The modern Western building that remained in the former settlement was originally an American consulate, and has been designated as an important cultural property of the country. It was completely destroyed in the Great Hanshin Earthquake and faced the risk of being demolished. With the meaning of earthquake recovery, it was successfully rebuilt using old materials as much as possible and with a seismic isolation structure. The former settlement was the place where Japan's first full-scale sewage system was installed, and you can tour the facility next to the museum. There is a Toothtooth cafe and shop inside the building, and you can enjoy tea inside the building, which is a cultural property. We enjoyed the Setouchi lemon tart made with Iwagi Island lemons with tea.

This building is a former American consulate and is designated as a national important cultural property. The Western-style buildings give you the feel of a Kobe settlement. Works from the 29th Kobe Luminarie 2024 were exhibited as a comeback event after the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. At the former Kobe Settlement Jugobankan, an 8m high arch-shaped illumination work was on display. The exhibition period will be until January 28th. There are also various illumination works exhibited in the surrounding area, and since this Luminarie allows you to freely decide your route, I think it would be a good idea to take a walk around the various exhibits.

It is located right next to the Kobe City Museum. A former United States consulate built around 1880. It is the only remaining building from the settlement era in the former settlement, and is designated as an important cultural property of the country. It was completely destroyed in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995, but was restored using the original building materials. Currently used in a restaurant. On the east side of the building, there is a brick-built aqueduct that serves as the ``former settlement sewer public facility''.

This is an inn located in a former foreign settlement. It is now operated as the restaurant TOOTH TOOTH maison 15th. This is a summary of the explanation on the side of the building. Former Kobe Settlement Jugobankan is the oldest foreign building remaining in Kobe City, and was designated as an important cultural property in 1989. Although it was completely destroyed in the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, it took about three years to revive as Japan's first cultural property building that adopted the latest seismic isolation methods. I dined here with my family the other day. You can enjoy a French cuisine lunch course at an affordable price. I think the reason why this Ijinkan has always maintained its beautiful appearance is because it is operated as a popular restaurant. (Visit: 2023-05-14)

(Translated by Google) Attracted by the stylish building, I took shelter from the rain and had lunch. Lunch is 2530 yen and you can choose from 3 types. Salad Bread Main drink. I was nervous about each and every detailed explanation (laughs). We had delicious. The bread was warm and delicious. If you look at the street, you'll be surrounded by Louis Vuitton and PRADA brand streets...that's why~ (Original)

Originally, Sannomiya was a narrow area sandwiched between two rivers, the Ikuta River and the Minato River. However, because the Kobe Settlement was built near the river mouth facing the sea, the Ikuta River was reshaped and widened in just three months to prevent water from flooding the area! Also, the Japanese rickshaw drivers in the settlement were said to be able to speak almost everyday English, probably because there were many foreigners around them! This well-ordered settlement was said to be the most beautiful in the world! Also, since Chinese people were not allowed to enter this settlement, many communities were built and lived in the Chinatown at the edge of the settlement...This is the Motomachi Chinatown that exists today, where Chinese cuisine was served. It has a reputation for being the busiest downtown area in Kobe!

It seems to be a restaurant inside, with a beautiful old European-style building on the outside. There are many famous brands nearby, and the streets are a fusion of old and new.
