tradition castle. Amazing architecture, this castle located less than 10mns walk from the subway station. Very clean and well organized, staffs were helpful and friendly. To walk the whole castle it took me around 45mns, since there are 5 floors to cover.

The surroundings are good, but it's not worth paying for a ticket to go in. Inside is not really what you would expect a castle to look like. It's just galleries you would see at museums. If you are that interested in history, you might want to check it out but I was unimpressed. The view from the top is okay but again, not worth the wait and crowd. Instead, just walk around the park and maybe take the road train as I did! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Osaka. And you can see most of it without needing to go up to the castle tower. The place is very well maintained, and great for walking around and soaking in local scenery and nature. There are lots of great spots for picnic too, which the locals take full advantage of. The easiest landmark to remember is the natural history museum. The park is a 3 minute walk from there. All in all, great place to visit, especially when the weather is good, and even more so during the cherry blossom season.

For me, this was much more than a check the box experience in Japan. To really immerse yourself in what Osaka Castle has to offer, make this a single outing for the day to see as much as possible and go deep into the details of the history of this place. In Western Civilization, much time is spent on Europe in the Middle Ages, here is an open door into Japan's history. Take advantage of the audio player available in the castle, English language available, and listen to each segment on each floor of the castle. There is rich history to learn and understand about Japan and the story behind the castle. Inside and outside the castle, this place can be enjoyed for hours.

My 3rd visit here in 10 years and always a good experience. I've visited in winter, spring, and now summer, and all 3 seasons give a very different experience. Now I need to come back for autumn 🍂. This summer in 2023, or was around 37°, but the blue skies and white puffy clouds made the photos look awesome. Despite the extra hot summer, there were hoards of tourists, mainly from China. Overall, I spent about 2 hours here, and because of the weather & long entrance line, I didn't go into the castle.

An absolutely enchanting and fantastic place in the middle of this wonderful city. Do well maintained and easy to walk around. Now on a sunny day it was a real delight. The castle is breathtaking, as is the garden surrounding, especially the trees. Surprisingly, the greatest feeling came from standing at the south eastern corner at the top of the castle where I noticed a field of grass below and the wind caused the grass to move like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I spent nearly an hour watching it and realized why a poetic soul is so prominent in Japanese culture. The grass moved like water and the only sounds up there were the crows.

It was busy but if you buy ticket online is quicker because there is no wait line to get inside. There is 8 level floor. There is a long lineup for using the elevator to go up. Some people don't look at sign direction. Which make it hard to move around in one direction for the exhibition. I had to do skip and do 2 lap per floor just to understand the story of this whole exhibition experiences. Because some people like to go the opposite direction when some floor has one direction traffic walk. The view is nice inside and outside. Outside is big enough with the crowd but inside the castle it is crowded expect to maneuver around on per floor.

Scenery was really lovely, not too long of a walk, we came here during the late afternoon to evening, enjoyed a meal there while we waited for the sun to set to get some good pictures. Beautiful on the outside and you pay nothing to visit the garden. You pay to visit the castle from the inside, it costs 600 yen per person, and gives access from the first to the top floor. At the top there is a view of the surroundings and you can see the famous fish syrups that decorate the roof, (the syrups serve as fire protection, we know that fish live in the water, and because they are on the roof, they believe that everything below also be in the water). On the floors below, there is a museum that tells a little about the history of the place. There are several areas where you cannot take pictures. Those who have difficulty walking can take a “train” that takes them from the street entrance to the castle entrance. There is also a boat ride on the lake that surrounds the place. Get ready for crowds, even visiting during the week and in low season......

(Translated by Google) I stopped by during my trip around Japan. Osaka Castle Park is very large and fun, and the appearance of the castle tower looks great! I also visited castles around the world ... It's definitely the largest castle park! ★ You can add 5 but ... It's disappointing when you enter the castle tower. The interior is like entering an exhibition room in some building. I entered the castle tower several decades ago ... As long as the taste disappeared and I was lonely. The castle tower is viewed from the outside ... We recommend that you do not enter without paying the entrance fee of 600 yen. It is a tourist spot around Japan, and the inside of the castle tower has definitely become one of the three major disappointing spots. The parking lot is 350 yen for 60 minutes and is on the way from Morinomiya Station to Osakajokoen Station. It will take about 30 minutes to walk from the parking lot to the castle tower. An absolutely gorgeous castle and the grounds around were impressive. I had to the good fortune that it was cherry blossom time. Nishinomaru Garden is on the west side and it has about 600 cherry trees as well as a tea house. I would suggest getting there early as there are long lines to get to the top because the view is stunning.

