    Amazing food and hospitality. We did mot have reservations but they were kind enough to seat us at the counter. Hostess was very nice and speaks English, they have English menu for tourists The chef himself came and check up on us. and gave us treats to go. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. They speak fluent English but they do appreciate if you can speak Japanese even if it's a little. 😊

You can grill it as you please with soy sauce, wasabi, lemon, and salt. They have four different kinds of ice cream/sherbet. The meat quality is great. They put the detail and quality of beef certification in the menu and on the wall. We went in the private dining room where you will have to take your footwear or shoes off first. There are also some seatings in the public area. They have a digital temperature sensor, sanitizer bottle, and their awards at the front desk.

    hospitality and food were both 10/10 probably one of the highlights of our trip. you cook hilda beef (better than kobe) on the grill yourself but you can’t really screw it up cos the beef is that good. got the travellers set and everything in the set was superb chef left us with a snack bag and a polaroid which we thought was a really cute touch 10/10 would recommend and definitely going back next time i go japan :)

    Friendliest chef I've ever met, made the experience 10 times better. Food was amazing, of course Kobe beef will blow your mind, get the set menu. Came all the way from Australia and would come here again just for the atmosphere and friendliness of all the people inside!

    Hisashi is one of the best chefs and one of the kindest human beings I‘ve ever met. Not only is his food delicious, it‘s also great value for money. He rounds everything up with his incredible hospitality, which is 100% authentic. I‘ve been to many Michelin starred restaurants, but this is different. He hasn‘t got any star, but the experience you‘ll have is far beyond most Michelin starred restaurants. Thank you for everything and see you soon my friend! I wish you all the best, Hisashi.

    After I visited and dined in this restaurant I understand that why it can be ranked number 1 among hundreds other Kobe restaurants in one of the most famous trip advising website. The food especially Kobe beef are great and the price is very very reasonable. When I and my wife arrived at the restaurant there were already 80 percent occupancy, all locals. The owner and executive chef Hisashi Matsudaira San is a very friendly and considerate gentleman. He would always chat with the guests to understand their needs or concerns. When he knew we are enjoying self driving vacation he reminded me several times about the car tyres requirements during severe weather condition, a very good man. Though sometimes we might not be able to communicate directly in English, Hisashi San has a direct language translation device so that we could have a very pleasant talk tonight. Very highly recommend for dining in this number 1 restaurant.

    I visited in may 2023 and it was an amazing experience. The food was very delicious and it was fun to be able to grill your own hida beef the way you like it. I also ordered their miso soup, Hida Beef Croquette and everything was great. There's many more options like fish and sashimi here as well. The staff also help you at the start and are overall very kind. The pricing for their Hida beef (150g) was also amazing combined with their impeccable, friendly and outgoing service. Their sake (sweetened) tasted very good as well and the owner's sake collection itself was memorable. It was quite easy to find and pretty close to the train station with a beautiful temple in between. You could even go to Himeji castle by train, since the line connected to that station as well. I will be going back to Japan in October 2024 and visit the restaurant with my friends.

    Was searching for beef to eat in Kobe and this restaurant popped up. To my surprise it offered Hida beef - I had it at Takayama some years before and it was unforgettable. We ordered the beef set and some sides, shared by 2pax. It was amazing. The beef croquette was good but the highlight was truly the grilled Hida beef. So soft and fatty and it tastes exactly like I remembered. Chef was friendly and took 2 polaroids for us and even gave us some snacks for the road 😍 we love everything about this place and will recommend it to all my friends coming to Japan.

    Just like every other tourist we found this place on Google as we do not know any locals. Suffice to say the Hida beef that we ate was delicious. The best mouthful of food that I could ask for. One to be remembered. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was welcoming. The owner and the lady that served us were very attentive. The owner came for a chat and took our photo with a Polaroid. We ordered the beef and fish platter. The starters were nice and so was the fish main but the stand out was the beef. The only reason to come here. Well worth a visit.

