This
is
a
red
brick
building
located
right
next
to
Kobe
Oji
Zoo.
I
don't
know
much
about
literature,
so
my
initial
purpose
when
I
went
there
was
to
take
pictures
of
the
buildings.
The
building
was
originally
the
chapel
of
Kwansei
Gakuin
(now
the
advancement
of
Kwansei
Gakuin
University),
but
it
is
now
a
museum
about
writers
associated
with
Kobe.
Admission
was
free,
so
I
went
inside.
It
was
interesting
to
see
explanations
of
how
the
great
writers
on
display
were
involved
with
Kobe,
as
well
as
the
fountain
pens
and
pipes
they
used,
handwritten
manuscripts,
and
books
from
the
time.
In
addition,
some
writers
who
were
originally
active
in
Tokyo
moved
their
base
of
activity
to
Kansai
after
the
Great
Kanto
Earthquake,
and
Kobe
seems
to
have
been
a
city
loved
by
literary
giants
of
the
Meiji
and
Taisho
eras.
Among
the
authors
I
knew,
there
were
names
such
as
Shiki
Masaoka,
Junichiro
Tanizaki,
Riichi
Yokomitsu,
Seishi
Yokomizo,
Shugoro
Yamamoto,
Shohei
Ooka,
and
Shusaku
Endo.
Until
now,
the
only
thing
that
came
to
mind
when
I
thought
of
Nada
was
the
zoo,
but
I
would
like
to
explore
it
more
and
find
interesting
destinations.