One of my favourite castles in Japan. It's quite large and the there are a lot of important historical aspects that I found fascinating. There wasn't a huge line up during the workday about 10-15 mins so if you're going in the workweek I'd just get tickets at the gates. Also buy a stamp book as a lot of shrines and castles and train stations have their own unique stamps that you can collect.

The Osaka castle has incredible views and has 8 floors you can walk up filled with the history of the castle and area. Beautiful set out and air conditioned on floors 4 and 5 for special artifacts. There is a lift to floor 5. There were allot of people when we went but the line up went quickly. We spent just over an hour there. You can listen to a portable tour guide - not sure if it was in English, but there are written descriptions of everything. We enjoyed this castle.

A great historical museum that is a must visit while in Osaka. A few warnings beforehand: Buy the tickets online to skip the massive queue! Also, be aware that the castle itself is quite a walk from the nearby stations (10-20 minutes walk). Other than that, the castle is super informative and interesting. At the top, you get a 360 view of the city! P.s., you are not allowed to take photos in the castle!

We been here before 16 years ago in 2007 but only took pictures from outside. We able to went in today, luckily with Amazing Osaka Pass we don't need to q to get tickets. It's very crowded inside, we went above the Observatory deck, can get good view of Osaka but hot. Inside the castle, it has historic monuments and explanation of Osaka Castle's beginning and destruction and reconstruction. Worth visiting at least once if coming to Osaka but it can be very hot during summer.

Loved it, so unique and special to Osaka. It’s obviously been rebuilt three times and it had been renovated to be a museum inside but it’s still older than many places in America. I loved the artifacts in the museum inside especially so but a ticket online in advance to ship the long lines. It’s a bit of a walk to get to so wear good walking shoes.

It was my first time at the beautiful Osaka Castle. The entire place was truly stunning and beautiful. There were so many things to see in and around Osaka Castle. You could get tickets to go inside Osaka Castle, and go all the way up to the top to see the view all around. It was so magical. They also have gift shops, clothing shops and restaurants to eat at. I would definitely recommend seeing this amazing Castle in Osaka. Five out five.

The grand multi storey castle in Osaka that's the must-see historical attraction in Osaka. Ticket prices are cheap, making it not an issue, but it's recommended you buy your tickets online first to avoid the ticket line and go straight to the entry line. Once you enter, you take the lift up and make your way to the viewing floor for views around Osaka before making your way down through the floors to see the exhibits reading and watching videos on the history of the castle, and then relics from the past. Note that you aren't permitted to take photos of the relics on a couple of the floors. Once you finish with the castle, you can explore the nearby gardens if you have time.

Visited here on my first day in Osaka. The gardens and surroundings of the castle are beautifully and you could spend over an hour or so there. We didn’t go in the castle itself as the queue was very big. We still got stunning views from inside the castle walls. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful castle with a rich history behind it. The surrounding gardens were simply gorgeous with the autumn leaves - it’s perfect for a midday stroll. The castle itself is extremely informative as it highlighted the history of the emperor, and also showcased the war during the Edo period. I am very impressed! Also, there’s a viewing platform at the top floor with a nice view, so that’s a nice touch as well

It is such a cool castle! You will encounter the normal tourist and field trip crowds unless you arrive early. Walk around the gardens and the castle itself. Watch the preschool lines waddle to and fro. Take time to stop and take pictures of the butterflies and Instagram worthy photos. Do it for the gram!

The place, from the outside, is remarkable. There is a lot of history and splendor to absorb on the walk into the castle grounds. We decided to skip the castle interior due to the large crowd around noon. The wait wouldn't be long, but it would have been too densely packed with tourists imo. You should arrive very early if you'd like to see inside the castle comfortably. Certainly recommend visiting, don't force yourself to squeeze inside if it's so busy.