    Great quality beef with impeccable service, certainly worth the trip from Osaka or Kobe. We ordered the beef course and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and quantity of the food. Not only the beef was tasty and well marbled, the appetisers and side dishes were excellent too. The sake selection was good, be sure to ask for some recommendation. Most of all, the owner/chef was jovial and friendly. He went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our experience as foreigners. Thank you for having us and for the wonderful meal!

    Hello, i had the best evening at Hanasato I ever had in a restaurant. The food is amazing and so tasty. The chef is so friendly and funny. I would give 10 stars if i could. So, all in all, if you visit Kobe, come here for an incredible evening.

    Pricey, but well worth the delicious food and excellent atmosphere. Enjoyed the hida beef set. The chef was so friendly and literally popped in every so often to check in on us. He also gave sake on the house, Japanese snacks, and Polaroid for memories. So much fun and surprisingly very filling!

    GO HERE. The food was amazing, the chef was so excited to speak English with us and came out 4-5 times during our meal to chat, take photos, share free ice cream and sake with us, and ask us about our trip. Who cares about Kobe beef, this Higa beef was amazing and fatty and delicious. I’d reccomwnd this place to anyone and everyone, Japanese or English. The crab was fresh, and the tempura vegetables were great. Wasabi was fresh grated and real. His wife takes orders and waitresses, and helped show us how to cook our food on the candle lit grill.

    Had an amazing meal at this family restaurant. The travelers set menu is exceptional value as you get to try a huge selection of Japanese top grade cuisine. The owner is very generous to us and the service is impeccable. While it slightly out of the way from the city centre, it worth while trip.

    Thank you for one of the best dinner experience to us. We really love it. The owner is response for reservation very fast and all of the staff are very kind and helpful. For the dinner course, we ordered "Grill Hida beef" course. It is very big course but still can finish all. The taste of the appertizer, sashimi, salad and ice cream are very good.     One of the most awesome experiences I have had at any restaurant in Japan, or in the world. I can easily see that the owner truly cares about his food, the service, and the restaurants, and is genuinely excited about how his restaurant brings people in from around the world. Food is absolutely amazing, the service was impeccable, and the restaurant's decor was great as well. So glad I found this place and made the trek away from downtown Kobe to eat here.

    We saw the wonderful reviews and thought we should give it a try as we were in Kobe for the day - and we’re so glad that we did. The most delicious food!! We got the 5 course hida beef menu and literally every single course was just so flavoursome, amazing quality food and preparation. The hida beef especially was just impeccable - we had a hot plate in the middle of the table to cook it with and it’s literally buttery and MELTS in your mouth. The vibe in the restaurant is so nice, our hostess was really nice and very accommodating with explaining things to us in English and the owner was so lovely! He came round, chatting to us and making sure the food was good (it was always perfect!). This place is a must-visit if you’re in Kobe, can’t recommend it enough! We will definitely be coming back the next time we’re in town.

    An outstanding dining experience at Hanasato Kobe! Had dinner here for two; unbelievable melt in your mouth Hide beef, super fresh side dishes and a delectable selection of Japanese drinks. The owner was super friendly and we had such a great time chatting about anything and everything - he gave us each a bag of his favourite Japanese sweets at the end! Price was very worth it given how much quality beef, food and service we got. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for simple and fresh ingredients prepared to an amazing level.

    Food was really good! Ordered the before set. The beef was super soft, melts in your mouth and the portions were very worth the price. We ordered 2 additional dishes (unagi and fried fugu) and they were also really delicious. Service was good too. Was served by a lady and she was very friendly and kind. The owner (?) stopped by to chat with us for a bit and even gave us souvenirs filled with Japanese snacks. Would definitely go back when I have the chance 😊❤

    Was at the restaurant on 13 Dec for dinner. It was a most pleasant experience. The food was fantastic! The sashimi, cold crab and grilled unagi were good! All recommendations from the chef were spot on. There was an English menu for non Japanese speaking guests. The chef was very friendly and tried to converse with us even though he can’t speak much English. At the end of the dinner he even surprised us with some small treats and ice cream. Definitely will visit this place again when I go Kobe.

