I
was
on
a
two
day
weekend
bicycle
tour,
literally
cycling
away
from
the
daily
grind.
I
needed
a
calm
and
quiet
place
to
spend
the
night
after
the
first
day's
ride
in
the
hills
of
Athirappilly
and
Vazhachal.
My
major
requirement
was
that
the
hotel
should
allow
me
to
keep
the
cycle
inside
the
room
with
me.
I
didn't
want
to
leave
my
expensive
cycle
parked
outside
as
I
was
more
worried
about
an
inadvertent
damage
to
the
cycle
by
a
careless
employee
or
a
curious
guest
rather
than
the
possibility
of
a
theft.
Some
hotels
declined
my
request,
but
finally
two
good
places
agreed
to
my
demand.
I
finally
chose
The
Village
against
the
other
option,
despite
being
slightly
more
expensive,
as
I
had
attended
a
function
in
this
place
a
few
months
ago
and
I
had
liked
the
place.
As
expected,
the
stay
was
great.
I
reached
the
hotel
at
2:30
PM
after
about
120
kilometres
of
hard
cycle
ride
in
the
rolling
hills
under
a
hot
sun
which
had
left
me
completely
exhausted
and
cramped.
So
I
really
appreciated
the
quick
and
smooth
Check
In
process.
I
was
warned
in
advance
that
my
room
would
be
on
the
first
floor
and
I
had
to
carry
my
cycle
up
the
stairs.
So
I
left
my
helmet,
gloves
etc
that
I
had
taken
off
during
the
check
in
on
the
floor
to
free
both
the
hands
to
carry
the
cycle
up.
I
was
planning
to
come
back
to
get
these
stuff
as
I
didn't
want
to
request
anyone
else
to
carry
the
sweaty
and
smelly
gear
for
me.
The
front
desk
executive
who
was
leading
me
to
the
room
saw
this
and
she
came
back
to
pick
up
the
gear
for
me,
thereby
saving
my
cramped
legs
from
making
a
second
trip
up
the
stairs.
Hers
was
a
simple
voluntary
gesture,
but
it
was
also
a
great
display
of
hospitality.
I
could
see
such
small
gestures
of
professionalism
from
other
employees
also
throughout
my
stay.
The
room
was
minimally
furnished,
but
it
was
cozy
and
just
the
way
I
had
wanted.
The
only
thing
I
didn't
like
in
the
room
was
the
presence
of
a
religious
book
on
the
side
table.
I
expect
a
hotel
room
to
be
a
secular
place.
After
a
quick
nap,
I
spent
most
of
the
time
reading
on
my
kindle
either
in
the
beautiful
poolside
garden
or
in
my
room.
I
almost
finished
a
book
during
the
stay.
Thus,
this
turned
out
to
be
a
great
reading
holiday
as
well.
The
food
was
simple,
traditional
and
homely.
The
breakfast
was
complimentary,
but
the
dinner
and
the
lunch
were
a
bit
expensive.
The
front
desk
agreed
to
extend
my
stay
beyond
the
customary
12
o'
clock
check
out
time
and
allowed
me
to
stay
for
24
hours.
This
helped
me
to
avoid
resuming
my
ride
under
hot
midday
sun.
Overall,
I
really
enjoyed
my
stay
at
The
Village
which
is
situated
in
the
outskirts
of
Angamaly
town.
I
want
to
take
out
half
a
star
for
the
higher
than
expected
food
prices
and
for
the
religious
book
in
the
room,
but
I
don't
want
to
penalise
them
by
reducing
a
full
star
for
such
minor
issues.
So
it
is
full
five
stars.
And
yes,
I
will
return
to
The
Village
if
I
am
in
need
for
another
quick
weekend
getaway.
