I live here are come as often as I can. In the off season the beach is pretty empty except for a few people exercising. However in the on season there are shore front bars that line the beach that are only built temporarily for the summer. The beach is VERY busy and there are a lot of people from all over the world who come here not just Japanese people. BBQ on the beach is NOT allowed, however you can drink and smoke. Tattoos are allowed as well. Drinking alcohol is also okay but make sure that you are aware of the people around you especially if you are foreign or a woman because Suma is known for being the place that men try to pick up women in the summer and when alcohol is involved it can be dangerous. If you are looking to come here with your family and children there is also a sectioned off area called a "ファミリーエリア" where alcohol and smoking are prohibited and so are people with tattoos so be aware of that. It's a beautiful place and so much fun overall.

Right beside the JR station, this artificial beach is the perfect place to hang out on a summer day. However the shower rooms close by 5:30pm so it’s slightly inconvenient for the evening swimmers.

Fun beach 20 minutes from downtown Kobe. Very convenient and close by from Osaka. Beach wasn't like my home Hawaii but the sand and water was refreshing. Nearby restaurant and bar next to the beach was awesome 😎. Good times and summer vibes. This is my new favorite beach near Osaka. Enjoy and Aloha

A pleasant beach with snack bars. We came here for a quick swim and it was lovely. A view of the islands in the distance makes it a great place for a dip. We were driving, and we found a coin parking lot on the main road a few minutes walk away. But the train station is practically on the beach, so getting there is easy. If you have tattoos, you will be asked to cover them up before going onto the beach, as they are unacceptable. It was very crowded when we were there, especially with people bobbing along on inflatables of one sort or another. But it was a very pleasant and safe place to swim.

It was a good beach to visit while in Kobe in summer. I’m giving it 3 stars though because I have been to better ones. I went there on the first week of September, so that could be a factor why I was not at all wowed by this beach. (I’m from a part of the Philippines where the beaches have white sand and the water is crystal clear, so my standards of a good beach is a little high. Lol) PROS: 1. Easily accessible. You can easily take a train to Suma Station, which is right in front of the beach. 2. There are shops where you can buy food and drinks. For instance, there’s Grateful’s (burger shop), a conbini bu Suma Station, some vending machines, etc. 3. The water is clear. Not the clearest I’ve seen, but is clear enough. 4. You can see some small fishes. 5. The view is nice. CONS: 1. The beach is pebbly. If you have a sensitive sole, it’s gonna be an experience for you. 2. When we went there, there was a dead fish on the beach. Not sure if it was washed ashore or because of some bird.

Cool beach with lovely sand. It' right in front of the station, though the beach exit/entrance is by way of stairs so if you are in a wheelchair or have a baby in a stroller you'll need to go around There's a few restaurants and cafes nearby where you can cool off And if you want better, you have to go to Shirahama :)

Loved it! Close to the city and just hop off from JR station you can feel peace with calm beach. But be careful of jellyfish and lot of seaweed

I went here last spring and I was amazed that the beach has clear and clean water. I was expecting different because the beach was nearby the city. Maybe good for swimming, picnics and fishing.

There's is no entrance fee. If you don't have a tent they have available for rent for only ¥500. And there's a life guard always patrolling.

Good family beach near Central Kobe. About 20-30 minutes train ride. The beach is clean but small. The water is not clear but very calm. Good place for kids.

A great and mostly clean beach with some restaurants and shops around. Personally I really missed some more benches to sit down and enjoy the view when the weather is not hot enough to lay on the sand
