This place is actually a big market with lots of shopping areas, restaurants and streetfoods. It looks like a chinatown or Hongkonv night market. And so, we had a hard time searching this glico sign which ive never thought that its not too big like what im seeing in some videos and photos online hahha. It was nice cause there are areas or spots intended for the tourist to capture some photos in it.

Superb! Recommend going with a friend so he/she can take a photo of you. It's super crowded but worth it. Also recommend going at night as the Glico sign lights up. Look up the history when you go so you know why this is a hit!

It's by the river, so people can also take photos with the river as their background. Probably much nicer to take photos at night.

This is THE must-visit spot in Osaka! The vibrant neon lights and bustling atmosphere make it an exciting place to explore. Even in the day the place is super crowded. Their takoyaki and other street food offerings are superbly tempting and delicious. Don't miss the iconic Glico running man sign, perfect for a memorable photo. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Osaka

Visit during the nighttime as the lit neon signs in the area bring a lively atmosphere. Lots of people taking photos on the Dotonbori Bridge but there is good photo spot as well below it. Tons of eating opportunities to be had in the area. There is also a mega Don Quijote nearby which we didn’t bother to go to as the tax-free line was crazy long.

This is probably the center of Dotonbori area. Arguably the most iconic symbol of Osaka with the famous Glicoman sign .. however there are streets of other quite interesting signs and store fronts which makes up the attractiveness of the area. Besides countless shops , shopping areas , there are tons of restaurants and arcades , gaming buildings etc. It literally comes alive at night and till late. Highly recommended to get the Osaka vibe.

A famous tourist attractions where tourists mimicked the posture of the glico guy. The Glico running man is one of the most well known landmarks in Osaka. This huge brightly lit sign has glowed over the Dotombori canal in Osaka’s premier shopping and entertainment district for more than 80 years. The running man advertises Glico, the manufacturer of one of Asia’s most famous confectionery companies. Glico’s most popular product is Pocky, which is the confectionery coated pretzel sticks which are very popular in Japan and abroad. I have to say it is a fantastic marketing that became a must visit if first time in Osaka. You cannot tell people you been to Osaka without taking a picture with this Glico poster. Have fun doing the same posture!

A must-see ritual for any visitors to Osaka. This iconic giant billboard was installed in 1935 as an advertisement for the Glico confectionery company. Since then, it has grown into a famous landmark in Osaka city. Definitely worth the visit, especially when night falls where the neon lights greet your eyes!

This place seemed to be the authentic place for Osaka tourist hub. Many people were gathered around this area, taking pictures or just simply take a sit and observing the magnificent of Osaka. If you want, you can also use the boat or small ship to explore the river or viaduct of this area. Probably, you will find out that this place would be a bit occupied during holiday season.

The hub for tourists when visiting Osaka. You will find many colourful and unique signs. So many food opinions that you leave this place with a full stomach and still haven't tried all of them. If you're tired, you can sit at the river side and enjoy the night view of the street.

Iconic area with tons of great people watching! It’s right at the end of a fabulous shopping street, the view of the canal is fun amidst the city lights, and it’s right near a huge street with endless okonomiake, crab, Korean bbq… (and on and on..) options! When I was there it was crowded on the bridge but less people were down closer to the water level :)

Kitchen of Japan where there are tons of food options along with Don Quijote where there are lots of items for sale cheaply. With the lifting of Covid restrictions the Glico man sign is teeming with tourists though, even on weekdays during my visit (Dec 2023) For example, the queue for takoyaki at Creo Ru was a good 30 min. Still, as it was a holiday and our hotel was nearby, still queued for our doughy balls of happiness. Definitely worth a visit if its your first time in Osaka to see what the hype is all about since the Glico sign is representative of Osaka in social media.

Probably the most popular and well known landmarks of the area, this signage has stood the test of time (over 70 years) there and became a hot spot for visitors, especially tourists to come and take photos with it and with the same posture! In our recent revisit to Osaka, we also came back here to take photos with it and it's good to be back here!

Dotombori one of the landmark Osaka, a must see for all visitors. Great night view along the river, and shopping place for souvenirs and great dining places. You will get to see many tourist & local like in this place soaking in the shopping areas. Day time is as busy as well filled with busy shoppers.

Pretty cool attraction to go see! Reminds me of NYC Times Square almost. The night I went it unfortunately was not lit up. I think it may have been because of the rain.

Iconic landmark in Osaka, there's something mesmerizing and captivating about it lit up at night. Obviously a must-see when traveling the area, crowds arent too bad early morning, but best time for a picture is at night. There's a little shop and staircase opposite the sign with an area for a photo oppotunity, worth waiting in the line if you don't want the crowds in your picture. Was also there on New Years Eve 2023, grab a few drinks from Lawson and post up on the canal for an entertaining show of random people diving into the canal. A lasting memory for sure.

A very famous place in Osaka, It is in Dotonbori. It can be very busy here so be prepared for that. The best time to go to this place is during the night when all the signs and lights are lit up. There are many restaurants near by and plenty of bars.

Great place for memorable photo of your trip, as it is one of the most popular signs in that area with snacks and stores based on it. As he stands for one of Japan’s famous confectionary stores. By the river everything seems just much better in terms of scenery wise

After spending time in Tokyo and Kyoto, we went to Osaka. Our first reaction was like : "Is it really Japan ??" We were located in an Hotel right next Dotonbori. The vibes here are insanely good but is quite different from Tokyo. It's noisy, you will sometimes see people smoking in the street.

  • 5/5 Angelica C. 4 months ago on Google
It was crowded when I went and the sign is much smaller than it seems in photos. But the area has lots of fun things to look at! There’s stores and food stalls everywhere.

  • 4/5 Miles L. 6 months ago on Google
When we arrived, this sign was not crowded, but days later, every time we pass by, morning and night, the place is full of people trying to get their picture in this famous sign in Dotonbori. So I guess, when you are in the area, you should take snap shots of this famous sign. Just look around as there will be areas where you can take the best shots.

An iconic and illuminated billboard featuring a runner crossing a finish line, promoting Glico, a Japanese confectionery company. It's one of the most recognizable landmarks in Osaka and a symbol of Dotonbori. The sign is especially stunning when lit up at night, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere in the district.

Clouded restaurants near Dotonbori Glico sign, it would be better if you make a reservation. The famous crab restaurant has no available seat without reservation.

Very touristy attraction!! Fine for taking pictures and videos. Crowded too. Other than that no biggie. But if you are a first timer go for it. It's the experience. The shops and restaurants are plentiful around there.

Since it’s a crossing, the area is wide enough for all tourists who wanna take their signature Glico pose photo. Lots of busking here too so it’s all around entertaining. Bonus Ninomiya for those who are fans!
