The room itself was nice with a good view, but that's about all I could say positive about staying in the hotel. I've never been to a hotel that seemed so desperate to nickel and dime you for everything. One of the worst offenses I could say is in all my hotel experiences in Japan, I've never had trouble getting water for my kettle. Either the hotel is kind enough to have it ready for you, or have a filling station nearby on the floor. This hotel gave us an empty kettle, and upon inquiry to the front desk on how or where to fill it, we were told they could fill it for 100円. I've never even heard of something so stingy. I really wish they'd have just made the hotel price higher rather than try to recoup costs through these tiny, annoying means. Location: It's convenient if you're coming from the Shinkansen, but that's about it. Kobe is an incredibly walkable city, but the hotel is situated in the north side of the city on a hill overlooking the city. It makes for a great view, but it also makes it an island meaning you're not going to be able to easily return. The hotel itself is attached to a mall of sorts, but it's almost completely empty save a handful of restaurants and a clothing store or two. If you're a fan of Liminal Spaces though, it's pretty cool. Closed Facilities: The hotel had several facilities closed during our stay, including the bars advertised on the fourth and 37th floor (the button for the 37th floor did not even light up). They advertise more facilities, but I gave up going to see them. I could not recommend this hotel for any sort of vacation stay. Service is poor, location is not conducive to seeing the city. I would label this hotel strictly as a business hotel.

I started visiting ANA Crowne Plaza in Kobe since April 2008 and this hotel and its wonderful staff has always been consistent in delivering exceptionally wonderful service. The hotel is located strategically next to Kobe Shinkansen station which makes it very convenient to get to. Once of my favorite features of the hotel is that you can always get a beautiful view no matter which direction your hotel room faces - you can either enjoy the view of the beautiful mountain or the beautiful lit up city view at night or if you are really lucky, the view of the sea. The hotel is located away from Sannomia which gives you some privacy and makes it much quieter. There are many restaurants in the hotel as well as the complex where the hotel is located. You can easily walk up the mountain from the hotel and it’s easily accessible to Sannomia by walk (about 15 minutes walk).

I arrived at the ANA Kobe Crowne Plaza on the evening of 30 March 2023. My family of 4 is part of a tour of 30 people from Australia. The lobby was spacious and grand looking so we were hopefully that the room and service would match. On arrival at the hotel we were told to stand outside in the cold as the tour guide went inside to get room cards. A hotel staff ran out and gestured rudely for us to walk away from the entrance. The night was getting old and some children elderly visitors amongst us started to feel the chill. The lobby was empty so we wondered if we could go in and wait inside. Two manager-looking staff members stood on the other side of the glass door at the entrance, with a cold look on their face, guarded the door to prevent us from entering. After some wait, a representative from the group walked in and explained to the two managers at the door that it was cold and windy, and asked whether the group could wait inside. By then room cards were received so we were allowed in. Our rooms are on the 20th floor which is suppose to be a smoke free floor. But our rooms have the smell of cigarette and bathrooms smell like old urine. The kettle in the room doesn’t work so I rang room service, housekeeping and front desk etc asking for a replacement. During the phone calls I was told by a staff member that he didnt speak English and therefore can’t help. With some perseverance an old plastic replacement kettle finally arrived with a broken lid. Oh well it worked.

The hotel is super close to the train station and ropeway to the herb gardens. The room is very spacious and clean. There is shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Also a TV and fridge. There is a luxurious atmosphere in the hotel. The room has good view over the city. Only downside was that the swimming pool didn't open early in the morning.

The location next to the Shinkansen station and a subway station in the basement makes this hotel very convenient. Plus they are very accustomed to international guests. There is a spa, some decent but pricey restaurants and a great night view of central Kobe. If you are feeling adventurous and want to eat outside the hotel, go down to Flower Road at the bottom of the escalator at the southern end of the complex (South elevator from the lobby). Head towards Sannomiya and cut over one block right (anytime after passing the Lawson convenience store) to the street running parallel to Flower Road. Many good restaurant choices with local color. (Click on my name for other reviews with some more detailed recommendations.)

So bad... No advantage nor appreciation of the Elite members. No upgrade, no invitation amenity kit, no lounge working (although I paid for room with Lounge access), no restaurant or bar opened after 9pm.. It's more like a hostel focused on placing "disinfected" stickers than a real hospitality. I took an IHG challenge, but based on this experience I'm going to stick with Hilton and Hyatt and avoid IHG. In fact, the worst Japanese hospitality experience so far.... BTW, where you were last asked to pay for the accommodation before you've even seen the room in other then a creepy motel? Yes, they asked me for that! If you've experienced any other Japanese hotel/hospitality which is usually amazing, please avoid this hotel and ideally IHG chain hotels entirely..

