Vegetarian hotel with a long history over 100 years. Though the building was built in 1919, the restaurant started functioning in 1956. Both AC and non AC seating arrangements are available. Timely service and good food at nominal rates. Various types of pickes, curry powders and sweets are available.

Superb tea and tasty cutlet. I felt the location is the main issue, it is located at street side.

It was ages I had been to the Broadway. Since it was nearing the new year, we had to buy something from Broadway and hence I had been there. It was post noon and was very sunny. I was feeling hungry and wanted to grab a bite. And lo, I saw the Bharat coffee house. It was a nostalgic over flow for me and I was very happy seeing it. It was years I had been to this restaurant. The last time I had been to BCH was in 1983, during my 10th standard holidays. The entire facelift of BCH has changed. They have moved forward to bakerys and resto dining. Whatever. However I found this BCH still existing and rushed inside. I ordered the regular masala dosa and coffee. I had a lingering taste in my mind and it matched exactly the same. The seating, the tables, the waiters, the ambience, the wash room, the lighting, the cash counter everything, was as in where in condition. But well maintained. I would love to visit again to re-live the nostalgic feelings.

Best place in the heart of ernakulam market to try veg cutlet. In fact every item is super tasty here. Now they have renovated the wash area and toilets. So more comfortable for the users...

Tasty veg food. The rustic age old look and feel is the same. As the name goes, coffee is a must try. There is a small family dinning area, which you may come across only in some of the old restaurants. There is a renovated sweets counter in the front. Very reasonable price. Located in a crowded market place and hence four wheeler parking isn't available, you can park at the nearby pay and park.

One of the oldest restaurant in Ernakulam, Kerala. I really like their laddu, coffee with banana fry. Cutlet, vada. Never tried other items, heard that its really good. Milk peda is also good here. Atleast one time i visit this place whenever i go to Kerala.

Breakfast is good. Meals are not up to the mark. There are better hotels. In the early days it was very popular and the food was very good. The service was also very good. In 1976-79, the famous rock band 13AD used to come there and spent a lot of time there. I loved those days, sitting opposite them and having tasty masala dosa and coffee.

Had Vada and coffee. Not bad, or good, can be improved a lot. Not worth going again. One amazing thing is the building, which is more than 100 years old, it was built in 1919

An 100 year old building, a 70 year old restaurant in one of the oldest shopping centres in Kochi, possibility past it prime and maybe even old age, but still has many nostalgic stories to tell. Food is as good as yester years, place is almost the same, no renovation, no update but still inviting. Great place for snacks and a drink.

My dad used to visit here in his teens (1980's). He said that the quality has decreased a little. Undampoori ,pazhampuzhi ,sugiyan was delicious.

Located near Broadway in a British era building. Had a tea which was strong and tasty. Reminded me of old Indian coffee house building in my hometown.

A Symphony Of Perfection... My 2.5 Months Long Search for the Perfect Pazhampori (Banana Fry) and Medu Vada Ends At This Restaurant. Kochi may have several other joints that serve excellent variations of the above dishes but Bharat Coffee House has achieved Perfection. They most undoubtedly care about their products and their customers as they send their Hot Filter Coffee In Glass Bottles, even the Coffee Giants like Starbucks and Cafe Coffee Day are still stuck on paper. I ordered Medu Vada, Banana Fry, Special Mixture, Murrukku and 4 Filter Coffees. Each Dish stood out on their own. The Medu Vada was loaded with well balanced Flavors, crispy texture and No soda at all. But the best compliment was the Chutney. I have no words to describe it. The chutney is not watery but firm and yummy. Banana Fry was well fried not brown overburnt but perfectly fried with golden yellow texture. Not too heavy on oil. The Murrukku was out of the world awesome. Perfect Crunch and had a toasty flavor to it. The mixture too was good. Highly recommend this restaurant. They even followed my instructions and sent me freshly prepared Hot Banana Fry and Hot Medu Vada. I loved it and will order from it again and again.

If you want to revisit those good old vibes of the old days, then do visit Bharath Coffee House. Its one of the oldest restaurants of Cochin and they serves some tasty food, their Sharjah shake is one of my favourite. The onion uthappam, Masala Dosa is also superb.

Had the pazhampori and veg cutlet. The pazhampori was oily and had a thick coating. Veg cutlet was just ok. Neither was warm unfortunately. The place has an old school feel as expected given its history.

Oldest coffee shop in city with history of more than a century. The quality is maintained. Masala dosa is a speciality here. Rare varieties of home made pickles are available at the counter.

Takes you back in time with the vintage atmosphere. The food was nostalgic. The only miss was the excess time as they prepared everything fresh!

Iconic place to visit in Kochi. Situated in the entrance of Broadway, Ernakulam. Parking is not available so if you are on a car, probably you will have to park it in the parking lot near ktdc information center. The coffee house is frequented by lot of locals as well as tourists. Victorian era ambience can be felt. They have opened a dedicated shop for sweets and other confectioneries. Even though the interiors are from pre Independence era, the hygiene is well maintained.. A good place to visit for meals, snacks and a great coffee..

They lost their quality. Very bad curry. Price too high compared to other same category veg hotels in Ernakulam.

Old restaurant right at Broadway - Decent food , and reasonable prices too. Had veg biriyani , parotta and masala dosa- all 3 were good. Chilly Gobi was a bit salty, but okay.

I ordered a sughiyan and found a stone free inside. Both the stone and the sughiyan were delicious. Plus the arrogant we-dont-care attitude of the aged staff. Enjoy.

  • 3/5 Venugopal V V. 2 years ago on Google
Best food makers but the price is very high. I ordered a veg. Biriyani and one tea The rate is 100 rupees, the same is purchased my friend from another shop it is 80 rupees. So 20% more than that.. The taste of that shop is better best if we copare with Bharat coffee house.

Old style Kochi with the atmosphere to match. Grab a dosa and a cup of tea or coffee. Worth sucking into if you’re passing by.

It was okay. Good to see old heritage hotels still standing high. I only had a coffee and it was not what I expected. The boli or banana fry was fine and had a old recipe feel to it.

I had their vadas and the famous ghee roast. I went there a bit after the morning rush by about 11 am. But still the vadas where crisp the ghee roast was made to perfection and the staff was friendly as well and the service was also fast over all loved the food and the ambience. Which itself is a mirror to the citys rich past....

The food taste is as good as it used to be about 40 years back. It is maintained the same way. Updated restaurant is on the front side. Retained the old charm. A little better and cleaner ambience can be tried but retaining the old charm.

There is quite a lot of space available and requires quite a lot of upgradation to be carried out in all aspects from a restaurant's point of view. Food is tasty though!!

Located inside broadway. Outside is bit rush and noisy. But inside is comparitively calm. Interior looks like antique build. Lots of people use to visit here. Food tastes average, quality and quantity also felt normal. Overall average feel. Taste 3.6/5 Quality 3.4/5 Service 3.5/5 Ambiance 3.3/5 Pricing 3.5/5 ----------------- Overall 3.4/5.0

I have been a regular at Bharath Coffee House for over 14 years and they have always maintained the same homely quality of their food over the years. Although they were behind on renovating or maintaining the infrastructure, they turned the place around a few years ago. If visiting, I would recommend you try their cutlets - probably the best cutlets with beetroot in them that I have ever had. They also have a small section with traditional sweets and savouries that's worth looking into. The staff are really nice and always bring you an extra serving of sambar or ketchup if requested. The pricing is also on the more affordable side.
