The main waterfall itself is beautiful but a lot of the other waterfalls and the river itself is manmade or reinforced with concrete which take away from the nature of the place. Also the stairway is very unstable with big holes in the concrete and uneven stairs, gotta watch where you are going. Extremely steep in places as well but if you continue up the pathway you can find a viewing platform with a nice view over Kobe.

A must see when you visit Kobe. It's easily reachable from Shin-Kobe station just a short hike up some stairs. The waterfalls here are stunning, it was hard to leave the view behind. The pools look inviting, entering and swimming is prohibited though.

Shin-Kobe Ropeway (新神戸ロープウェー) is one of three services that lifts tourists up the southern slopes of the Rokko mountain chain. The ropeway departs from next to Shin-Kobe Station, Kobe's shinkansen station. As it ascends, it passes by the Nunobiki Waterfall and the Nunobiki Herb Garden, giving a nice aerial view of both. The highlight of the ride lies in the observation deck located just beside the top station, which offers spectacular views of Kobe and is a popular night view spot. An alternative way to get to the top station is via a hiking trail from Shin-Kobe Station. It is somewhat surprising that only a few steps north of the station are forests shielded from the rumbles of the city. A 15-20 minute climb through the woods takes you to the 43 meter tall Nunobiki Waterfall, whose name comes from its draped cloth-like appearance. Five minutes east from here is the Miharashi Observatory, which offers decent views of the city. A further 20 minute scale up the mountain takes you to the middle station of Shin-Kobe Ropeway and the lower entrance of Nunobiki Herb Garden, one of Japan's largest herb gardens with hundreds of herb species and seasonal flowers. A glasshouse in the garden makes growing flowers and fruits such as guavas and papayas possible throughout the year.

It's a fun little waterfall close to the station. You need to go downstairs and out the north end of the station, then make a left and follow the road. It is just 15 minutes. You could do it between Sinkansen it's so easy.

A stunning and rightfully famous waterfall which is a short hike from the shin Kobe station. The several tiers cascade in front of and below the viewing platform which provides an immersive experience for you to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of nature and this waterfall.

It's a beautiful place and an astonishing waterfall. If you are already at the kobe station, take on the short hike through the nice forest and visit this waterfall. It's one of Japan's biggest ones and especially after it rained there will be a lot of water coming down the edge of the mountain. Just make sure to have some good shoes on, and you might get wet depending on the condition of the waterfall.

(Translated by Google) I often come, but this time it was dark when I was taking a detour. Nunobiki Falls at night was somewhat mysterious and wonderful (^ _ ^ *) Recently, the amount of plating water is small and it is not powerful (laugh) There may be a rainbow, and you can see various aspects. (Translated by Google) I was sweating on the steep slopes and stairs, and I realized that I was old (laughs). The waterfall is chorochoro, and the autumn leaves are completely. The view from the observatory is not so visible because of the trees. I'm tired. (Original) 急な坂や階段に汗かいて、年取ったなぁと痛感しました(笑) 滝はチョロチョロ、紅葉は全然。展望台からの眺めは木が邪魔してあまり見えない。 疲れました。

(Translated by Google) A famous place that rises from directly behind Shin-Kobe Station on the Shinkansen. I've used Shin-Kobe station many times, but I didn't know. The road is well maintained, but it is a steep slope. The waterfall is really beautiful and worth the climb. The nice thing about Kobe is that there is such a place near the largest city area. I visited this beautiful waterfall in late Dec. It is close to Shin Kobe train station and takes around 15-30 mins to walk from the station to the waterfall. This light intense hiking path is quiet and beautiful before reaching the Nunobiki waterfall. Recommended for tourist to go here if you like nature view.

An absolutely stunning waterfall near Shin-Kobe station and the Nunobiki Herb Garden! The stairs were a bit uneven, so I recommend wearing shoes with good traction if you are visiting after walking down from the Herb Gardens.

(Translated by Google) There are three waterfalls in Japan called Kami no Taki. One of them is here [Nunobiki Falls], which is only 400m from the Shinkansen "Shin-Kobe Station". As Kobe water flows, it is also known locally as "Seiryu no Taki, which improves your fortune." Taira no Kiyomori, who visited this waterfall, gained wealth from here in Kobe through the Japan-Song trade. It is a famous waterfall for more than a thousand years, and has been read in numerous songs and depicted in many ukiyo-e prints. Upstream of this waterfall is a dam built in the Meiji era, where Kobe water is stored and supplied as water for ships. There is also a tap where the stored water comes out, so you can drink it. I think there was more water in the Edo period when there were no dams. The ukiyo-e artist probably drew it daringly. Some waterfalls are now illusory, but they will appear after heavy rains. It is the same three major waterfalls in Japan as Nachi Falls and Kegon Falls, so please take a look.

To go there you need pass the taxi stand tunnel with no pedestrians, which is counterintuitive. But the signs are everywhere both in english and Japanese. The place is not that remote or hard to reach, the main view is about 15mins walk up the stairs. The place is well lit at night and very safe. You can continue walking up the stairs to see the reservoir.

Went during winter time. Not much water but still a very surreal place to be at. Quiet place with few folks walking/trekking along the trails. Came down from the herb garden at the top. Will recommend this for those who wants a little adventure/hiking/trekking

A fun experience less than 5 to 10 minutes walk from Shin Kobe station. The stairs can be dangerous if you do not pay attention as you may trip so just take care.

(Translated by Google) It is possible to climb from Shin-Kobe Station as if you were taking a walk, but there are long stairs along the way, so it may be difficult for people with bad knees to return. You can enjoy the cool and light mountain climbing feeling even in summer. I have encountered wild boars several times, but I passed by next door. Beautiful place for a little hiking trip. I only wish the little cafe was open while I was there for a cup of coffee while looking at the fall colors.

Visited during early winter (13 Dec) and the waterfall wasnt that impressive. As described by my family - a trickle! The colours of the foliage and the hike was very good though. Took us about 2 hrs to hike up from bottom to Nunobiki Herb Garden. Just continue on esp when you reached the dam near the top. Walked across the bridge and head up the steps, there is a little sign "Nunobiki Herb Garden". It'll lead you to the road and just turn right. Once you come to the gate, just enter through the side door cos the main gate is locked.

A big waterfall which consists of two smaller waterfall. You can find this waterfall after climbing several meters ahead from the first waterfall you have visited before, the Mentaki one. This waterfall seemed to be the biggest and be the most attractive one, as many people were gathering to observe its beauty. Unfortunately, I can go further to observe what is provided at the upper side. Worth to try to observe especially during summer. And the hiking level also easy as it is located near the Shin-Kobe station.