Good location next to the station, great club lounge. However, we booked this as it had a pool , but it is extra £25 EACH ... no hotel should advertise a pool and charge you for using it , we have stayed at over 200 IHG properties on 5 continents and never come across this before , they need to rethink this policy

I'm surprised this hotel received a 4-star review, even though the room is rough and old. Everything is outdated and lacks functionality. I can't believe they don't have an AC cooling system in the room, and the wifi connection is terrible. Anyway, it was an absolute horrible experience staying in such unpleasant conditions. I am very disappointed. Sayonara Crown Plaza, it's time for you to renovate.

The room have heaters only and there’s no window that could open. The room itself is warm. Not sure why.. There’s no air conditioning. It made our 1st night very uncomfortable and we couldn’t sleep well. When ask about air conditioning, they gave us a small fan. I’m not expecting from a 4 star hotel. There’s no air ventilation in the room. When I approached them again, they offered to keep the emergency door in the room open for us is better but still too warm to sleep. Can’t imagine staying for the next 6 nights. The people are helpful and because it is central control, I know they can’t do anything about it. Perhaps the management got to rethink about the heater / air conditioning issue during the winter months.

The time I spent at the hotel was so delightful that I feel compelled to share my feelings with you. First and foremost, I must commend the hotel staff for their exceptional service. Their warmth and attentiveness made me feel right at home. Prior to my check-in, the hotel proactively contacted us and kindly upgraded us to a family room, which truly touched my heart. The layout of the family room with one king bed and one single bed was perfect, providing utmost comfort for me and my family. Secondly, I must praise the hotel's breakfast. The wide array of delicious dishes energized me every morning. The lounge also provided an excellent spot for me to enjoy the magnificent night view of Kobe, an experience that I will never forget. Furthermore, the hotel's location is also superb. Situated next to the subway station, it offers convenient transportation, allowing me to explore every corner of Kobe with ease. Additionally, the Herb Garden of Nunobiki and the Kitano Ijinkan district are nearby, offering me the opportunity to experience the unique charm of Kobe. My satisfaction with The Crowne Plaza ANA Kobe has reached its peak. If I have the chance to visit Kobe again, I would not hesitate to choose this hotel with outstanding value for money. I sincerely thank you and your team for providing me with such a wonderful experience.

Wonderful workers. Extremely nice staff and the hotel is really caring about Coronavirus. Everything super clean. Hallway carpets though need to be washed. Great views from most rooms.

Need to pay 2200 yen to use the pool which works out to 6600 for a family with 2 kids. We booked thru the ANA website and the price ended up a lot more then what was shown so be careful. When we mentioned the price we are paying is 10000 yen a night more then what sites currently showing they couldnt help us.

Hotel lobby and restaurants are definitely 5 star, rooms not so much... Our bathroom was pretty small, and i had a hard time fitting under the shower (M 1.89). Furniture was old and worn out, as well as the carpet. Can recommend if you get it cheap due to discount, otherwise i think there might be better options elsewhere. :)

Very convenient location close to train station Shin-Kobe. Rooms are a little small and need some refreshing, and services were just starting to re-open coming out of covid restrictions. However the employee’s are amazing and very friendly.

Very good hotel, great staff, delicious food and the most important thing for the hotel is a great soft bed where you can have a good rest and sleep before work. I recommend.

I frequently stay for business and always book here. The staff is friendly, flexible and most importantly, fix issues before I can even notice. I recommend people who are staying in Kobe for business to give here a serious consideration.

There is no any restaurants around Shin Kobe St. so needed to get a cab then go to Sannomiya (around 1000yen). Breakfast buffet was awesome!! Fresh salad & fruits, variety of pastry, authentic Japanese and western style. Hotel entrance, lobby and front desk were great and clean but room is kinda old especially ac system… also can’t open the window. I think they know how bad it is and can’t do anything about that (due to budget maybe), but at least we could rental humidifier and electric fan. All hotel staffs were very hospitable :) Highly recommended!!

The place was well maintained. Located next to the Shin-Kobe railway station Food was very good. Omelette varies with the chef. 1 day it was good and other 2 days, it was okayish. Only thing that was bad is the razor blades that was provided in the room. It was blunt that it caused scratches.

Would definitely need a refreshing. Decoration is old, room smelled like it had been smoking a long time ago, Wi-Fi is a bit annoying and this so-called ANA hotel isn't even accepting ANA frequent flyer card...
