This review is about the feel of staying here. No argument that this hotel is beautiful. No argument that the rooms are wonderfully laid out at least the twin rooms. Very spacious for a twin. But if you are a foreigner traveling there are some things you must know. 1) the mattress are extremely flat and hard. I am sure it is a Japanese style but if you have any body weight... The experience is miserable. 2) pillows are equally firm and small. 3) the cooling unit is inadequate. We left it at 21 all night but out thermometer never dropped below 26 It's a beautiful place but consider how you sleep before booking

Great conference hotel in Portopia near convention center. It looks like it is ageing gracefully. Still providing shuttle service to Sannomia.

What an amazing hotel that went above and beyond to assist me with my engagement! From the moment I booked with this hotel, they promptly responded with all the necessary details. Upon asking for some specific requests, they were very helpful from the start. The room was immaculate, the presentation for my requests were beautiful and the service was top tier. The buffet breakfast was fantastic and I highly recommend it to anyone staying here. A great variety of Japanese and “western-style” foods. I’m glad that I could celebrate here with my partner and I hope to stay here again in the near future. The premium suite is definitely worth every cent! Thank you Portopia!

Rooms can be much better but the overall aesthetic gives you 90's feeling. Was put up due to a flight cancellation. The hotel staff made sure we were taken care of with minimal hassle. The higher floors have some amazing views. Staff was friendly and make sure you stay here if you need some peaceful time instead of the city center chaos.

The hotel is ok, the all plastic bathroom is very tiny, service is reduced during or even after the pandemic. Language is an issue already at the check-in/out unless you speak Japanese. Also very outdated the fact, that they would not be able to provide you with an invoice if your room is booked through any online agent such as booking(dot)com. It is a week down the road and the hotel is still reluctant to provide an invoice. Hence, this is waste of time and I need to reduce further on the review since they won’t provide a tax invoice.

The portopia hotel was fantastic. Easy assess to center city Kobe either by the port liner train or the free bus that takes you to shin kobe or sannomoya. We were in the executive floor so we got the breakfast package in the oval club and it was great. The room we were in could get nice and cool which helped cause outside was so humid. Room service was good. The only complaint which made me give a 4 star on the room was we had a bed frame cover and floor that had some stains and the bed was hard as a brick. Other that that this place is great.

Here for a work conference so I did not pick the location. It was a good location for a work event with an adjacent conference center and airport access via the portliner, however this area is not great for other activity. You must take the portliner into Kobe for any real dining or activity. The hotel is pretty inside, with multiple restaurants but the rooms are dated and in need of upgrade (at least the few I saw) and the beds are extremely hard and uncomfortable. Walls are very thin that you can hear conversation (and crying children) through them quite easily. Convenient and inexpensive overall but this is not my favorite hotel experience.

The decor is a little dated, but the features are all good. The staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast is plentiful and has a great view. Bring your parking card to the front desk, there are exclusive parking discounts for hotel guests.

Very nice hotel. Rooms were huge by Japanese standards. Location is convenient when entering Kobe through the ferry terminal from Kansai airport. Otherwise it is around 10min away by train from the city center.

This place was a maze to navigate and the room we were in was weird. Booked for a room with 4 beds and I woke up staring at my friends beside and in front of me. It did make for a good time laughing. The hotel provides a shuttle service to Sannomiya and Kobe stations, also back from those stations too. 20mins wait for each shuttle service. Journey to Sannomiya took about 20mins on the shuttle as well. There is also a family mart within the hotel. Note that this hotel is away from the mainland and is en route to Kobe airport. There is an Ikea within 10mins walk from the hotel. Never thought I'd try Ikea in Japan but I did thanks to the hotel's location! 350 yen for a hashbrown, hotdog and icecream! Tiny wins.

Best breakfast ever! All round a great hotel, but the breakfast was genuinely the best I have ever eaten anywhere. So much variety, and almost everything delicious. Thank you so much for the experience!

Booked through agoda 6months earlier and manage to book at discounted price (around 6-8000yen per night). Upgraded for free to twin room. Room aas equipped with air cleaner too. Recommended

Nice hotel. The location is very close to a train station so you can easily go between kobe center and the hotel even though it is placed a bit away.

The room was quite "tired" and old fashioned. When I checked in they gave me no information on the facilities, not even when breakfast was or where I could get it. They do have a free shuttle bus into town which is great. There were very strange loud noises in the room at night. Friendly staff though but they don't speak much English.

A massive hotel but you can feel it was built in 1981. Perhaps in need of modernization. Very clean though as all over in Japan. Service is also of course impeccable. Location was perfect as we attended the 2023 jewelry fair just beside it.

Good service, room is clean with well arranged in fully necessaries. We are deeply appreciated .

Good price and location if you're wanting to be near the airport, but when we went in winter the rooms were very warm (and we couldn't adjust the cooling). Even opening the small window didn't do much.

This is a very good hotel with exceptional service. I stayed here for work and really enjoyed it. I would recommend getting a room with the breakfast rate included. The breakfast options are tasty and extremely varied.

Rooms are clean but quite dated. May have been the hardest mattress I have ever slept on. Top floor restaurant/buffet was fantastic and made up for the lackluster room. Very few dining options surrounding the hotel. Convenient location for Kobe airport. Only a few stops away from one of the main stations in Kobe.

Stayed for 1 night due to flight cancellation. Rooms were very clean, 3 beds (1 was a sofa bed). Design is outdated but still functional. Good service. Fast check in and out process. Near ikea, cafes and a family mart

Everything was perfect. It was a nice hotel. Breakfast buffet was included in my package. In the breakfast, lots of dishes were there. Only thing I feel is that a little bit more of English language support would be more helpful for foreigners.

Great hotel and staff were very friendly. Family Mart is located on site with great hours. Centrally located on Port Island and shuttle is provided to train station. Once wifi is upgraded in south building I can definitely rate as 5 star. #ohdisisgreat

I was there for a general event. They have an amazing ambiance from the entrance itself.

It is a hotel attracting international guests, yet the command in English would have lots of room for improvement. A simple question is already difficult to ask. Restaurants are not yet fully open, wifi on some floors didn’t work. Breakfast was good, although expensive but worth. Arguing to obtain an invoice when made the reservation through any web portal is a no-go!

It was a bit dated but well kept hotel. Parking is in the building next to it and it cost 800yen/day. The room was spacious and nice but not perfectly clean. There is a rooftop pool which was nice, rather small but we enjoyed it. It cost 2000yen for guests. There is a Family Mart within the hotel which was very convenient. The service was great!

The stuffs are kind and polite. The meeting rooms are clean and quiet. The location is good. It is not a center of the city but convenient place. I can go to center of the city in 15 minutes by monorail. I love this hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel.

A bit far from Kobe port which is famous tourist spot of Kobe. You have to take sky train to get here. Hotel was built back in more than 30 years ago, but renovated and very clean, huge. Rooms are also clean but for some part, I could feel old. For overall, it’s great experience to stay here. Great Restaurants are also gathered here, but a little bit expensive. Good to try lunch here.

It's really a beautiful and nice hotel , should be rated at 4 stars, however they offer a very nice price for my stay. I would say it's the best in town.
