Shin-Kobe Station

Train station Transit station Subway station

😐 One of the least convenient major Shinkansen stations. To transfer to regular JR lines, you need to walk about 5 minutes to the municipal subway, which you then take for just one stop, and then transfer back to JR at Sannomiya station. I try to avoid this station and use either Himeji or Shin-Osaka... People often mention station, train, Kobe, Shinkansen, trains, shinkansen,

Small station where the shinkansen stops. There are a few shops and food places but not a lot. You can take a local train to the Sannomiya station which is closer to Kobe town center and harbor. Plenty of lockers to store luggage for a Kobe day trip.

One of the least convenient major Shinkansen stations. To transfer to regular JR lines, you need to walk about 5 minutes to the municipal subway, which you then take for just one stop, and then transfer back to JR at Sannomiya station. I try to avoid this station and use either Himeji or Shin-Osaka for the simplicity of transferring to JR from there. The station facilities are nice, however, and it is one of the prettier shinkansen stations, backing immediately onto the wooded slopes of the Rokko mountains and the paths leading to Nunobiki falls. Just not a great station for making transfers. You can catch buses and taxis outside of the station if you are headed elsewhere in the Kobe environs.

Shin means new. If you want to take shinkansen to Tokyo or another prefecture in Japan, you can go to shin-Kobe station. You can directly go to the shinkansen line or have the reservation seat first at the JR office on the station. If you do not have the reservation, you have to notice which car (Gerbong kereta) that provide the unreservation passanger. You need to see the running text LED display the information of that. If you lost the train, you can wait for the next train... so dont worry. The think that we need to do as the new comer in Japan is stay awake.. wkwkw and read every sign, then you will get familiar with it. Or you can ask the officer. They will help you, some of them can understand english, though sometimes they could not reply you in english.

All shinkansen trains stop here. The center of Kobe, Sannomiya is one stop away by subway. However, it can be exhausting to take your suitcase and carry it up or down the loooooonnnggggg flight of stairs when going to or coming from sannomiya. Also, sannomiya has tons of better food options.

A really special Shinkansen centric station. Due to space limit, there is only one platform each way. This makes transferring between trains of the same direction super easy, just get off, wait and enter. Especially for travelers who use JR Pass and travels between Kyushu/Chugoku and Kyoto/Nagoya/Tokyo regions. Plus you also get to see a lot of Shinkansen trains because of the frequency. Seems like the ekibens are not really special. And the station itself is quite old. Also seems like it is kinda hard to access Kobe and you might be better off transferring to Limited express trains in Osaka instead.

Omiyage is better to be bought before the gate. Easy train station with only two platforms.

Nice station with helpful staff. Trains are on time and you have to know where you’re going, they only stop to load for about 2-3 minutes.

Shin—Kobe station, where all the bullet trains stop in Kobe, is in the upper part of town, nestled under the hills. There are plenty of taxis at ll hours. The underground runs from the station into the city. If it is last minute shopping there is plenty to choose from. If you are staying at the Anne Criwne Plaza Hotel, the station is ideal. You walk diwn to the end of the sration, down the covered walkway into the hotel.

It is a large, multi tiered station in the heart of Kobe city. We came in a Shinkansen from Shin Kobe station to Shin Kyoto Station. The unique long dolphin nose of the bullet train - Shinkansen is a sight to remember as it is seen on both ends of the train. The Shinkansen was scheduled to Tokyo and there were trains almost every ten minutes. All were punctual to the time. If you have a reserved ticket, board the green coach and if unreserved, you must catch the cars 1-3. The maiden trip was amazing. The train sped to 287kmph and we could hardly feel any discomfort. The view from the windows were cherishable. The seats were comfortable with ample leg space and head room. There is a small overhead storage for small bags and narrow suitcases.

shinkansen train station. I can't find the train lines that connect to the station. Quite a difficult journey. and all the stations have almost no internet, which is extremely inconvenient for a tourist like me, who can't find trains and routes! Internet is quite a luxury at JR stations!

One of my favorite Shinkansen stations in Japan. Easily accessible by train & taxi. Directions are clear & not confusing. Excellent shops at the ground floor for buying local snacks & tidbits.

A clean and roomy station. JR staff are polite and helpful and are always willing to help even if they speak little English. Lots of comfortable seats and some nice cafes to refuel.

A relatively small but roomy Shinkansen station compared to other Nozomi’s stops. The signs to local attractions were clear. We could follow the direction to Nunobiki Garden cable car station without problem.

Surprisingly small shinkansen station with limited choice of restaurants for lunch. One big omiyage shop, lines can get very long for the cashiers.
