Worth a peep into this historical place . The chechi guide was awesome. She provided us great knowledge about the past. Photography and videography is not permitted inside. They are following the COVID protocols too which is appreciable. The entry pass is cheap. And you can visit the paliyam naalukettu near to this place with the same pass.

Not much spoken about, it is a place that one must visit if one is around Cherai. The building boasts of a hybrid architecture and is pleasing to the eyes. Unfortunately Photography is NOT allowed inside thus not many photos could be taken. The place is the BEST maintained palaces of all the palaces I have seen in Kerala. Although the bass and volume was high the av presentation was worth it. Not many exhibits yet with a visit

Visited Palium Palace today and was fascinated by its rich history. This former residence of the Paliathu Achans is a unique blend of Kerala and Dutch architectural styles. The museum inside offers a glimpse into the noble life of the past, with historic records and exhibits. A must-visit for history enthusiasts in Kerala

This is a palace built by the Dutch as a gift to Paliyath Achan for helping them win a war against the Portuguese. The architecture is a blend of Kerala and Dutch styles. The broad stairs, windows which open to the inside, thick walls, almost a meter thick, are markers of the Dutch style we were told. Informative videos are shown at different places to explain the materials that are on display. Photo ans videography is prohibited by the trust which owns the property. Guides are available.

Paliam Palace (Kovilakom) is a historically famous, old and beautiful palace, currently managed by Department of Tourism under Muziris Heritage Project. The entry fee per person is Rs. 55 for Indian nationals and Rs. 105 for foreign nationals. The museum have a few collections of brass and copper utensils (like kindi, bells, jewelry box etc), a sapramancha kattil, elephant decorative items, old stone toilets etc. Other than this, there are nothing much to see, however please note that, photography is strictly prohibited by them inside the museum . I still wonder, why they put a ban on photography in such a place. ( Photography is allowed in world class museums like Louvre in France, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam, Vatican museum, British Museum in London etc.... and I have taken a lot of photos in those museums). Doesn’t know what’s wrong with these people. If you have spare time and money - for a time pass - it’s worth to pay a visit. That’s all.

The historical place of Paliyathachan and Paliyam families. First of all, one should know that this place is a private place but part of muziris heritage project. A usual visitor is not allowed to capture photos inside the buildings. It's recommended to have some homework about Kerala history prior visiting this place. Nicely arranged all monumental items.

Being of native and not visiting this gem of place for last 34 years i do regret now. This is worth visiting historical place . Should include this place in ur itinerary if you planning to visit muzrus tourism in N Paravur or visiting famous chendamangalam temple. I would recommend to visit here during famous paliyam festival which will be around month of Jan/Feb every year. Worth visiting for those who loves history . Dutchmen built and presented this palace and in construction you can see their masterclass craft. 30% of materials has been renewed due to wear and tear and flood effects, but the authority has kept it in good condition. Entry fee is there. Monday holiday. Guides assistance available. They were too good with their knowledge and support during our visit. Photography not allowed inside, so could not take photos of it. Lots of things were moved to Hillpalace thripunithura . Very few items are available to see here at this palace. Not so busy place. Parking available.

Adults ticket cost 55/- per person. No photography allowed, will be guided throughout the palace and the guide will explain the history. You can visit both the palace and nallukettu with the same ticket, and nallukettu is at walkable distance, free drinking water and toilet facilities is available. We cannot take photos however we can take photo in front of the elephant which is placed at the front gate of the paliam palace.

It was actually the residence of the prime minister to the honorable king. But the King's presence in this residence for decision making purposes in certain cases made it called as Palace. You can see the present paliyam family near the palace. The movie 'Nandanam' throughout was shot in this palace. The guides are really helpful in understanding the history behind the whole palace and the traditional collections. Photos are not allowed inside the palace. With the same pass ticket, you can go to the minister's sisters residence. For a wide range of palace experience, you may go to Hill palace Thripunithura, where the Honourable King lived.

The rich traditional house of Paliyathachan, the prime ministers of Kings of Kochi. It's actually the administration block especially the affairs related to war. So that the male members of the family were using the building. We can watch a vedio in the beginning of the visit to the palace. It will give us a clear picture of the palace and their dynasty. Since there is no permission for photography inside, we can't get more details. Malayalam Movie Nandanam was shot in the palace. The guide was a great help.

Historical place well maintained... parking facility arranged next to entrance... detailed explanation about historical importance by staff, easy access from North Paravur, Kerala by bus, Auto or we can go by our own car... inside the palace ... the Royal and ancient Throne, vessels, lamps and so are kept used once by the Paliam family... Photography not allowed inside the palace building or Paliam Kovilakam... but can shot surroundings outside.

Though it was comparatively a little crowded since it was a weekend, I could explore each gallery peacefully, in my own time. It's better if you reach by 10 am and finish exploring all the galleries before they close for lunch at 1 pm. They make you move out and wait till 2 pm. before the galleries open again. If you are visiting towards the afternoon, go after lunch around 2 pm so that you have enough time to explore the galleries. You will have to leave your footwear outside at an open access footwear collection place before entering the galleries. The deer park is adjacent to the palace itself and you can see some deer up close.

Traditional home of the Paliathu Achans (Prime Ministers to the Kings of Kochi), it came to be called 'Kovilakam' or palace after the then Paliath Achan hid the King in his home, when the royal house was threatened by the Portuguese. In appreciation of the Paliath Achan's services, the Dutch renovated the home in Chendamangalam. He used it as his official residence, where a lot of major decisions were made and put into action.

This is a must-visit palace/prime minister's office of the former prime ministers of Cochin kingdom. The place is rich in history, and much of it has been renovated and restored to its former glory by the Muziris Heritage Foundation. There's ample parking and the ticket pricing is nominal. The best bit is the guided tour provided by very knowledgeable and amiable guides. Excellent learning opportunity for those interested in early Kerala history.

The Paliam Dutch Palace is located in the district of Ernakulam in the village of Chennamangalam. The palace is believed to have been a safe house for the ministers of the royal family when security was under threat due to the Portuguese. It is also believed that the Raja stayed incognito in the palace himself. The palace was restored and gifted back to the ministers of Kerala by the Dutch in appreciation of their valiant efforts. The building features elaborate and intricate Dutch architecture with a number of fascinating elements present within.

Paliyam Palace, a image of Kerala's architectural finesse, boasts a completely unique blend of Dutch and conventional Kerala styles. Nestled amidst serene surroundings, this ancient wonder showcases intricate woodwork and sloping roofs that characterize its attraction. Its significance lies not only in its captivating design however also in its role as a center of governance for the Paliath Achans. The palace stands as a residing testomony to Kerala's cultural heritage and the legacy of the Paliath family's influential reign. Visitors are attracted to its charming splendor and the echoes of a bygone technology preserved inside its partitions.

Traditional home of the Paliathu Achans (Prime Ministers to the Kings of Kochi), The architectural style of Paliam Kovilakam is a hybrid of Kerala and Dutch styles. It’s a museum showcasing sapramanjakkattil, dutch model starecases, Dutch sash windows among many other thing. Architecture style and ventilation design are nice to explore.