Osaka Castle is a captivating historical landmark with a majestic presence. The architecture is impressive, reflecting Japanese heritage. The surrounding park and gardens offer a serene escape, perfect for a leisurely stroll. Inside, the museum provides insightful exhibits about the castle's history. While the interior may be less grand than the exterior, the panoramic views from the top floor are rewarding. Overall, Osaka Castle is a must-visit for history enthusiasts and those seeking a glimpse into Japan's rich cultural heritage.

Osaka Castle is located in the center of Osaka, and many Japanese people visit there for sightseeing and cherry blossoms viewing. A military commander, Hideyoshi Toyotomi built an impregnable castle to show his power and status and to unify the nation in 1583. It was golden glittering form, glorious and magnificent. However, after Hideyoshi' death, his political control was deprived by Generalissimo, Ieyasu Tokugawa, and the castle fell during the Summer War in 1615. Even though the second Tokugawa's generalissimo had reconstructed the castle in 1630, the Main Tower was destroyed by lightning strike only 35 years later. Finally in 1931, Osaka public efforts and enthusiasm made the construction of the Main Tower come true. So the castle looks modern now and the inside of the castle is operated as a museum. But do not disappoint, there are still interesting displays in the castle. At the observation deck, you can look Osaka's nice view with Shachigawara, "Roof tile in the form of a legendary killer whale." A pair of golden shachi-gawara embellished the top roof of the main tower of Osaka Castle. The museum has miniatures of hot fighting "The Summer War of Osaka" 1/20 scale. At this time, we already had guns, but many warriors fought with spears. Osaka Castle has some mysteries. 1. There is a deep well just in front of the castle, and it is said that golden nuggets are sunk by Hideyoshi Toyotomi, however, they have not been discovered yet... try looking into the well! 2. It is said that the castle has a secret underground passage. 3. In front of the Sakura Gate, you can see a giant rock, Tako (octopus) stone. It is amazing that people in 400 years ago could cut and bring such a big stone here. Furthermore, look at the left side... Can you see some creature? Yes, it is an octopus! It is more clear when you look on the rainy day. Interesting?

Whenever visiting Osaka like visiting other cities, elsewhere in the world, there are always places of interest that become instant favorites regardless of how many times it’s been visited once before. Call it habit but, this is one spot in the city that is a prime example of a real crowd-pleaser! Whether it was during the summertime months sweltering the ‘super dry’ heatwaves throughout the country, or, in the midst of a downpour in November or January—getting inside is the real challenge for most tourists. The lines start at the very bottom of the foundation. And wind upwards zigzagging through the rougher stone-hewn steps leading up to the main courtyard. Even there, forms another line going into the building prior to having a ticket in hand once inside. The lines are traveling in two directions simultaneously. Those headed into the castle up to the top, and those, headed down from the upper floors. What’s nice about being indoors is the climatization once there. Yes, it is fully crowded here with lots of schoolchildren, families, and tourists from just about everywhere in Japan and beyond. The attractions inside the castle are fascinating. Historically once a working royal residence then decommissioned and refurbished to accommodate visitors as a city museum and national landmark. Of many many great places to find and discover in Osaka is this national treasure. The gift shop offers all types of keepsakes and momentous souvenirs for all ages, and it’s always good to come back to from time to time. A nice way to spend the day with others doing the same thing too. Always an enjoyable time.

This is probably one of the main landmarks in Osaka. The space of the park is very large and the environment is so refreshing. There are some restuarants and souvenir shops as well. We visited here during a sunny winter day. I think spring is the best time to visit the castle. They charge for 600 yen for a single entry which is definitely a worth for it . The location is greenery and calm area . It is very famous place whenever you visit Osaka you must visit here . Highly recommended place . Go for it .

Was a very enjoyable experience. Only $5 USD to enter and kids are free. Starts with an observation terrace on level 8 with exceptional views. Then you continue walking down, reading the history, and ending with a souvenir shop. Only wish there was more preservation of the inside, as it's very modernized. Enjoy walking around the park after as there is plenty more to see.

Last day in Japan, and got to visit such a lovely place. I liked it quite a lot, but didn't love it. I would recommend going if you are visiting Osaka to view this unique structure. I was a tiny bit disappointed that the inside was just the museum, and that you couldn't view any of the original/replicated interior design. The view from the top is quite special, though. You can buy tickets at the ticket booths when you get there, so no need to buy any online in advance.