    Recommended to: Anyone who can cook their own meat Not recommended to: Anyone who burns their meat anytime they cook their own meat This restaurant is with almost 50 years of experience serving customers. I believe this is one of the wonderful places in Kobe if you’re looking for a place to have Kobe beef in Kobe. The only reason it is not the one and only most wonderful place is only because it sells Hiba beef, not Kobe beef. But I certainly recommend this place since I found Hiba beef in this place even more attractive than any Kobe beef I’ve ever had. Frankly speaking, I had reserved another famous place in Kobe before I found Hanasato but I thought I should give this Hanasato a try. As a result, I got the chance to have the most wonderful dinner I’ve ever had in Kobe. You will never be frustrated giving a try. With this restaurant’s reasonable price, the witty and kind master, special sake line-up, and, most of all, fanciest food in Kobe, I bet you will definitely plan to visit Kobe again only because of this restaurant. And I will also visit this restaurant again to try other kinds of foods. I tried another dish on the menu after finishing the course, and it was also awesome. Another thing I’d like to tell you is that I saw a group of local lawyers holding meeting in this place, and they all seem to visit this restaurant often. I guess this will tell you a lot: local restaurant where local lawyers visit often. One last thing I’m worried about is that you have to cook your own meat like when you do Korean BBQ here. So I don’t recommend those who never cooked their own meat or are bad at cooking meat. For the rest, I strongly recommend this restaurant.

    Such a wonderful meal and experience. We travelled from Kyoto to try this place due to their rave reviews and it was well worth it! Their Hida beef has top quality marbling, and all the other food was divine. The vinaigrette crab and vegetable tempura was also a highlight. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

    This place is an absolute gem for quality beef in Kobe! I can hardly express how delighted I am we got to eat here of all the places in Kobe. Not left disappointed in any way. The hospitality and service of the staff is magnificent, the owner, Hisashi, was friendly and even sat down to have a chat with us. Such a polite and good man. The food itself is amazing, well-assorted, cut and prepared. We were instructed on how best to prepare our food, once served. It was an absolute experience with the quality exceeding many of the place I’ve been, travelling. I definitely recommend coming here when going through Kobe and seeking quality beef and time. Don’t miss this, for the love of it.

    One of the best dining experiences I had in Japan. Can’t beat a 5-course melt in your mouth beef experience for $45. Great local sake list as well. The chef and his wife were super friendly and welcoming hosts and made me feel at home. Great people.

    This was definitely the best beef I ever had (and I had a few, including A5 Kobe)! Beefy, Buttery, simply melting away in your mouth ... I still dream about this :) The owner also took time to explain us about the different types and qualities of Kobe beef. We also had the fish course (nodoguro) which was absolutely delicious, too. The service was also exceptional, even by Japanese standards. It is a family run restaurant and you directly feel how much love and dedication the chef and his wife put into it. They are incredible hosts and you feel that they truely want you to have a perfect evening. Overall it was definitely the best dining experience of our trip and highest recommendation. We will surely return as soon as possible!

    The experience we had was out of this world. Easily one of the best meals I ever had in my entire life. The owner and the rest of the staff offered us a truly unforgettable dinner, making sure we were enjoying our meals at every moment. Additionally, the Chef is one of the funniest-most humble-unique persons I’ve met in my life. He offered us Polaroid pictures that we will surely keep as a great memory of our visit. Apart from that, they offered my vegetarian partner a few free of charge courses that we deeply appreciated. He was so genuinely dedicated to making everyone’s experience as enjoyable as possible, and at the end of our diner we had a great conversation with him and took some pictures to commemorate this great experience. If I could I would rate this restaurant above 5/5!!! I’m eager to come back in the future and hopefully offer some nice Spanish jamón to the owner!

