Good atmosphere, Staffs are good to communicate with. Well explained the history of ayurveda by staff. One of the biggest attractions I feel the sand collected from the moon is there. But the ticket price is a little higher compared to other museums. ₹50 for adults ₹20 for students.

This is one of the best museum I have visited with its very unique theme Ayurveda. You will need more than 1hr to visit the entire museum. The entry fee is just 50Rs which is worth. There will be a guide who will explain you everything about Ayurveda. We visited on Saturday afternoon and there was no visitors. Also it has got ample parking space for 2 and 4 wheelers. A must visit place in Thrissur

Its such a hidden gem. The tranquil museum- is part of the Ayurvedic hospital and developed to detail the Ayurvedic treatment history and study. The structure is proper vernacular architecture based and the lush green landscaping adds to its beauty. The place is as as beautiful as it can get as it started drizzling. With very less crowd it was a very quick escapade for one free morning we had at Thrissur.

Fantastic tour, starting from an audio-visual presentation on the history of Ayurveda, different plants and their medicinal properties, 3-D photo gallery on the evolution of Ayurveda and the traditional naalkettu Kerala house which was the place where medicines were made manually earlier. The museum is run by one of the oldest, renowned Ayurveda families - Thaikkat Moos. Their Ayurveda centre and govt Ayurveda college is nearby. The curator of the museum Anil is a fountain of knowledge not just on Ayurveda but on use of herbs, medicinal plants across the world.

Vaidyaratnam Ayurveda Museum - You step foot in this place and the aroma of traditional Ayurvedic herbs transports you into another world! Peace, quiet, history all in one place If you are keen on knowing more about Ayurveda and the history of Ayurveda, do visit this place! The museum depicts the story line of Ayurveda in different periods of time. A big shout out to Mr Manoj, the curator who was kind enough to give me the tour of the place and explain in detail ( ps it was post onam and there were no tourists/ visitors, it was just me). The architecture of the museum is beautiful. The traditional Athangudi handmade floor tiles, the roofs that are built in a traditional way that helps keep the entire place cool ( No Airconditioners) The intricate carvings, the collection of vintage pieces, herb garden… Ground Floor - History of Ayurveda First Floor - Ayurveda Techniques ( info about Panchkarma etc) Time: 2 hours

Very educative museum. I liked the different use of media, sculptures, texts, etc. that made learning quite fun and interesting. Definitely recommend for people who are interested in Ayurveda and those who don't know yet that they are. However I would have preferred to start with the museum and not the movies as it was difficult for us to understand the English accent in the video. Also I would have preferred to then go through the museum ourselves and read the texts. We felt a bit rushed through the museum with the guide and it was again a bit difficult to understand everything which was said. An audio guide would have been definitely more helpful for us. But the museum as such is very well done.

The Museum features an ‘Acharya Mandapam’, dedicated to ‘Ashtavaidya’ Gurus ‘where our founder, E. T. Neelakandhan Mooss , Lord Dhanwanthari, Adi Sankaracharya, Lord Buddha and Acharya Vagbhata are venerated and their blessing sought. The museum walks through the evolution of Ayurveda heritage right from the mythological era to the contemporary period. It also demonstrates the classic treatment procedures of Ayurveda, as well as the Kerala specialties which were followed in yester years and the initiatives to preserve and develop it for the future generations. A library comprising a vaast collection of literature and scriptures used by the ‘Ashtavaidyas’, including many ancient manuscripts.A digital library with a sizeable CD collections based on Ayurveda and a Projector Conference Hall for audio-visual shows and presentations on Ayurveda.A picture gallery and a collection of more than 300 medicinal plants, also depicting their medicinal properties.A gallery providing detailed information about the ‘Ashtavaidya Eledath Thaikkattu Mooss’ family ancestry.