A beautiful must-see in Osaka. The castle is gorgeous and entry is relatively cheap. Good air-conditioning inside is great during the very hot summers, and English explanations are available in de Tower, however there are some grammatically incorrect places. The waiting line is a bit long which can get tedious in hot weather since there is barely any cover. The view from the top is amazing! Worth it in my opinion

The castle is magnificent. We went during a hot summer day and the heat can be quite challenging but there is shade spots and inside the castle itself is air conditioned. I was surprised to see the castle grounds were very unkempt; the gardens had weeds everywhere and the lawns needed mowing. Usually Japanese landmarks are well cared for but these gardens felt a bit neglected. The castle was good though, very busy with tourists but that’s to be expected.

Lots of walking in extremely hot & humid temperatures, but a few misting stations were available as well as refreshment booths with food, cold beverages, and even shaved ice ~ yummy!! There were 2 trains with a roof provided so you could take a break from the sun in order to tour the castle grounds. Also, there was a covered boat ride around the moat. And of course there were lots and lots of Japan's famous vending machines with drinks and frozen ice cream treats! The lines were long, especially to go inside the beautiful castle. But the grounds have beautiful paved walkways with lovely flowers and many, many trees including cherry trees which must be absolutely gorgeous in the spring!

It was nice, long line.... there is a handicappable elevator. LOT of stairs, and a mister for the hot weather. You are able to purchase a 2 ride tickets to go all the way from the park entrance to the castle entrance and then back so you don't have to walk. I was able to get a seal stamp once inside of the castle, right as you come in. ITS BY THE DESK TO THE LEFT. Very GREAT VIEW..... we used our Amazing pass we got from the travel center IN OSAKA to enter. YOU can also purchase a coin and souvenirs there at the castle.

Wow is the word beautiful castle that sits in the middle of a lake where you can take a boat ride around the castle. The castle itself is stunning you can walk around the levels (which has lots of information) right up to the top for spectator views. Well worth a visit.

A wonderful experience when in Osaka. There is a park train that you can purchase tickets to ride up to the entrance of the castle. It will save you about a 20 minute walk from the subway station. The castle itself will leave you speechless. Pictures do not do it justice, especially its size. Quite a long queue to purchase tickets to go up to the tower. Was informed by security that strollers would have to be parked at the base of the castle and children carried up the stairs. A lot of tour groups and student groups to contend with while exploring the castle grounds. Nonetheless, a must visit in Osaka.

Definitely an amazing place to stop by, witness in all its glory , enjoy what it has to offer before you head out to other places in Osaka for a visit. You start the walk off from the entrance , walk pass a couple of gates ( there is an entrance to the gardens on the left which we decided to skip on the way to castle ) and then pass the cafeteria ( food building) you get to the line where you would be able to buy tickets and eventually enter the castle. Once done buying tickets through the kiosk or the counter ( if you had a JR pass you are expedited to the counter line from the kiosk line ) you sand the QR code in your tickets and head into the castle stairs. Going up you get to choose between stairs or elevators and from there onwards there are 4 floors of history and rich heritage followed by some great experiences that are shown along display units on the higher floors. Eventually you get to the observation deck and get an amazing view of surrounding Osaka city , the moat around the castle , the lovely garden and so on. Definitely a gem from history that needs a visit when you happen to be in Osaka!! Pro tip: Having a JR pass helps as you can bypass the waiting line to the castle entrance and tickets.

Osaka Castle (大阪城) stands as an awe-inspiring testament to Japan's rich and storied past. As a rebuilt castle, it carries a profound historical significance that attracts visitors from all walks of life. Located in the heart of Osaka, this iconic landmark played a pivotal role in marking the end of the civil war and heralding the beginning of the Tokugawa era.

Osaka castle was soooo beautiful. We didn’t tour inside but just roamed around the castle. It’s really scenic and would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re looking for a good sightseeing spot. Great place to take photos! It was a bit cloudy and thunderstorm-y when we went, but still managed to tour around the castle without getting rained on. We went around 5pm so it wasn’t that busy which was great for us!

Beautiful grounds and the castle is a museum as well. The museum has 8 floors and its kind of hard for elderly to make it up. They have a elevator that goes to the 5th floor but there is a long wait for it. You buy the tickets at the castle museum entrance. They have both kiosk and people selling tickets. Highly recommend!!