    Where do I even begin in reviewing this restaurant. When you visit a restaurant off the back of reading so many good reviews, it can sometimes be a bit dangerous in setting your own expectations but I came out with having had the best, most fun time in a restaurant I had ever had. First of all to say on the vibe and setting, if you’re looking for traditional Japanese setting with just the right amount of comfortability if you are from abroad, then this ticks that very difficult box. The food was amazing and probably goes without saying, but especially some dishes that traditionally I’m never normally that keen on such as raw fish, delighted my senses beyond my expectations. The HANA beef serving was both fun to cook (with more than a helping hand of course) and just tremendous. I was told previously by a couple of locals that it’s an error to only try to focus on finding Kobe beef as other meats in the areas of Japan are just as good and this meal backs up that claim. The value for money is incredible, I’ve been to Michelin starred restaurants who would without doubt normally charge 3 times the amount for what was served in my time there. Then lastly and importantly, chef Hitashi is just a tremendous guy to meet, a great host and just a total joy to be around. I was lucky enough to speak to him and his colleagues a lot during the evening, with many laughs and great vibes shared. Even if you don’t speak Japanese and you hear him speaking to locals, he exudes energy which is infectious and adds so much to the experience. His staff are also wonderful, welcoming and dote very kindly. This is a restaurant experience you need to have in your life.

    Echoing all the reviews, even when sitting in a closed room, the owner came knocking by and poked his head in to say hello. We ordered one hida beef dinner set and additional beef and fish order for the 3 of us, and the owner gave us some extra salad, apéritifs and ice cream from the set with no extra charge. He also gave us some goody bags after with Japanese snacks! Very happy and cheerful fella. He also took a polaroid photo for us and chatted with us a bit and tries to speak English. His credit card machine also broke down while we were dining, and after we went out to get cash, he was very apologetic and offered us a bottle of sake for the disturbance. We were taken aback by his offer and can't even begin to describe his kindness. This chef has a great heart, and brings faith back to humanity.

    A hidden gem in Kobe. Had hida beef course meal, price was OK considering the amount of food offered. Beef melted in your mouth and all the ingredients were fresh. A great experience with great hospitality from the owner. He tried to talk to us in simple English and made us feel welcomed. We ended the meal with the owner taking photo for me and my friend in Polaroid and give it to us for keep sake, he even gave us some mini gift as take away as well. He really put his heart and soul to offer good experiences to his customers.

    Absolutely our favorite dining experience during our Japan trip. If you're in the mood for high quality Hida beef and amazing hospitality, then look no further than Restaurant Hanasato KOBE. Although there is NO Kobe beef here, the quality of Hida beef served here will satisfy your cravings for rich marbling, tenderness, and deep umami flavors. Chef/Owner Hisashi Matsudaira and his family made us feel very welcome last night as we enjoyed our set menu dinner. Reservations highly recommended. We will be back someday!

    Incredible experience in Hanasato Kobe. Had the best meat I ever had in my whole life (they are serving hidabeef, the beef race from Gifu préfecture). Outstanding welcome by the chef who was so kind to us during the whole dinner. Definitely a must to do at least once in a life for meat purists who will be able to enjoy the best beef cuts of the world. Chef thank you again so much, see you very soon !

    Our family visited Osaka on a three day trip and this was our first stop for a meal! Food was fantastic, course meal came out timely, the atmosphere was great, and the service was best we’ve ever had. Very foreigner friendly and tried to communicate in English for us as much as possible. The owner of the restaurant was so kind and it was my brother’s birthday and they brought a dessert surprise and even complementary snacks for the whole family! If you’re in Osaka looking for a good meal, good and private atmosphere, with incredible service, I highly highly recommend!

    Everyone was very kind and it was a great experience. Food was incredibly and definitely the best beef around. Other courses were amazing as well, with the sashimi particularly great. We were walked out and given helpful directions to get home to Kyoto, will definitely be back in the future.

    This was one of the BEST dinner experiences we’ve had in japan!! Unbelievable!! The chef came to our table and was so lovely, he even offered us goodies at the end of the meal. As we were about to leave at the end of the meal, we decided to get one more order of hida beef!! We were full but couldn’t resist. It was the best meat we’ve ever tasted. I can’t recommend this place enough!!

