Friendly staff with good English and attention to details. He gave us better dorms that what I booked because we stay 3 nights (this is really nice because all hotels / hostels can do if they are free but they never do) we really appreciated this. You got basically everything you need here. We cooked a lot in the kitchen. Nice common area with many information of what you can do in Kansai region, in many languages. Nice rooftop. Convenient location. Clean beds and bathrooms.

Had a great hostel vibe and decor. Place seemed a bit cluttered, maybe a little dirty, but that fit the style. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Bed was very comfortable and very roomy compared to most guesthouse bunk beds. Was easy to find and a great location close to the Kobe station. Perfect for my early morning flight from the Kobe airport. You’ll have to use stairs.

Very nice and cheap stay that's pretty close to Kobe station, the owner speaks hood English and you are able to self check in when he is not available. There are useful renting services for towels and a bike. Extra blankets and sheets are also available.

I had a bad check in experience which meant I had to change my day plans because of poor communication from the hostel. Also found a cockroach in the common area. Would not stay here again.

A great place o stay in kobe. Pretty close to a train station, walking distance from the main attractions in town. Place to store your bags before check in time. Nice common area with a kitchen you can use.

Staff extremely helpful and adjusted our stay quickly and efficiently when we had to make a change in our plans. Even though the hostel was old style the beds were the comfiest we’d stayed in - although we didn’t manage any sleep because someone had a cheeky one night stand and decided to keep the rest of the dorm up.. all... night...

Stayed for one night to experience the capsule style accommodation in Japan. The hostel has a chill vibe and old-school feel. The common areas and individual "rooms" were kept clean. Due to the proximity of everything in the building (especially the wash area on the 2nd floor), it can be quite noisy (snoring, talking etc.) if the neighbors are loud. Location is decent but still a fair distance from the central hubbub of Shinnomiya. Overall a great experience but light sleepers beware.

Coolest place in Kobe. Probably the perfect hub for exploring the amazing and surprising city that is Kobe. If you're not sure what to do, see or eat in Kobe this is the place to be. Lots of information is available here. The owner is a cool cat himself and a pleasure to talk to. If you don't find exactly what you're looking for he'll surely have some insider tips for you. Hostel Nakamura has a very creative diy aesthetic so if you expect a more regular hotel this is maybe not the place for you, but for the curious and open-minded it's perfect.

I stayed here Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night during Japan’s spring break. I thought I’d be packed, but I only ran into about 2-3 people my entire stay. Even the common areas like the rooftop and 1st floor lounge were completely empty every time I went. The guests in my 11 person dorm were so quiet and respectful, and I was able to sleep soundly every night! Make sure to explore the first floor! I found cute little hidden gems and hideouts every time I went down there! Check-in process is also Covid friendly, where you call the owner using the free landline on the first floor, and he’ll tell you what to do from there. I loved spending time on the rooftop in the hammock that was provided! Smoking is also allowed on the rooftop! The vibes of the hotel are great. Smells like incense, lo-fi plays on the first floor, and the walls are painted by local artists. The hostel also has rental towels for 100 yen if you didn’t bring your own. Extra blankets and sheets are provided for free. Bicycles can also be rented for a fee! Overall a fantastic stay for the price! 10 min walk to Kobe Harborland, 20 min walk to Chinatown, 30 minute walk to Sannomiya nightlife!

Pros: Clean, very relaxed atmosphere and music. The beds were pretty spacious and had curtains so felt very private. Every bed has an assigned huge, free locker that can actually fit all of your luggage in which is great. We only stayed one night, so can't speak for the shower/any kitchen area. Cons: there isn't a bathroom on every floor. You brush your teeth in a communal troff.

Great little place with wooden capsules and pretty curtains, good shower and wash areas with hair driers and extra blankets if you need them, there is a roof top chilling area and also a chill out room down stairs too. Breakfast is bread as usual and there's a tiny kitchen you can prepare your own food in. They have a place you can keep your luggage in a non locked cupboard but it was safe enough. If the guy isn't there to check you in you can just wait for him or just leave your luggage in the cupboard just on the right before you come to the end of the bar. Go explore then check in later.

This hostel is just like what a hostel should be! Budget, friendly, cozy with spirit of freedom! We enjoyed our stay very much!! It is not in the city center, but it is a nice walk to Kobe station , only 10 mins! On the way there is an open late supermarket , as a home away traveler in Japan, you would find it is a big help when you need to get some food!

A quaint and stylish hostel. Nice Japanese-styled atmosphere. Everything was clean and the lounge area was nice as well. It's a little out of the way from the city centre, but besides that it was easily worth the money.

This hostel is conveniently near JR Kobe Station. Facilities were clean, and had a cool hippy/backpacker vibe. Keys to a lock box next to your bed, and a larger lock are provided. Staff speaks English, and there it's a lot of flyers provided with info on Kobe and Osaka. I would totally stay here again.

Very nice place. It's on the small side and has more of a personal then a commercial vibe, but if you like small hostels the staff is incredible and the decor is cute. My only complaint is that the narrow wooden steps made it hard to get my luggage to the room, but other than that it was a perfect stay and I recommend it.

Super convenient since it's a short walk to the nearest JR station, the owner is very friendly and helpful, the vibe is cool and welcoming, beds are comfy and have a locker assigned to them. Thank you for having me 🤙🏾
