Beautiful ryokan and wonderful experience. I was here in late autumn for my honeymoon. I had a room with an outdoor tub and a view of the mountain side. The view of the orange foliage was breathtaking. The service was fantastic. Some of the staff can speak English. The in-room food service was amazing. It was a very authentic experience to eat on the tatami. The bathing areas are huge and quiet majority of the time I was there. There were 2-5 people in the afternoons and evenings. There were considerably more people in the mornings. I went at around 7am and there over 20 people in the baths, mostly all seniors. Overall experience was fantastic and would definitely recommend to others.

This place is getting all stars from me!!!! Very authentic Japanese style. We got the package with dinning in room with a private butler. Traditional bed set up. Natural outdoor onsen gives me very energizing after soaked in. Very clean. Service was phenomenal. The hotel staff didn’t speak much English but they’re willing to help and given us best experience. Words cannot explain enough. I love this place so much. It’s a higher price but I never regret

Huge Hotel in Arima Onsen with 3 different public baths in it, that all offer something unique. Normal check in time for us had no like ups. The hotel seemed to be very quiet on a weekday. The hotel was quite dated, and had elevators and escalators everywhere because of it being on a hill. Some elevators had no sensors, and I almost got crushed while walking in (not a complaint because we know Ryokan's are old and we can tolerate that) but just a heads up. Food, Onsen, and the spacious rooms were the icing on the cake though. The dinner buffet included Tajima Beef which was heavenly delicious. This goes the same for breakfast with the rice and Onsen egg. Hot springs had real sulfur and one of them had an really huge indoor bath.

Our son got fever at noon before check-in time Good: gave us medicine after check-in since nearby pharmacies were closed. Room was clean and hot spring was good. Not-so-good: insisted check-in time is 2:30pm for everyone even when the kid was feeling very ill. Kid was too sick to go to dinner buffet(included in our package), staff would not let us take some food to him in the room. Kid eventually went but almost threw up at the restaurant... There are many other hotels that I know would've handled this differently.

Visited in Sep 2023. Rooms were decent and spacious with views to south west mountains. Food was beyond my expectation. Onsens 1 and 2 were old but reasonable. Onsen 3 was newer. Car parking was convenient. Overall, LIKE!

Not recommended for foreign tourists, there is no hot spring in room or any kind of room with private hot spring available. For private hot spring need to charge extra in different location. Btw, check out time is 10:00am, every 1 hour thereafter the hotel will charge approx 10%+tax of your room rate.

One of the most traditional onsen hotel in Arima due to its historic background. Highly recommend the rooms located at North Wing when it’s autumn. The view is spectacular when the leaves turn red. The onsen is also amazing as it also provides the special “kin no yu”. You can definitely feel your skin become nourished after the onsen. For dinner, your package may contain buffet or kaiseki. We chose the kaiseki package and got Kobe beef, which is also a must try. P.S. Pikachu also relieved all his stress after this stay!

Traditional Japanese-style hotel. Staff is kind and polite, room is not new but clean and cozy. There are some kinds of public hot spring and these are comfortable. My room was little bit far from entrance.

This onsen resort hotel has all the typical amenities you would expect of. The staff are all attentive and super friendly. Also, most of the rooms have great view of the mountainous areas around.

Excellent room with great views. Delicious buffet dinner with steamed kobe beef. Comfortable and large onsen bath. Only small complaints is you have to bring your (big) luggages 1 stair up from car drop to the lobby.

While the hotel was well taken care of, it was definitely beginning to show it's age. The amenities we're older and some of them were not in working order. The baths were very nice. For the most part, the staff was very polite except but nothing exceptional compared to other Arima hot spring hotels.

Very large scale hotel with long history. Staff are friendly and some are multi-lingual. Buffet breakfast offer a very wide variety. Advanced massage chair just outside the public bath area is a must-try to push the stress out from the body. It is a bit uphill though but it's acceptable. Like everything in Arima it's a bit of overpriced compared with other hot spring offering similar quality

overall our stay in this hotel was very enjoyable and relaxing. The room is traditional Japanese style and staffs are very attentive and friendly. We had dinner in the room and we ate the Kobe beef set. As for the hot springs, it has three different one ;all come with indoor hot water tub and outdoor onsen tub. I would recommend to stay in this hotel.

I have rarely been to somewhere where the staff are more helpful or courteous. Simply the standard they set is exemplary. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. They have Wi-fi (Sep 2018) that you can access from the rooms. The food is fantastic. The Japanese “Viking” style where you help yourself to as much as you want - and you will want lots as it is delicious. The three Onsen baths are wonderful and are a highlight of the trip. The hotel has numerous amenities (karaoke bars, arcades, bars and cafes). Family friendly to top it all! I wont hesitate a second to recommend this fine Onsen ryokan/hotel.

(Trip was made back then on 8 Dec 2019, 2 years before the Covid-19 Pandemic hit) Can’t believe it’s been 2 years since we stayed at this ryokan. Even though the decor might look a little dated, it’s actually very clean and well maintained. The rooms are designed in the traditional Japanese style which I love and had a brilliant view of the natural landscape (depending on which room you get). They also had a personal massage chair in the room for you to unwind in. They offer quite a variety of options for breakfast also which was buffet style in a communal setting at the restaurant. Dinner itself was a very personal affair in your own room and the dishes were just exquisite. Of all the ryokans we have stayed at, the meals served at Hyoe Koyokaku were the best. We could tell that the ingredients were high quality as it’s so fresh and the taste was just divine. And of course, their onsen was just amazing, with 3 different style baths to choose from. There are even 3 massage chairs just outside the onsen where guests could relax in. The staff were very hospitable and provided great service in spite of the language barrier. It was a good decision to indulge by staying 2 nights at this ryokan. It was one of the most memorable experience we had and would definitely love to revisit again when Japan opens up to travelling in the future after Covid-19 blows over.

Nice hotel, restaurant and amenities, but terrible check in process. We arrived about 45 minutes early due to faster than expected transit times with two small and tired children. They did not let us check in until the official check in time and then took us to our room 20 minutes late. Because they were so strict with check in time there ended up being a very large crowd of people all waiting to be attended to. Worst example of a check in process I have seen in Japan.

Stayed here for one night during our 11 day trip in Japan after a friend recommended this hot springs hotel. The quality of service is amazing. Staff is very helpful and you have a guide to help you know how the room arrangements work as they set up your bed and prepare your room for the in room dinner. It is pricey but very well worth it for the ryokan and kaiseki experience. The view is also very nice. You also get access to the public baths which is a very unique and cool experience. Overall would highly recommend this onsen.

An excellent onsen experience that I would highly recommend! Customer service at Arima Onsen Hyoe Koyokaku was outstanding from Mr. Nikesh Dangol and Mr. Morioka.