    Can’t rave enough about this place. We went here for dinner after reading reviews and the whole experience was outstanding. The food was excellent with great quality beef, the owner who has had the business for over 40 years spent some time telling us his story and even shouted us a round of drinks being Christmas Day. Gave us a good bag to take away also, places like this makes the whole dining experience wonderful. Thank you for the amazing hospitality

    My friends and I visited back in November 2019. The food was of great value and tasted delicious. But most importantly of all, the hospitality and friendliness of the staff was top notch. They even gave us our own poloroid pictures to take home with us!

    This restaurant was amazing! I had an amazing experience! Food was great and value for money. I made a reservation through email and the owner confirmed it promptly on the same day as there was room. The dinner set includes a large serving of Hida beef, sashimi, appetizer, salad, soup, rice and ice cream. The Hida beef was delicious and surpasses the A5 Kobe beef I had for lunch at another establishment.     This is awesome place for a great experience. The Hida beef melts in your mouth. The sashimi is very fresh. Best to make reservations as the food is brought in fresh everyday. The owner and staff provide great service and love to hear where you are from. The locals are very friendly and enjoy foreigners eating like the locals. We will definitely be back to try the specials.

    What an amazing experience! We traveled from Osaka in order to visit this restaurant and it was worth it!! The front staff were super helpful and friendly and provided us with an easy to understand English menu. The food itself was a amazing - we took a travellers menu to share between two which includes from starters to dessert (¥5,000) and everything was delicious. Aside from all the wonderful appetisers and starters the hida meat was simply exquisite. The chef, Hisashi-san even took the time from a busy evening to stop by and ask us about the food and made sure we had a good experience. Highly recommended and definitely a place to stop by for a meal if within the vicinity of Kobe !!!! Price is more than reasonable for the quality of the food and the care of the staff! Thank you all again for a wonderful evening!!

    An amazing experience! Food was great and value for money. I made a reservation through email and the owner confirmed it promptly. The 6000 yen (6600 with tax) dinner set includes a large serving of quality beef, sashimi, appetiser, salad, soup, rice and ice cream. I was initially surprised when we were told we had to grill the beef ourselves but it was a sign of their confidence in the quality of their beef. I found it to surpass the A5 Kobe beef I had for lunch at another establishment. Would highly recommend. JR station also offers easy connections to Osaka and Kyoto. We left with a Polaroid, gift packs of souvenirs from Japan and a memorable experience of one of the best beef we ever had.

    I’ve always wanted to eat Kobe beef in Kobe and researched restaurants for ages. The reviews for this place were amazing and so myself and two friends booked a table for a Friday night. There is a restaurant area seating about 40 people and an L shaped counter in the front which is where we were seated. It was a great spot which enabled us to chat to the incredibly passionate owner and head chef Hisashi and his lovely staff. We chose the set menu which comprised six courses of the most exquisite and varied dishes including the best sashimi I’ve ever tasted. The Kobe beef course was equally amazing. Little rectangles of marbled heaven served with veg and garlic and your own griddle plate to cook to your own specification. Hint - you can eat this raw it’s so good. Like butter with a soft creamy texture. Chef Hisashi was very attentive and recommended some awesome Sake to go with various courses which we of course took his advice on. Try the unfiltered cold sake,it looks like milk and tastes like angels crying on your tongue. This place is a hidden gem, clearly getting it’s trade through word of mouth and it was unanimously the best dining experience of our three week trip and we ate in some great places. Oh and it’s amazing value. Just go. Kampai

    An absolute must if you are traveling in Kobe or Osaka. Chef Hishasi-san and his staff are friendly,c and incredibly welcoming. The food is spectacular and if you have the set menu you will have plenty to eat. The higa beef was particularly impressive, cooked rare it simply melts in your mouth. I had the good fortune to come a bit later in the evening so when the kitchen closed Hisashi-san came out and we had a great time drinking sake and chatting. I will be back next time I'm in the area.