The Osaka Castle is a tourist attraction, but was built here to be hard to access when it used to be an actual castle. Nowadays, you can go up to the very top, and there are some exhibitions on every floor that contain some pretty unique artifacts. You can also take the elevator to the fifth floor if you wanted to skip the exhibitions. I recommend buying an electronic ticket to skip the line! Also, you could take the park train that stops close to the metro station if you don’t want to walk 20 minutes

The park was lovely even in light rain. The overall atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The castle was very beautiful and impressive from the outside alone. There was a bit of a queue for the tickets but it moved at a decent pace. (¥ 600 for adults, free for under 15) The current exhibition inside was very nice with very impressive historical archives and objects. The only downside was that it was quite crowded inside (I went on a Sunday) so it was a bit hard to see some things or to take the time to read the explanations. It’s also worth going all the way to the top to go to the lookout :)

Nice experience to the Osaka castle with huge garden and nice views. Highest floor grants you the fantastic view to the city. Very crowded even during weekdays. The outside surrounding is free to visit however inside requires entrance fee which you'll be facing some queues before entering. There will be some wait at the elevator as well. Suggest to use the Osaka amazing pass to have a seamless experience as you can bypass the queues for purchasing the ticket. History were explained inside the museum about the castle itself and its rebuilds.

This castle was very majestic. The gold accents with the cream and green were gorgeous. The walls and moat around the castle were gigantic. The views from the 8th floor were beautiful. I’d recommend buying your tickets online to avoid waiting in line. We also took the steps instead of the elevator to avoid waiting in that line too. It is 8 stories up but you can stop on each level if you want to checkout the exhibits.

A visit to Osaka wouldn't be complete if you don't visit Osaka castle. A magnificent castle that houses part of Japan's history. Very accessible from the train station. You need to walk around the park to get into the main castle. At the top floor, you'll get a 360 degree view of the entire land around the castle. Food stalls are also available around 200-300 meters from the castle. Great experience!!

Osaka Castle is almost on everyone list that visit Osaka. As such, this is a really crowded tourist spot. I highly recommend that you purchase a ticket in advance. Other than the wonderful scenery at the top, I also recommend visiting the gallery in the various floor which share the rich history of the site.

Visited on a Thursday morning which was fairly crowded but not chaotic. There was still a 15/20min queue for tickets and to enter the Castle. I can imagine it being chaotic later in the afternoons and at weekends especially. Tickets were ¥600 for Adults. You can also use any JR Rail Pass for free entry along with some other City Passes which cover entry to the Castle. Card & Cash also accepted. Klook also sell tickets. Passes let you skip the regular ticket queue which is helpful as a time-saver. Especially with kids. Once inside the Castle taking the stairs was easily the quickest and best way to see each floor. Quite steep in parts bit cuts past queues for the lift/elevator. Each floor has different exhibitions, displays and information covering the eras and timeline of Osaka Castle, including its construction, rebuilds and inhabitants. Really interesting and worth seeing! I loved all of the artifacts and useful information provided in Japanese and English. View from the top floor was incredible also. Enjoy!

Looks quite amazing to be honest. Big castle that tells the history of the area and how it was build. I recommend you come and if you have the Osaka pass it is included. You can ride an elevator, but there was a long queue when we were there so we took the stairs. The view you get from the top of the castle is quite good

Historical yet one of a masterpiece located in Osaka. If you want to hang around the park, you do not have to pay a single penny. But if you want to go to observation deck in the rooftop of the castle or enter one of the iconic park, there is an entrance fee. The price for kids is half than adult price When I went there, I just stroll around the free park but it was very good experience tho. There are many spot to take a good photo of Osaka Castle. Furthermore, from what I’ve experienced, I didn’t see any food stall here, just a line of drinking vending machine and benches to rest your leg a little bit Make sure to visit this spot to see one of the most beautiful castle in Japan

It was a nice little visit. It's the end of February and the plum garden was nice. The actual castle looks nice from the outside. The inside was not what I expected. They renovated into a museum. I was hoping to see the actual inside of the castle. The best part was the top floor where it is open. You don't have to go in if you are not into the museum vibe.
