Such a charming little place! They had some nice insect exhibits and insect collections. I loved seeing all the beetles they had! The best part is the butterfly garden! It was very peaceful and they had a lot of colorful butterflies! Made for some great Insta worthy pictures! A great place for any insect enthusiast of all ages to visit!

Very very awesome! The hike to get there was really nice and then once you're inside they have an interesting collection of mounted insects as well as insects in little habits. The butterfly enclosure was so much fun, but they are always a winner. The butterflies have numbers on their wings and you can watch the staff working with the cocoons and getting butterflies ready for release.

The insectarium is amazing, a huge quantity of beautiful insects. And the butterfly garden is wonderful. I spent more than 1 hour in the insectarum. Plus, the admission fee is not expensive at all. You should go there!

This Insectarium was the biggest surprise on our trip. When we first went in, we didn't expect much and the entrance fee of 230yen (~1,8€) per person was totally cheap, but then we went into the museum and saw well maintained terrariums and a beautiful butterfly garden. It is really worth stopping by this place when heading towards the Mino waterfalls.

We enjoyed rhis place a lot. It's not that big but the displays are good, and my daughter got to hold some of the bugs. The live butterfly area was also lots of fun. Seeing the beautiful butterflys flying around. They do keep it quite warm, a bit too hot for me dreased for the winter.

if you love butterflies you must visit this place. Small but for kids they could enjoy interaction with the butterflies roaming around the area .

Great small insectarium on the path between Minoo Station and Minoo Waterfall. Entrance tickets cost only 280 yen for adults and free for kids. This place is clean, well maintained, full with information about insects especially butterflies. On the back, there is a room with beautiful butterflies flying around the flowers and trees. Worth to stop by on the way to Minoo Waterfall.

Mino is apparently one of the top 3 places in Japan for it’s variety of insects Good price for the amount of work put into the place. A vast range of different insects at different stages; or course on pin boards. Quite a few live specimens too. They looks cool, but it isn’t really interactive and gets quite samey fast. The mantises are pretty amazing and there are a lot on display. The highlight for me was the butterfly area. Was pretty and had a lot of cool plants suited to the butterflies. Only ¥260 per adult, children are even cheaper. Lots of kids were search around the area; with nets in tow, with the hopes of catching their new pets. Pretty cool to see.

Very well curated museum. Even though all the information on the insects are written in Japanese it doesn’t matter - google translate app to the rescue! Very informative, lovely staff and the butterfly area was the cherry on top. Highly recommend the walk up to the waterfall as well.

Many interesting insects. Low price. People were swatting at the butterflies and stepping on them. It would be nice if they had some sort of education on respecting nature. The museum does educate about insects. They have some interesting insects that I had not seen in a museum before.

Great little bug museum. It was nice rest stop on the way to the top for my toddler.

This was a great surprise on the walk to Minoh Falls. Lots of dead and mounted specimens, which were informative if a little off-putting (though I guess it's hard to do otherwise with things like butterflies). But also plenty of living insects and a butterfly room full of living butterflies which the kids loved.

Surprisingly fun museum. Although it’s small, the butterfly garden is amazing. I’ve never been able to see the butterflies this close. They even come to you. Other than that, the collection is big. Overall I think you can enjoy yourself for around 30 min max.

We found this by accident when wandering up to the Minoo falls. It is a lovely little museum which has live insects (also lots of them native to Japan) as well as displays of preserved insects. The main highlight for us was the butterfly garden. It's a small garden / greenhouse full of butterflies where one can walk through or relax on a bench. We got there at last entry on 16:30 (museum closes at 17:00). If possible, I would have gone a tid bit earlier, as half an hour is just a bit too short.

Very interesting insect museums! But more suitable for kids. The insects will not bite!

Beautiful butterfly garden. More challenging if you aren't fluent in Japanese
