It is one of the seven slopes of Tennoji and was named because the slope looked like a snake. In the middle of the slope there is a monument marking the site of the former Yuhigaoka Girls' High School, and at the top of the hill there is a monument with a passage from Sakunosuke Oda's novel ``The City of Trees'' written on it, which beautifully captures the atmosphere and emotion of Kuchinawazaka. There is. By the way, Sakunosuke Oda is a graduate of Takatsu High School. I would like the students of Yuhigaoka High School and Takatsu High School to visit this place.

There was a cat 🐱, there was a Jizo statue, and a literary monument to Sakunosuke Oda, so I thought this was my favorite slope among the seven slopes on Kamimachi Plateau, and it was the one that had the most traces of the past. This time I visited in the evening, and as the name of the place suggests, the sunset was beautiful 😌 It seems like in the past you could even see the ocean from here, and I thought, ``It must have been a really beautiful view.''

``Kuchinawa'' is pronounced as slope. Kuchinawa is a snake. Osaka has the image of being completely flat, but it actually has slopes that give it an atmosphere like this. The area around Yuhigaoka along Tanimachisuji on Kamimachi Plateau has steep slopes continuing to the west, and there are many named slopes. It is called "Nanasaka of Tennoji" from the north Shingonzaka Genshojizaka Kuchinawazaka Aizenzaka Kiyomizuzaka Tenjinzaka Osaka There are many sights to see around the slope, and I don't think you could cover all of them in one day. Moreover, there is Ikunitama Shrine at the northern end, and Shitennoji and Isshinji at the southern end. I think it would be more realistic to visit the area in two parts: the northern half and the southern half. Among them, Kuchinawazaka is a beautiful slope with an atmosphere that makes you feel like you are in a movie. To the left of the starting point for going down Kuchinawazaka, there is a stone monument with a passage in Sakunosuke Oda's novel where this slope appears. There is also a statue of Sakunosuke Oda on the grounds of Ikunitama Shrine, about a 15 minute walk north of here. Don't miss both

Tennoji Nanazaka are seven slopes with historical value located on the west side of Uemachi Plateau in the center of Osaka City. The third one counting from the north is Kuchinawazaka. Kuchinawa means ``snake'', and when you look up at the slope from below, it looks like the belly of a snake, which is why it came to be called Kuchinawa-zaka, but maybe it's just my lack of imagination. Unfortunately, I didn't feel much of a snake when I actually walked around. (Sweat) Near the exit of the slope, there is a literary monument written by Sakunosuke Oda, inscribed with a story about his work, ``The City of Trees.'' If you go up from the Matsuyamachi-suji side, there are stone monuments and signboards, so you can easily find it, but if you go up from the Tanimachi-suji side, there are no information boards, so it's hard to know which way to take. If you are coming from the Tanimachi-suji side, it would be a good idea to head towards the back of the road, using the road with a temple called Taiheiji and a green signboard (?) that says ``Jusan Shrine'' as a landmark.

Kuchinawa refers to a snake. There is a legend that the undulations of the slope from Zenryu-ji Temple to Namei-ji Temple resemble a snake. One of the slopes called Tennoji Nanazaka. You'd think there would be six left, but that's not the case. There are actually eight slopes. These are Shingonzaka, Kiyomizuzaka, Genshojizaka, Aizenzaka, Tenjinzaka, Aisaka, and Shimoderazaka. By the way, there is a shrine (Jizodo) halfway up the slope. (I couldn't take pictures inside the lattice due to poor footing.) The stone pillar next to it is a mystery. ``Rakutenchi'' was founded by a playboy's grandfather who came from the countryside to Matsuyamachi (pronounced ma-cha-machi) to purchase toys for Osaka. I've heard that it was an entertainment facility for movies and other things that used to exist in front of Sennichimae. I also heard that it was around the time my late father was born (1930?). So, what is "Yajima Yoshokuten"? Does it have something to do with Sakunosuke Oda, who was a foodie? I don't think there will be a Western restaurant in the middle of the hill... 2023.4.14 Succeeded in shooting from Matsuyamachisuji. Climb from next to Shomyoji Temple. There are various temples and monuments along the way. At a monument that says that the predecessor of Yuhigaoka High School was located in this area, I turned back and headed towards Gakuenzaka.

Tennoji Nanazaka. A slope that extends from east to west from Shimoderamachi 2-chome in Tennoji Ward to Yuhigaoka-cho. The east side is connected to Tanimachi-suji, and the west side is connected to Matsuyamachi-suji. Kuchinawa is an unfamiliar word, but it refers to a snake in an old Osaka word. It was so named because when you look at the road from the bottom of the hill, the undulations resemble a snake. It is said to be the slope that Osaka-born writer Sakunosuke Oda loved most.

Morning walk started during the coronavirus pandemic Strolling around the Tennoji Plateau... Many historic areas especially The west side of the plateau is a downhill slope to Matsuyamachisuji. The old slope from Sennichimae Dori to the west gate of Shitennoji Temple It is called ``Tennoji Nanazaka''. This is Kuchinawazaka. It's fun to hear the name After the rain today The step-like slope also shines brightly. As you descend from the top of the plateau, looking out at both sides of the slope, you can also feel the atmosphere of a temple town as you can smell the faint scent of incense sticks. Early in the morning when there are few people... I recommend walking alone.

(Translated by Google) One of Tennoji Nanasaka. It ’s a steep stone stairs and a rocky slope. In the Kansai region, snakes are called lanterns. It is said that this name was given because the gentle slope looks like a snake.

Kuchinawazaka because it looks like a snake undulating Come to think of it, I learned that snakes are also called Kuchinawa when a thief named Heijuro the Snake (Kuchinawa) appeared in Onihei Hankachō.

A narrow path on the quaint Yuhigaoka side of Shitennoji-mae. The view from the bottom of Kuchinawa Hill is likened to the belly of a snake, and the cobblestone pavement after the rain is beautiful and atmospheric.

Beautiful Kuchinawazaka A mysterious place that gives you a glimpse of people's lives On this day as well, two people who appeared to be a married couple were slowly walking down the slope while resting, and I saw them everywhere they went.Saku Oda and Ryo Shiba must have felt something about this slope.Saku Oda at the bottom of the slope The wind blows in my heart as I read the literary monuments of I feel like the trajectory of the people who loved this hill can be separated from everyday life.
